A primary business line is a fee-based organized tour of preserve forest areas for hunters to shoot gaming birds such as quail in a natural setting. Dorchester breeds birds on the preserve for this purpose. Visiting hunters enjoy ATV type transport throughout the preserve for these shoots. The preserve presents pistol, rifle and clay pidgeon shooting ranges separate from the game shooting areas. Shooting areas are cleared swathes in each area. Expect mud during rainy periods. Ranges feature bullet capturing hills. Target shooters should expect to bring targets, staple guns, and other accessories to the range. The main site for new arrivals features a store at the entrance for the purchase of firearms, related accessories, a large lodge and reception hall. Cottages for rent dot the area around the lodge. Hunters can rent these lodges for a specific date-range stay during an organized hunt-tour. Plenty of parking is available on site and at each lodge or cottage. The management and staff are customer-centric and friendly -- a welcome relief especially during the COVID pandemic era.

The facilities were in good shape and they had plenty of guns to choose from, we were able to rent 4 different guns in the two hours we were there for a fair price. I'm kind of disappointed in their service. I brought in my WWII Mauser k98 that had been…read moresportarized previously to get fixed. I talked to them and made an appointment about 5 weeks out so I could drop the gun off and have a somewhat reasonable turnaround time. I guess this was lost on them because when I dropped the gun off, I was told it would still be weeks before they could get to working on it. I was slightly annoyed about that since this was the whole reason in waiting to drop the gun off, but whatever, there busy and I get it. When I initially spoke with them and when I dropped the gun off, I was clear that I wanted wooden dowels inserted into both pieces of the stock and the remaining gap filled to make it a solid piece again. When I come to pick it up it looks like a terrible fix in my opinion and they said they inserted metal slivers (like nails) into both ends and epoxied them. I was not very happy about this fix, but when I questioned them about this, they said they believed it to be the best course of action to fixing it. It looked very cheaply done and flimsy to me, the stock actually bends at the separation when the front band is not in place to secure it to the barrel, but the "fix" was already done and they supposed to be professionals so I let it go. I also asked about having the wood touched up slightly to blend a light-colored spot from where the stock had been taped together for years, but it was not done and when I asked about this upon pickup, I was told how to do it myself. Again, I was slightly annoyed, but I just wanted my rifle back so I didn't push the issue. The thing that really upsets me though is after getting back home and looking the rifle over a little more closely you can clearly see where when they were trying to fix the rifle the front band was pushed too far down onto the barrel/stock and gouged the wood on either side. And then to get the front band back off it looks as if a mallet or something was used to hammer it back off and damaged the front band along with put a small gouge in part of the barrel. I have attached an older picture of before the "repair" was done and it is slightly blurry zoomed in, but you can clearly see the gouges were not there. I would highly recommend taking your rifle somewhere else if possible

In an attempt to write an informative review about Forest City Gun Club, I discovered an interesting history! *A group of Dutchmen founded FCGC in 1873. *They tout it is the oldest, largest continuously operated skeet, trap and sporting clay club in America. *FCGC boast 26 fields, a 40 acre lake, grand club house, dining hall, an assortment of amenities and over 537 acres. *Prestigious competitions have been hosted here: International Skeet Shooting Competition (5x), World Shoot Championships, Buick Masters Skeet Shooting Championships, U.S. Open Skeet Championships, and Georgia State Sporting Clay and Skeet Championships. *Home of FCGC Juniors which is a competitive shooting team. They compete with other youth shooters in the Scholastic Clay Target Program. *Find a wide assortment of gear, shells, apparel and gun rentals in their Pro Shop. *Membership is "managed by perpetuity and guest may visit during tournaments, fundraising or private events".
