This Shell location seems bigger than most. I was in the area and noticed they have a car wash, so I decided to pull in and get a car wash here! I went inside to purchase a code for the car wash -- apparently you need to purchase gas or else they charge you an extra $1 for the car wash. But the man at the register was very nice and didn't charge me the extra $1 cause I didn't need any gas, so that made me happy :D Car wash price ranges from $6 to $10 depending on how clean you want it (refer to the photo). Anyways, went back in my car and pulled over to the car wash entrance -- was kind of surprised there were so many cars! There was two car in front of me and another two cars behind me, but the wait wasn't too long since I wasn't in a rush or anything. Well the car wash was quick and easy -- enter the code, drive up until the light turns red and just put your car in park and relax until it's alll done :) The exterior of my car is all clean now! Decent car wash at a good price. Lines can be long because it is self service and some people do not know how to use the machines. You do not drive your tire onto a gear for this one you simply drive forward on the green light. When the light turns red you park in the middle and turn your car off. Your car stays stationary and the brushes & sprayers move around you. When the wash is over the light turns red and you turn your car on and drive out. read more

I had a really bad day at this gas station at 6:30pm just. First of all, the car washing machine malfunction. So I brought my receipt to the service and asked for another code or reimburse. Ok, this 6 feet tall guy did the reimbursement for me and then told me that he need to keep my receipt . I was trying to explain to him that I need my original receipt back because that belong to my company and I need that for the accounting department. This man became rude and spoke in his native language and told me off. There were several people in the line and I didn't want to make it big so I just went away. This gas station is well lit and is cheaper than the Chevron across the street. There is the occasional panhandling (and apparently more people drive up to the gas station without wallet these days) but I guess where you are in San Jose or the seedier parts of SF this goes with the territory now. The one problem I have is that the nozzles are old and not easy to handle. The worst part is that from time to time the pump automatically shuts off way before the tank gets filled. Everytime I come here to this location, something malfunctions in one way or another. The gas pump doesn't work, one of the stations is out of gas, the machine doesn't take debit cards, the car wash (which is very mediocre to begin with) is out of order AGAIN! Don't even get me started on the time my car got stuck in there one day. I was furious. My friend came here yesterday for a car wash, drives all the way up to the pay station, attempted to pay, only to find out it was...yep guessed it, OUT OF ORDER! Well, help me understand something. I needed to get gas but I was in need of a carwash so I purchased the Express Wash at the pump. Mind you it is lunch time (which is the worst time to go for a car wash) and ended up waiting for an hour (I was in desperate need). When it was time for me to enter the code I decided to upgrade from an express wash to works wash and paid the extra $2. Long story short, I didn't get the works wash after I paid extra. I'm not gonna make it a huge deal since it's just $2 but maybe putting a sign outside saying upgrades must be done inside or whatever would be really helpful. This is where I go if I want a quick car wash during my lunch break. Although, sometimes, I'm not really happy when it comes to checking the rims of my tires because the rubber washer somehow does not really clean it well. Dust still sits on the rims. I guess manual car wash is still the best (I'm loyal to Auto Pride Car Wash for that), but if it's a quickie, this is the place I go. $10 is $10 as long as my windows are all clean and clear, I am happy. (But not happy with those birds pooping everywhere afterwards! LOL) I like that this place is conveniently located near where I work and where I normally buy lunch food. The reason for two stars: if you try to book a wash at the pump, you cannot see the prices of the various code-worded choices (e.g. "ultimate" being the most expensive at $10), so unless you waste time asking, you won't be sure what you are buying until you've chosen. Great place to do business with: every time I go to visit my in-laws I like to gas up here (very good price and carwash). So yesterday I bought gas, ultimate car wash and went Inside to purchased some mints (cherry tic tac). I did take out my wallet and paid (then unknowingly left it there)! I left to get a lunch in Los Gatos. When it comes time to pay for my lunch I found out that I don't have my wallet!!! OMG...I explained the restaurant people that I lost my wallet & that I'll be back (I'm a regular there and they know me), it was no problem. I jump in my car to drive back in to the Shell gas station (it was the last place I remembered where used my wallet). I google them on my iPhone and call: "Did you find a wallet?" "YES WE DID". So I drove there and after answering few questions (verifying my identity) I was reunited with my wallet & and everything inside untouched!). What an honest cashier!!! I rewarded him (OMG - what a relief: in 2 days I'll be flying to visit my grandkids & without my drivers lic. and CC's I can't travel)!!! Zero star!!! I was there around 2:50 pm. My car needed a car wash so I drove to the car wash ( the entrance to the car wash is wide (like two lanes wide) . I did not notice the sigh said " car wash closed". After I paid 11.00 for the ultimate car wash (no sign on the pay machine ). Instead to put in the cash register HE also give away carwash free tickets, by telling customers to sign a Re-print,receipts Them he print a new code receipt. Also noticed he didn't ask for ID some young people ( when purchasing cigarettes ) HE is rude to customers, Also when a customer forgot their credit card on the pump He pick up then use for his own in Fremont gas stations , he had access to reprint receipts. I also don't like that there's an older gentleman at Valero that constantly asks for change every time I pump gas, no hassling here. Clean and safe gas station with a mechanized car wash. The Shell seems easier to navigate compared to the Chevron across the street and I love thier selections of drinks outside of the actual store. They also have Ben and Jerry's ice cream in case you have an emergency pregnancy craving. read more
