This Shell gas station close to Phoenix airport is taking advantage and overcharging people $3 per gallon over any other gas station in Phoenix. I didn't know that Shell gas station can do price gauging, just because they are close to an airport and people that need to return the rental car need to bring the fuel tank full I hope some authorities can enforce the gas price control. The average price of gas in Phoenix is $4.708. The Shell station on the corner of 16th and Buckeye Road charges $6.59/gallon for Premium. OUTRAGEOUS! What a rip off! I was shocked to see how this owner gouges the customers who are returning their rental cars to the airport. If I had not filled my rental car up with gas, it would have cost $4.97/gallon at the airport. I am so upset with people overcharging for no other reason than taking money from the consumer. It's so wrong - I'm surprised there isn't a way to control these prices and people like this who own these companies. I'm completely disgusted with this business. Never have I seen such obvious price gouging. The owner(s) are a disgrace and are taking advantage of travelers. This really makes me sick. On 11/27/23 I chose to fill up my rental car's gas tank; based on convenience to the Phoenix Airport Rental Car Center. As soon as I pulled up to the pump, I regretted that decision. At that time, it was too late to fuel up at one of its competitors. I paid $5.99 gallon for 87 octane gasoline. Since filling up at Shell I have done searches on other stations in the same area. The other filling stations were all far below $4 per gallon. Never again will I fill up any gas tank at a Shell station. They lost a customer for life. Like many people I'm sure, I never even checked the price of gas at this Shell because I wasn't expecting to be robbed. So as I was fueling my 26 gallon tank, I noticed that the price of regular gas was pumping at $3.699 a gallon. Shocked and embarrassed I guess because I knew I was just shammed, I continued pumping. Lesson learned! FYI, I wouldn't come here to get fuel if your paying with your own money. If it's a company purchase by all means use this station. read more

Stopped here to fill my rental car with gas prior to returning it. Card wouldn't work at the pump. Went inside to pay. Was basically ignored by the clerks for about fifteen seconds. One finally came over and the first thing out of his mouth was, "Don't tell me to fill it up." After a minute or so of trying to get the guy to explain what I was supposed to do I just left and let the rental car company overcharge me for gas. Totally made no sense to me. read more

I cannot believe how much I just paid for gas for a rental car. Gas was $3.49 by my hotel. I wanted to make sure my budget rental car had a full tank of gas when I left it with him I knew I would pay a bit extra filling up near the rental car return. Maybe $.25 a gallon more? I would never have guessed $1.50 a gallon more. Worse yet, I felt terrible for the female cashier. She says she has angry people comment all the time. She says the price of gas is more because it's close to the rental car return. This poor woman does not get paid enough to take the abuse from customers that just realize they were deeply gouged. I hope this owner can sleep at night. This is not the America I want to live in. Consider how much it will cost to leave your rental car and let them fill it up. Im sorry to say that they have lost a loyal customer, the over price for gas as Im ok with but the rude customer service I received today it will not stand well with me. The Minute Mart Shell at 1515 E Buckeye Rd Phoenix Az 85034. Besides gas i went in and bought $20 of powerball tickets I ask to break a $20 so i can buy some scratch tickets says she didnt have change it was for paying customers. Not sure what I was but I grab a candy bar to buy with the $20 ($3 by the way) and she went off at me. I had to ask her to stop yelling at me. Im not a kid Im 40. Saying that she needs the change for customers for tonight so I guess im not important I ask her if she was going to refuse my sale. One thing is that it was on 9/10/22 a Saturday at 2pm in the afternoon and you don't have change? Needs to get trained by QT, that will be my go to gas station now. During my lunch break I went to get me a Starbucks coffee and when I got in the car about to open it i realized it wasn't SEALED like the other ones I usually buy so I went back inside and told the clerk and HE SAID I JUST WANTED TO GET A DIFFERENT FLAVOR. My rating is zero stars. DO NOT USE this station, which is conveniently located to the Phoenix airport -- for a reason. They charge more than a buck over the going gas rate in the market to gouge people when they return rental cars. In addition, upon checking my bank account when I returned home, I discovered they had dinged my account TWICE for the same small gas charge. They knocked off a few cents the second time and charged it from another Shell station in the area. They know customers live in other states and can't be bothered to make a fuss over a small charge.
