There was an elder gentleman right across the street sitting on his porch with two dogs that greet folks coming and going. Walking in, we exchanged "hellos" with a gentleman that was leaving and he was very friendly and gave us a laugh. Going in, you could tell there were regulars straddles up to the bar and having a good time. Both bartenders that day we very personable without going over the top or acting like they couldn't be bothered. Basically treated you like they've known you for ever. Food was typical bar food. Honestly, since I was there for the fish, I only paid attention long enough to determine that this might be a place to bring the spousal unit next time. They had four choices for the fry - cod, catfish, blue gill and flounder (the last two are what we got). You get two sides and a roll with the dinner, one side with a basket. I had steak fries and hush puppies - both were just right. The flounder was good, but I'll give the cod a try next time. My friend's blue gill dinner was generous - looked like 5-6 pieces, while my basket had three good sized pieces (I ordered an extra side). Prices were very reasonable. The food came out fast, the music was low enough that we could hear each other without yelling, and the service was excellent. Honestly, the only minor quibbles were that there was too much food to leave room for dessert, and that it was a bit chilly sitting by the window! Definitely will put this into our rotation!

What a hidden gem!!…read more We were just passing through and stayed at an Airbnb nearby. Unfortunately missed dinner--but after seeing the menu, I wish we hadn't! Duck, quail, rabbit, steak, and so much more. The menu was incredibly impressive. However, breakfast was delightful. We had an omelet made with fresh vegetables from their garden, French toast, a chocolate croissant, an almond butter croissant, herbal tea, and fresh cold-pressed grape juice. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. On our way out, we even picked up some tomatoes and carrots from the farm table. 10/10 on everything. Beautiful farm-to-table food, fresh ingredients, and wonderful service--all served by nuns! It really doesn't get much better than that. We'll definitely make a point of coming back for dinner next time.
