Pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is very laid back and you can enjoy the sunset and ocean while eating your meal. Our family split the blackened fish sandwich, fish tacos and mushroom Swiss burger. The burger was good, nothing fancy but the fish sandwich and tacos were SO good! Love coming here, such a deal compared to off base restaurants on Kaua'i. Plus the beach on this base and outside Shenanigan's cannot be beat! You feel like you are all alone and have your own private beach. There is never anyone out here and it's a beautiful beach too. Plus it's on the west side of the island so sunsets are perfect! Food is good , certain nights they only have a themed buffet or pizza available. Other nights thy have a full menu. We ate twice this trip here , one night a holiday season buffet and second time off their full menu. Hamburger is very good! They also have a full bar offering. read more

If you have the privilege and are able to access this military base--Shenanigan's Restaurant/Bar is a real HIDDEN GEM. It is set right on the beach with unobstructed views and a very spacious lanai to kick back and enjoy. TIP: Go for the sunset. Impressive, well stocked bar with plenty of seating and TV's. The food was also well portioned and tasty. We tried the chicken strips/fries, wings, and pizza. All were served HOT and DELICIOUS and came with multiple dipping sauces: ranch/dijon/blue cheese. We like coming here when we are staying at the cottages. Truth be told, that's probably the only reason we'd even be here. The menu has pretty much what you'd be looking for but the food much better than expected. We've eaten here a few times, my wife loves the fish & chips and I've had pizza, fish sandwich (grilled not fried) and the Kalua pork. All were good. Nice surprise being the only game in town/base. The food is really good, while having a location that beats many of your best Hawaiian resorts. Best thing about it, is the locals pretty much run the place so many of the dishes are not the applebee's microwave food you'd expect. If you have access to the base, this place is not to be missed. read more

Not the greatest place to eat but is a must if you are staying at the cottages or inn. View is awesome, restaurant looks very nice and we'll kept. Try to go by sunset is a relaxing environment with chill music we ate our dinner and watch the sun come down. Food was good and reasonable prices! And the Major's Bay dessert is must!!! read more

Of all the things we experienced on our trip to Kauai, my husband might speak most about Shenanigans fish & chips. Huge pieces of delicious (not greasy) fish with seasoned waffle fries. A large basket for only $8.50. My husband couldn't get over the price! A few days later he had fish & chips in Lihue that was mediocre in comparison and paid over $20. This place is beautiful in the evening- can't beat the location, drink and food prices. Highly recommend! read more

Really wanted to enjoy it given the view and atmosphere but just couldn't. Sat outside with my family and our order took an hour to show up "due to a large carry out order ahead of us". . In the mean time, whatever swarming bugs they were enjoyed our legs leaving welts in the morning. The food, hot wings, fish n chips, salads with no better than average. Service was poor. Been here multiple times over the years and service and food remain well below average - a shame given the potential. Someone needs to address the management of this place. read more

This is a GREAT place to go for dinner if you have the ability to get on the base. The view of the sunset was very camera worthy, the service was friendly, and the food was much better than expected. The best feature of this establishment is that me and my wife got an appetizer, two personal pizzas, three alcoholic beverages, a soda, and two deserts for under $40 which is a BARGAIN for Hawaii! read more

Was extremely disappointed! Service was horrible, waited 25 minutes before we got up and got our own menus and waters. Waitress came another 15 minutes later and took our order. Place was not that busy, maybe 6 other tables. My meal came out cold and my guests meal came out undercooked. 2 stars is only for the view. Waters were never refilled or asked how our meals were. Great food, great service, large portions, amazing sunsets, and a great price! There were 6 of us on a Monday night. There were very few customers and our drinks and appetizers came very quickly, within 15 minutes, and our orders within 15 minutes after that. I loved my burger and waffle fries, my husband liked but not loved the "ribeye" steak, (we're not entirely sure if it was). The rest of our guests liked their chicken tenders and fish of the day. But the 2 that ordered fish and chips said their fish was bland. With drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert our bill came out to $106 dollars which is pretty amazing for Hawaii! read more

Beautiful and quiet location out on the PMRF beach. Restricted access to military personnel. I had the cheeseburger and Cajun fries. My wife had the Ono. Both were good but not tremendous. Can't beat the location. Unpredictable patronage makes it hard for the staff to keep up on busy nights. We had to wait a little longer than usual to get our food. But they did the best they could and we're friendly. read more
