Shell Shack - Seafood Near Me - Mesquite, Texas

Food is terrible they premake the food 8 hours in advance then when you come in to order it the food is all dried out and has no flavor!! I ordered the seafood boil and the sausage was so dried out that it tasted like rubber and the shrimp was so dry I couldn't eat it and I ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo that was awful it was barely any meat in it and that gumbo was straight from the can,so I recommend you not to waste your time dining here go across the street to Roadhouse that would be a better choice for your money!!!! read more

Came in location was pretty dead amount 10:30pm. Sat down and was greeted by the bartender. He handed me a menu and at first i wasn't gonna eat but saw the poboy samich and said why not!. He told me the cat fish was not that hood but the shrimp was on point. I ordered a grilled shrimp poboy. Came out pretty fast about 10min wait. Fried were nice and crunch the only draw back to the sandwich was the tomatoes were soggy not crispy they looked fresh bit were dropped. The def put enough shrimp in the poboy the flavors good and it wasn't over done to where the bread is soggy. All in all the poboy is solid Grill shrimp Poboy 6 outa 10 Fries 6 outa 10 nice and crunchy Service 6 outa 10 I'd come back for poboy read more

There are definitely better places. My review is 3/10. The service was terrible, the restrooms were dirty, and the staff seemed completely uninterested in helping. The only decent thing was the alcohol, although it was overpriced. I got the Ace Special Kitchen Sink with lobster tater tots, and it came out to $40.04. Overall, portions are inconsistent. In my opinion not worth the price, and I wouldn't come back. read more

It's been a while since we've been to this location but I'm glad we went. My daughter and I went for a mommy daughter date night and received the most amazing service from our waiter Chris! He was very attentive, very kind and kept our drinks filled to the brim! The food was delicious and came out pipping hot! Would definitely go back and ask for Chris! read more

My husband and I dined at the Mesquite location and we had such a great experience thanks to Crystal! She came to our table quickly, made sure our drinks were perfect, and continued checking on us throughout our meal without ever being overbearing. Her friendly attitude, attention to detail and jokes definitely made the visit enjoyable. I can tell she likes to take care of the people that come in.I hope she see's this! --thank you, Crystal you're amazing! read more

Tonight, we thought we'd give Shell Shack another shot after 3 years. The atmosphere was on point and the service was great Mel, made sure she took very good care of her guest. She truly was amazing with her quickness of drinks them recommending plates or taste to ordering food for comfort. The manager came out to check on us it was cold outside so Mel, made sure we were cozy to enjoy football & food. Very good service thank you Mel for your hospitality read more

This was my first time going here and I heard my family and friends say how good it was. So I recently tried it out and I was impressed! It wasn't crowded, that's a plus for me.(Covid) We shared the calamari for an appetizer and they gave us plenty and it was good and crunchy. Then my friend ordered the seafood gumbo and she enjoyed it. I had the "All Star" boil and It was on point! It was enough food for me to enjoy for the next day!. I also had a a drink called the "Four Horsemen " the bartender made for me because I don't really like sweet dranks, It was good and strong! I'll Be Back! ( in my Terminator voice) read more

The food at any shell shack I've ever been to SO FAR has for the most part always been enjoyable!! Can be a little salty but overall delicious. Like that's one thing for sure that I can say is that I've never had a complaint or dislike for anything that I've ordered in regards to flavor . Now what I can and will complain about is the quantity as well as the prices . They are so overpriced, and I swear what keeps me coming to them despite my dislike for their prices is their being open late hours, for majority of the locations are open to about 2am as well as they are the only place that I know that serves Bairdi snow crab which to me is a snow crab that taste like Dungeoness crab . But the late night hours Is the what keeps me coming . when out late leaving concerts , or late night shows, bar and or events and you're wanting something a little more fulfilling than Waffle House , IHOP, dennys etc , shell shack is still open. I received the ticket , it was a little over $90 and I thought that was a decent bill amount for 2, that is until i realized that that was just my ticket alone and that my sister had an entire bill of her own . We didn't order much at all, but learned that for what we paid in total or even separately, we definitely could have did our own seafood boil at the house and fed the entire neighborhood lol ! Again , the flavor is always on point , food is always fresh . It's really just the prices that I'm not a huge fan of . read more

The manager was DRUNK at the bar, singing loud and inappropriate lyrics to the waitresses. It felt very uncomfortable, our lovely waitress tried to keep us distracted. They had to turn off all the music because of his behavior. Then most of the staff was in and out of the side doors going into their cars hang out and come back in to check on things. We could literally see them through the window. Definitely looking for a new crab place. read more

Went on Friday for a late lunch. The restaurant is nice and our server was cool. So, once I received my food...I was quickly reminded as to why I never returned to shell shack after trying them twice 7 years ago. The fried pickles and fries were probably the only good thing we had. -crab stuffed tator tots: bland, no seasoning whatsoever but they were cooked ok -wings: fried way too hard! I like to mix mine with my seafood boil but I couldn't enjoy them at all. -crawfish: the kitchen sink sauce was bland and not spicy at all. I'm tired of these places not cooking the crawfish in the spices or not knowing how to get the flavor inside the mud bug. And when I say spicy...I mean spicy!!! Ugh! They weren't overcooked and were a nice size so I'll give them that. I also think kids meals at any and all restaurants should come with the drink. My daughter liked her buffalo wings and fries so, if she asks... I might go back only on the strength of her...I guess I can always enjoy a cocktail and fried pickles read more

This place is disgusting with very poor customer service. A young last found worms in her bag and the manager had the audacity to give her attitude when she complained. I would be mortified if I ever opened my food to see worms. There are other options for seafood, please stay away from this place. Protect your health. They also offered her "gifts" to remind be complaints from social media. Smh. Shameful read more

I HOPE SOMEONE READS THIS!!!!!! It was my brother's birthday and we came to try to have a good time... For starters there was literally only 3 tables besides us, so the food should of came fast, everything we order came all at different times.. and right before we got our food the came to tell us that all the plates that came with fries since they were out we could only have hush puppies or onion rings (mind you my kids cant have either) I don't really mind things running out but I feel is something we should know ahead of time and when we asked her if we could change our plate she said no because they had already made it, and when we got our food the fries tasted horrible. It was like a leftover in the freezer kinda taste and how where you completely out but now you got some (yeah sketchy right) anyways.... I was the first one to order and last one on the whole table to get my food. I just feel like overall the experience was horrible!!!!!! We brought a cake to cut, and to finish with a cherry on top there was A ROACH!!!! crawling under my sons chair!!!!!! Yeah we left, no thanks!! We rather cut the cake at home!! We didn't complain because we don't want nothing comp we actually came just to have a nice experience THATS ALL!!! Because thats why people go out right? to have a good time and enjoy with others. We use to love this location cause it was close to home and never had a bad experience but I feel like all the bad things that never happened before they all happened today and on a birthday so disappointed!!! But on a good note our waitress was nice read more
