What an awesome place! Saxon Hall is a former blacksmith shop turned pub and restaurant, and they…read morehave remnants of their history everywhere, from wooden beams to old stone walls. It has a great, dive-y Midwest feel, and the staff is exactly what you think of when you hear "Minnesota Nice." They're well know for their pizza, which we couldn't pass up, but we also gambled on their cheese curds and were blown away. The curds are served with their house marinara sauce, which was fantastic, and is served on many of their pizzas. For our dinner, I split the Deluxe, which is basically a supreme pizza, and wow was it good. The pizzas here are made from scratch with fresh ingredients and the flavor profile of it really shows. This was the first time I've ever been, and I can assure you I'll be back again. Don't miss this place!!!

The history of the building is pretty neat and it's right in the middle of a Main Street with houses. It had a cool outdoor space and pretty interior. There were just a few locals in there when we stopped. The bartender was friendly and accommodating. We ordered the crab rangoons which my kids scarfed down immediately and said they were really good! We also got a 16 inch deluxe pizza. It was pretty good too. Nice little find in southeastern MN.

Everyone was very friendly! When asking for special substitutions (regular chicken breast instead of breaded for chicken Parm), they didn't hesitate to help me out. The mozzarella sticks were very good. Not too often you get homemade mozzarella sticks! The chicken Parm was good too. The side salad was a nice touch and was nicely done. Portions were very good, ended up needing a takehome box. Prices were also very good. ~$50 for two sodas, appetizer, and 2 entrees. Would rate this a good experience overall!

We were a little apprehensive since we are from Chicago. We ordered the pizza and an order of Mozz sticks. The pizza crust was crisp and cooked perfectly, was it Chicago pizza? No it wasn't, was it good? Yes it sure was. We took the left overs. The small pizza is huge! The Mozz sticks were good and enough to feed 4 people. Service was very friendly and personable. This a great spot to stop in for pizza and beers, giving off sports like pizza spot vibes.

We are SO incredibly sad to hear this fine establishment will be closing its doors this coming…read moreMarch. While not always on the menu, ask for a raspberry lemon drop and you won't regret it. The BEST one I've ever had. I will be begging the bartenders to teach me their ways before they close their doors. This is our top choice in town to celebrate accomplishments and achievements. The tavern and patio offer a more casual ambiance, while the restaurant itself is chic and has an element of more formality. The staff is always ALWAYS incredible and thoughtful. The food is always on point, interesting, and flavorful. This place will be well-missed come March, but I know I will be back here plenty in the mean time to get my fill and and support this staff before then.

We were so fortunate that they were able to seat us on the outdoor patio facing the water. This restaurant isn't just great for the views--the food and drinks here were phenomenal as well. Our appetizers of beer-battered cheese curds and mussels were so flavorful and hit the spot. We also loved our fish tacos and linguini with scallops (I absolutely loved the crushed red pepper that came with it too!). Our food all paired nicely with their extensive cocktail/drinks menu, which included many different breweries and distilleries. This is one of those restaurants you'll remember visiting forever--definitely come visit if you can!
