This place has a lot of potential, the food was really tasty, until I bit into a piece that didn't taste right. There is a food quality issue here, they used rotten lettuce in the wrap. Be careful eating here, I hope I don't get food poisoning. To the restaurant: The wrap otherwise was delicious! This was, without question, the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Our family and friends came to Shenanigans expecting a nice dinner, and it turned into a complete disaster. The food that did arrive first was cold. Then we waited another **30 minutes** for some of the remaining meals, and **45 minutes** after that for the rest of the food. By the time everyone had something to eat, no one was eating together, and the quality of the food was disappointing across the board. The service was just as bad. We had to repeatedly ask for water refills, and when we were finally ready to leave, we even had to ask for our check because no one came back to our table. When we asked why everything was taking so long, we were told they **didn't have any clean plates** and were waiting for dishes to be washed before they could serve food. To make matters worse, when we expressed how unacceptable the experience was, we were told there was **no manager working that evening**, nothing could be done about the bill, and essentially, "it is what it is." Long waits can happen, but cold food, extremely delayed meals, poor communication, inattentive service, and zero effort to make things right are unacceptable. We left frustrated, disappointed, and feeling like our business didn't matter at all. Unfortunately, I can't recommend Shenanigans to anyone based on this experience, and we certainly won't be returning. read more

This is one of the few nice bars in Portage for visitors staying at a hotel (walking distance) off the highway. They have a great outdoor covered bar which was fun during a thunderstorm. The bartender was great to chat with all night and had a lot of stories to tell. The food was just OK. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences I have EVER HAD. One of the only customers there at the time, ordered a few orders of boneless wings, 1 order of traditional wings, and some chicken tenders with fries. All of these items came out at completely different times. The first 3 orders of "boneless wings" were cut up chicken tenders and were cold. 20 minutes after the boneless wings our traditional wings came out with the wrong sauce. The waitress took them back and then brought us more "boneless" wings? We did not get the tender baskets until half an hour after the traditional wings. The fries were soggy and both baskets had a cut in half chicken strip. Our waitress did not come check on us once during this stay even though the place was practically empty. We had to go track her down for refills on our waters. They didn't have any clean plates or baskets to give us so we could share our wings with our table. And they did not have any ketchup. When we brought up the long wait time to the waitress her reply was "we aren't a normal restaurant"...?? Will never go back. read more

Bar tender was drunk upon our arrival, was talking inappropriately to my 9 year old, then proceeded to pass out. We were then served by two people who were not employeed at the restaurant (because the employee whocpassed out had already took our order) and one of them had a gun. Try explaining all of this to a 9, 7, 6, and a 4 year old child. The owner showed up because someone alerted her to the situation and when we went to check out, we said we weren't paying. This place is a trash hole. Tv has never worked since the business opened (12 years ago). It's about 50 degrees in here and if you ask about turning the heat up they say no. The pull tabs used to be in service but they no longer have their license..... they don't have draft beers (their machine has been down forever). Their bartender got snappy on us because we asked to turn the heat up and said that she doesn't pay the energy bill. Really disappointed I wasted my money here since clearly the owner is cheap as fuck. read more

The most amazing Bangers and Mash I have ever had! We went around 2:30 in the afternoon so it is a slow time but was also staffed for a slow time. There was one cook and the waitress and a large party had came in prior to our arrival. The waitress was straight forward about the possible wait time for the dish but we opted to order anyway and get an appetizer. This dish is worth every minute of the wait! Absolutely phenomenal! The waitress was amazing as well. Can't wait to go back! It's going to be hard to order anything else after getting the B&M but there were some other options I had my eye on. read more

Came here for an out of town baseball tournament. One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to! One waitress and cook for the whole restaurant! If you enjoy these things in a restaurant but here eating food, then Shenanigas is the place for you. It seemed like there was only one person working at the bar and serving all the tables. She told us she would be right with us and to sit anywhere. We sat on their patio for 20 minutes, and received no service whatsoever, and contented ourselves with watching the drunken couple next to us. Certain our server would come! We went for lunch here on a Thursday. I had a Cobb salad which had lots of turkey and bacon on it. The food was above average for a bar/grill. The real cool thing is the outside patio. Great place to watch sports. NBA Playoffs are on and they have about 7 TV's located in good spots in the main bar area for viewing at any angle. Good music on the jukebox. Mostly a mix of 90's and 00's music (pop and rock). Prices are reasonable but the main selling point is the staff. They are all nice and have a great sense of humor. read more

We had the Shenanigans burger and pulled pork sandwich. Both were completely within the boundaries of exactly what one would expect...no surprises and up to snuff. We hada beer and Bloody Mary, both as expected, exactly what we had ordered. The owner stopped by our table with his dog and chatted about where we are from (Prince!) and where he is from--Asheville, GA. Super nice guy, great wait staff, accurate and quick delivery of tasty food... just what one would expect. Happy to recommend this to others. read more

This restaurant was a disgrace to the name of Irish pubs. The bar tender/waiter was very unfriendly. He would walk outside every 30 seconds to vape and the fumes would follow him back in. Was told pizza would take more than an hour to make. 2 orders came wrongly made. The burgers were frozen patty's and more than one hard piece was found in them. After the food was delivered the waiter never returned to check. There was no salt and pepper on the table either. We were staying at a hotel across the street so we figured we'd wander over and try it. It wasn't bad, but the bar tender wasn't all that friendly. I asked if there were usually more people there and she seemed put out by my question. There were literally more people working than there were customers. Oh, where do I begin...probably the worst dining experience I've ever had. (This took place in April 2013). 1) Had never been here before so we didn't know you could seat yourself. Stood in the lobby where the waitress could see us for several minutes before she even said anything. Should have been our first clue... 2) It wasn't the cleanest environment: dirty silverware, sticky table, sticky floor, etc. Felt like I needed to shower once I left. Should have been our second clue, but we were trying to keep an open mind... 3) Service was interesting. Waitress barely paid any attention to us, never checked on us for refills or cleared empty plates, and made no attempt to really be cordial. Pretty sure her kid was at work with her that night as there was a young child, sitting in the bar area coloring and kept demanding her attention about every 10 minutes. 4) We ordered a nacho appetizer. It was served to us about 20 minutes later. My husband and I quickly realized that it wasn't our order, but something similar. We had already decided that this was not the type of place to send something back so we just went with it. About 4 chips in the waitress comes back and snatches it off the table and says "sorry, wrong table" or something along those lines. She came back about 5 minutes later with our correct appetizer. My husband was curious as to whether the former appetizer was served to someone else because it didn't look like it had been touched when she took it from us, so he walked around the restaurant pretending to locate the bathroom and sure enough, the exact plate was now being eaten by another poor, unsuspecting customer in another section of the restaurant. 5) I can't remember the exact name of what I ordered but it was something along the lines of a grilled cheese sandwich with extra good stuff: tomatoes, different cheeses, bacon, etc according to their menu. I'm pretty sure what I received was the kid's meal grilled cheese. One piece of barely melted kraft singles cheese between two slices of white, discount grocery store bread. I've made more elaborate grilled cheese sandwiches at home before going grocery shopping for the week. No fries, although I'm pretty sure that was supposed to come with what I actually ordered as well. Again, not wanting to send it back out of fear as to what could possibly come back to me, I suffered through a few bites of it. 6) My husband ordered fish that was on special that night. It smelled and tasted pretty funky according to him. He took a few bites and decided that continuing was not in his best interest. He ate his cold box prepared mashed potatoes with canned gravy instead. 7) The cherry on top of this wonderful evening was the clientele in this fine establishment on this particular evening. There was a kid who couldn't have been more than 15 years old sitting at a table near us with a math text book and a pop bottle full of chewing tobacco remnants that he consistently spat into. Maybe the waitress's other child? If not, he was just someone loitering who probably should have been asked to leave. It was pretty clear he hadn't taken a shower in a few days nor did he know how to pull up his pants, tie his shoes, or which direction to wear his hat. (Not trying to sound old - I'm aware that a lot of what I described is in style but this type of disheveled dress didn't look normal for any generation or as if it was on purpose). His "wife beater" was probably originally white but it was hard to tell. Instead of working on his homework, he basically looked around the room, frequently fixating on us as we were one of the only other people in the place. He was a talker in obvious need of some attention, although with a mouthful of chew it was just incoherent mumbling. But yet, my husband and I could make out some pretty colorful language. When another couple came in he left us alone and watched their incredibly heated argument and the lady's constant flow of tears and nagging for the rest of the time we were there. Our tab was about $35 after being charged for what we actually ordered instead of what we received; but we weren't about to negotiate. We just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. I have been here a few times and every time we go we order the same thing... Chicken wrap/turkey wrap.. Its always made different sometimes it comes with fries sometimes not. I ordered a cup of ranch on the side, I wanted it for my fries. My food was severed 45 minutes later. We were the only people there eating, 3 people sitting at the bar. When my food was served I was told sorry the cook put it on your wrap as she walked away to chat with a male sitting at the bar. We had to to call her back for a pop refill which she rolled her eyes to. After eating we had to go to the bar to pay for our meal and no apologies for messing up my wrap. I would say we have given this place at least 5 attempts to make our food right and have a nice server and we have given up. read more

Upbeat and quick with a delish Cosmo! When she took our order she asked how I wanted the burger cooked, big points! I said medium and was cooked really nicely this time. We split the burger and a great Reuben. My fries were crispy as I ordered them. They still were pretty slow for an 8 pm on a Friday night and I cannot get over that ridicules sliding door to the kitchen. I am not sure if that is due to service or inconsistent food but I hope my next experience is as good as the last one! 3.5 stars would be a better review if I had the chance. read more

We were visiting from California on our way to the Notre Dame game. This little spot was right across from our hotel, which was nice. It was quiet for a Friday night. It ramped up a little with karaoke. The staff, including the bartender Melanie were super friendly to us (obviously Californians/outsiders). The food was good for pub fare. And there was a full bar with good craft beer selection. If we ever run through Portage again, we'll stop there. read more
