DO NOT GO HERE.
As a retired military guy, I'm used to waltzing into gun stores and hearing all the collective brilliance of gathered guys whether I want to hear it or not. This place is no different. Here however, they like to chat up how military friendly they are. Well, I beg to differ. I purchased a pair of side arms from here, a Ruger LCR in .38 Special and a Ruger SP 101 in .357 Magnum. Both are superb weapons. They came at a decent price. The former is intended for my lady, the latter was intended to be a concealed carry weapon for me. When I opted to go with another weapon as a carry piece, I thought it would be pretty straight forward to return the SP 101. After all, it was still in the original box, wrapped in plastic and never fired. Imagine my surprise when the folks at Sheppard Tactical told me, with smiles on their faces, that I could bring the SP 101 back and that they "would make me an offer" for it. Make me an offer. That's a quote. They said that I could expect to get about 70% of what I paid for it. Their exact words. On a $700 gun.
Make me an offer.
Seventy percent (still in the wrapper).
Well, as a retired guy that's been in gun stores from North Carolina to California I can tell you a couple of things. First, as a firearm sales place, this is decidedly below "fleet average." Second, I'll never darken the door of this rotten place again. Lastly, I will tell every civilian and every military guy and gal that I know, retired or active duty, that they should steer well clear of Shepard Tactical. There are much better establishments available here in The Low Country for spending hard-earned money on important purchases like firearms. This place deserves to go under. read more
