I have a bit of an obsession with pineapple buns and Sheng Kee freaking delivers on my cravings every time. They have so many different options of pineapple buns that you're bound to find one that speaks to you -- red bean, taro, custard, coconut, etc. Their egg custard tarts are also fantastic. I wish they had like that golden brown top and flaky crust like Portuguese ones do, but totally get that the Chinese ones are a different ballpark. Still the egg custard mixture was light, airy and the optimal sweetness. I also got this one other matcha bun that was absolutely divine. Definitely a worthwhile stop for your Asian bread and pastry needs!!

Every time that I visit this bakery, the cash register employee is neither helpful nor polite. They won't answer any questions about their pastries, and they look disdainful if we take a little time to choose the bread. Price is high as well. I'd only come here if I had no other options.

There is far less variety of pastries now. The prices for each bread and bun are exorbitantly high. The same applies for the cakes. I don't buy birthday cakes here anymore. The staff won't even write a simple name on the cake for us. Other bakeries have no issues obliging with this simple request. The employees are not very friendly either. Overall, this is not the best place for my purposes to buy bakes goods.

Sheng Kee's fruit cheese tart has been a staple dessert in our house since I was a child. One day I'll write a list of my favorite desserts in the south bay, and this will surely be at the top. If you order in advance, you can be selective as to which fruits you want included - strawberries, kiwi, and/or peaches. Their filling is made with cream cheese, and unlike the custard that you typically find in fruit tarts. Back in the day, these tarts cost ~$12, now they're up to ~$20. Beware, they sell out of these suckers quickly, so come early if you want one! See you there.

I love that you can also order their cakes on the app, without having to call in. Their workers are generally pretty nice, and they do offer to heat up your pastries if you want when you pick it up. This location has outdoor seating as well as indoor seating, so it was nice to be able to sit outside with my dogs. It's in a large plaza with plenty of parking, so you won't have any trouble. I've tried their salt bread, which needed more butter and just taste like a decent dinner roll. Everything else though was good. Their coffee croissant was delicious, but slightly too sweet due to all the icing and filling. Their limited edition Biscoff cake slice was amazing if you love cookie butter it was thick and fudgy. And you can't go wrong with their strawberry fresh cream cake, which is usually really light and fluffy with a not too sweet cream that Asian families can enjoy. I've only had the experience of a dry cake, one time, possibly because it was sitting out for too long? Either way, Paris Baguette is one of my go to Asian bakeries for a good pastry and cake.

Guess I'll have to go to Soypresso directly next time. I spoke with an employee today who told me that the owner was retiring and they're going to close permanently on Oct 6th. I've come occasionally from time to time to pick up an item or two, usually their sponge cake. People also really love their breads and their whole cakes. I came one last time because I realized I actually never tried their mooncakes. Honestly, it was just ok. The pastry part was a bit dry. They're shipped from Asia. Turns out I don't think I was missing out as far as their mooncakes. I will miss their sponge cakes though. Always soft and fresh. Not overly huge like a lot of other places. They also sell out really fast. Workers here have always been pleasant. Take out only. No seating area.

This corner 85 Degrees C Bakery Cafe store is huge/wide in space/high ceiling height. Nice. There's plenty of tables and chairs inside as well as outside. Good set up. As usual, I purchased my medium cup iced tiger boba latte which is still under $5 each. Good flavor as always. Afterwards, I purchased some bread buns and their tote bag. Not bad at all. Tossed a bit of everything inside: coconut almond twist, cream buns, pork sung buns, ham & cheese buns, brioche loaf, garlic cheese breads, etc. All are fresh and good. This store surprised me with their huge space. It was comfortable walking around inside, but the egg tarts in full box needs to be wiped down before putting out on display shelf because ants were crawling on them. I didn't expect to see it here. Overall, it was a good stop. Staffs are efficient and helpful. Checkout was fast and I received my beverage quickly. It's one of those places where you know that you will likely come back for a few more visits.
