With Bass Pro Shops and Hooters it's a veritable one-two punch of family entertainment and refreshment! :-P It's been years since I'd been to a Hooters, so I wasn't expecting the "newer" style wings. I recall that in days of yore the wings came out with the drummies and flappers still attached to one another. Now, they're separated. This saddens me because that's what *all the other* wing joints do. Used to feel good that Hooters had this culinary way to separate itself. Alas, no longer. That said, I do like the light breading on the new wings. And they weren't overcooked to a leatheren crisp like the wings I've gotten lately from the place with the talking spokes-bison. I meant to eat ten and ate twenty! And the parm garlic and lemon pepper rubs are both winners. The crab legs didn't impress, though. The legs were tiny and the shell had no snap--more typical of the cheapo crab you get at AYCE buffets. (Here's another chance to stand out, Hooters!) This place is similar like Schererville location terrible service and hooter girls seems ignorant and do not care about DoorDash or Uber Eats orders which it takes FOREVER to wait. In the Portage (Valparaiso) area from California for a few days and decided to grab some of my favorite wings, beer and smiles before heading home. Couldn't have had a better visit. The wings were on point as always, but the star of the show was most definitely Andy. She was so friendly with the most amazing smile ever. This was my first visit to this location. Although the staff was overall nice, there were quite a few issues with my visit that outweighed the good. When we arrived we were pretty much seated immediately, but since they only have up to 6 seat tables and we had seven they Sat us at a high stool table and a low seat table close to each other instead of 2 four seat low tables that were available and we could have pushed together. We ordered regular drinks , 1 alcoholic beverage, pretzels and cheese, and fried pickles as appetizers along with kids chicken tender meals first. The kids meals were delivered(without the fruits cups or sauces) and the appetizers were delivered, everything was hot and delicious. Alcoholic beverage came right when appetizers arrived. We asked for the fruit cups 4 times through out our time of waiting 35 minutes for our order of 50 wings and fries and Fish and Chips (Waffle fries) . The wings, fries and Fish and Chips were barely warm, no waffle fries , they gave me curly instead. Bought out fresh hot waffle fries but fish was sent back and remade, so had fries without fish. Wings not back so we all nibble on the waffle fries. Still no fruit cups for the kids. One order of Buffalo medium wings (25) bought out but no fries, and the other 25 wings was Parmesan and Garlic. Had finished all the Buffalo wings before fries and Parmesan wings were bought to table. They remade everything, which was good bc it truly made a difference in how the food tasted. Still no fruit cups. When the food comes back, it is hot and delicious! Still no fruit cups. Fish and Chips hot (very greasy) but good! I think they may have been short staffed, but the experience was not what we were hoping for. And the food in stages took away from the overall experience. This is a Hooters by name alone. I've eaten at Hooters all over the country, this one looks and tastes nothing like the others. I actually asked our waitress why everything was different, she had no explanation. The wing sauce is different, the cheese for cheese fries is different, it was microwaved queso dip. I don't know why we keep trying but about every 6 months we get a craving and order from door dash. Three times they have left out the crab legs. they always miss a side. The person who answered the phone wasn't unkind but stated that they knew we still had part of our order there but that the driver only showed them the ticket for the wings.
