Absolutely top-notch experience at the Palmetto State Armory shooting range. From start to finish, everything was smooth, professional, and genuinely enjoyable. I especially want to call out both employees named Jason who helped me during my visit. They were outstanding, knowledgeable, patient, and approachable without being overbearing (if you've been to some ranges, you know employees have to put up with a lot of interesting customers and all that entails). Whether it was answering questions, explaining procedures, or just making sure everything was running safely and efficiently, they took the time to do it right and made the whole experience comfortable and stress-free. It's clear they care about both safety and customer experience, which isn't always easy to balance. Because of them, the range felt welcoming to all skill levels, not intimidating or rushed. When they tell you they open at 10:00 a.m., they mean it. I was there with a friend for the first time to check out the range. There was at least 10 of us waiting for the doors to automatically unlock at 10 so we could get on a lane. There aren't too many lanes at this location. I would need to double check, but I think it may only be 6. They were very good at checking us in and explaining the rules. The cost was very reasonable. I will need to do a follow up review when I stop back to check out their store. I brought my own everything except for a target. The lanes worked well and were clean. They're also quite strict on cleaning up after visiting. There's a reason they have a great reputation. read more

I purchased two handguns and several lasers, one of the lasers was for a business mate of mine as a New Year's gift. I purchased it just after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, I purchased the wrong model and they will not let me return it for the right model or even a store credit. I've had multiple great experiences at Palmetto State Armory in Ridgeland. Jason, Otto, Grant, and the rest of the staff members I've engaged with have all been very encouraging and helpful. They have a wide selection of firearms and ammo here, and I purchased my first 9mm here with ease. The range itself is safe, clean, and well lit, and they offer plenty of targets to choose from. Their daily range and membership fees are very affordable and include a lot for the price. Just became a member here last month, and I'm looking forward to continuing to use the range weekly. Thoroughly enjoy Palmetto State Armory for its selection of accessories and weapons, especially their prices. I use these guys as my FFL and I've never had an issue. I am subscribed to the companies email list and I routinely order sales online and it gets shipped to the store. There has been a few times where I've gone into their store to ask for a PSA part and at times they won't have it in store. I ordered a lower through them and it came in pretty quickly and at a great deal. They didn't charge a fee for the ordering. Their range is good, but it costs a bit to shoot some of their stuff (I'm sure like most ranges). They're my go-to gun store in the area. read more

So I'm from Michigan. I go into to see about purchasing a complete AR lower. Says he can't sell to me from being out of state. Which I can understand. So I ask, can I buy now and you ship to a FFL in Michigan. His response, "no we can't, we're not doing that right now". I went on their website, proceeded to buy a complete AR lower, picked ship to Michigan FFL, let's me do it. Needless to say, I canceled it. Total condescending attitude. Talked to me like I was beneath him. Compete horrible customer service. Guess they're too big and make enough money where they don't need mine. Which is fine, I'll go spend my money elsewhere. I have been in the Ridgeland SC store a few times mostly for ammo. I called the store told the guy on the phone what pistol I wanted I asked if I needed to be in the store to get the background check started. I live around 40 minutes away and didn't want to make more than one trip. He said yes and for me to come on down. When I arrived I found that they did not have the pistol I had asked about in stock, and I just wasted a trip. They were not apologetic at all just said that it must have been a misunderstanding. I guess the guys that work there are retired cops and don't know the meaning of customer service. If you don't mind being treated like crap to save $10 go for it. read more

I made several online purchases over the holidays and had them shipped to Palmetto State Armory as my FFL. For some unknown reason the NICS tagged my purchases with "Delayed". Even though it is perfectly legal to release the purchases after 3 days, Palmetto State Armory refuses to do so. Okay, that's fine. I get it. Company policy. Here's the problem: They refuse to refund your money. I have had purchases that have been paid for since early November 2022 and, as of this writing (Jan 5th 2023) , they still have my money, will not release the purchases and, as an added bonus, refuse to discuss the matter. All the clerks will say is "I can't help you" and it is more than obvious that they don't care. I happen to be an assistant manager for one of the world's largest grocery chains and I have never received such horrible customer service at any business I have ever dealt with. That's OK, though, Palmetto State. I talk to lots and lots of people by virtue of my position. I will never fail to tell people about my horrible experience with this company. read more

Don't write reviews ever, but this place is definitely worthy of one. No one is ever helpful and I've came here several times. Staff is just straight up rude and unwilling to help. If this location is going to be what Beaufort/Bluffton/Hilton Head gets when they visit PSA, you will have few returning customers. I love PSA but this store is a skid mark on the brand. I actually like PSA as a company. Their mission is terrific and products are top notch. Now here's the but. The staff at the Ridgeland has a lot to be desired. They lack personality, seem to rather talk to each other than help customers and generally are not very helpful. just now I recently purchased a pistol from their online store on 12/5/19. I chose to have it shipped to Bass Pro in Savannah, Ga. A week went by and I had not heard anything about my order, tried to call but their phone lines are not open on the weekend because I called on Saturday. I sent an email request and heard back a few minutes later. The email stated my order was set to be unapproved due to Bass Pro allegedly having an improper or expired FFL. I then had them change the FFL dealer to Ortiz, but Ortiz has a $10 higher transfer fee. The cost of the fee was my reason for choosing Bass Pro. I get on the phone with someone this morning only to be told (after having them check their emails from that customer service agent) that I was given incorrect information and that there was never an issue. So, now I am out $10. All they want to do is a 10% coupon for my next purchase. There will never be a next purchase. I asked for a refund of the shipping or just a $10 refund, and I was told no. I was told I could have it changed back to Bass Pro, but it could have a 1 day delay in delivery. It is too close to the holidays to risk a one day delay. This is a Christmas gift from my wife to me. I told her I just wanted the $10 because I don't want to risk it not getting here before Ortiz closes for the holidays. She them told me that she could not do that, and asked if she could do anything for me. I told her, "not a damn thing." I then got hung up on. read more

I visited the shop hoping to buy a new rifle and my first impressions were, can I say... TERRIBLE. The staff behind the counter were very rude and disrespectful. Like half of the people that visit are either active duty or veterans and they treat us like dog sh*t. I asked what's the best bang for the buck you got, and proceeds to speak in a condescending manner as if I never seen a rifle before. I pull out my phone to take notes on rifle specs and he freaks the hell out when I do that. When did having your phone out in a gun shop become a bomb threat, there was no signs or anything showing, hey please don't use your phones while looking for a new firearm. First shop I've ever visited with that policy, blew my mind. I instead just buy a couple of mags instead and he asks me vaguely what kind of card I'm using, and you would think he meant debit or credit, but nah, he then raises his voice out of frustration saying is it visa, Mastercard or what, saying it as if I dropped out of high school. They speak as if they didn't need my business or money. I'm like okay, well then you won't have my business and you never will. I recommend going to Shepard Tactical in Beaufort, much better customer service and the staff is very friendly and helpful. read more

As soon as I walked in I felt a weird. Staff was VERY ignorant. I was walked passed without being asked if I needed any help when I was clearly standing there waiting for help. THERE ARE NO SIGNS that say NO CELL PHONES. I was talked down to for having my cell phone and was told to *cut the shit off* and that they will not *sell my any of their products* and that I can come back another day. Yeah No thank you. I have been shooting there many times before in a tank top, (it is summer and 100 degrees outside) and today after I had a 40 plus minute drive, and had bought my supplies and was given a lane, then the guy decided because I had a tank top on I couldn't go on range, and suggested I buy one of their tee shirts, duh. Why not tell me that all the other times I had been there, he said I might get burned from a hot shell casing. I ask him to make an exception this time because I had never been told that before but his answer was no. I came home and read their website and couldn't find the rules saying there is a dress code. Ladies go somewhere else, they prefer men there, probably because they spend more money. It's the "good ole boys club" mentality, (and I have my CWP and know how to shoot) I will go where they appreciates ladies next time. read more

I've been here perhaps 3-4 times, all times of day over a couple years. It's always seemed like the staff is competent and friendly, helpful with product knowledge. I'm very pleased with shooting here. Don't think I'd consider it a "discount" shop though. Deep knowledge and attention to detail aren't all that common, and are worth something. Terrible costumer service! Before even going to the store I tried to call every department they had and no answer, I decided to make the drive out there anyways. While shopping I heard the staff being very condescending to another customer after he had asked a simple (if uninformed) question about rifles. There was loads of banter between employees and it didn't seem like anyone was getting paid to actually help customers or ring people up. Once I picked out what I wanted to buy (which was just accessories) I waited behind a gentleman who was planning on purchasing a firearm. That event takes long enough but the employ doing the paperwork decided to take a call in the middle of the sale to talk to someone about different rifle calibers while me and 5 other customers are waiting to be helped out and buy things. Eventually after 30 minutes of waiting with no hope of actually getting ringed up for the small purchase that I had I decided to leave. Do not give them your business. With that useless staff it would've been quicker just to order it online. read more

I went here recently for the first time to shoot alone. The staff was friendly and helpful and didn't make me feel silly for asking questions about my new pistol. The range fees were reasonable and the range was clean and well lit. It would've received five stars but it is not open during the evenings. Horrible customer service. Wish there was an option to put 0 stars because this place is truly trash. It was approximately 45 min till closing when we got there. The man behind the counter for the range was extremely rude. I have never felt so unwelcome in my life. When we asked a simple question, "when is the last time you're accepting people in for the range," he became hostile and condescending! We walked away confused as to why someone working in the customer service industry acted so outwardly rude to a customer who was nothing but nice. The customers behind us were let in without any problems. My husband went up to him again and asked if he was just messing with him or if he could use the range and the employee said, "I'm done with you." I don't understand this guy's problem with us. I work in customer service and if I acted like that to a RUDE customer I would be fired, let alone a customer who was polite. We both enjoy PSA but it seems like they need to do better screening on their employees. After this, we won't be purchasing even online. read more

I've been shooting at PSA for about 1 1/2 to years and have always been satisfied withe the service and capabilities that PSA provides. I shoot a Sig P266 and have 10 years Navy background including two combat Viet- Nam Tours. I was really surprised when one of their staff came up to me and showed me a better way of holding my gun. It my huge difference in the comfort and accuracy of my shooting. It's a great facility with good products and good staff. read more

Out of all the ranges and stores in the area, this one by far is the best in both! The range is very well priced, and the employees are very friendly and knowledgeable! As far as the prices on their firearms and accessories they are the lowest I've found. They run half the price on lanes that I've found and is very convenient. I'm from South Carolina in the military serving over seas forward deployed and home on leave when my dad wants to purchase a pistol for my birthday(over 21 I'm 28). We go into palmetto armory and explaining where I'm stationed get shot down for a fire arm, being yelled across the show room floor, that I am denied in store bc even though my driver license is SC and my military page 2 states my home of record to be delivered to is SC they stated since my orders said I was stationed in Japan I forfeit all SC rights. Even after arguing if I died in Japan my body would still be delivered to South Carolina that I'm not registered as a Japanese national and this being my home of record makes no sense... They do not support local SC military stationed abroad... please search else where for local businesses. read more
