    Found the culprit
    Stephanie L.

So my tire lost pressure. It's the first time I'm pumping air and was confused as to where to read the gauge (apparently it pops up after you start pumping). Anyhow, asked the gas attendant (who was super rude, but still thankful he told me to see the mechanics). When I approached Ravi to ask how I'd be able to read the gauge, he explained how it worked but also said he'd be able to check and fill the tires for free. And in that process, the culprit was discovered. They were able to quickly patch it up for me. Super grateful for kind and fast service. Thumbs up for the mechanic team there (thumbs down for the condescending old man manning the cashiers inside the Shell shop. Seriously it doesn't cost anything to be nice.)

Ravi took care of me and valued my time as a first time customer and got it done within 20 mins as he promised. Good and reasonable pricing for a smog. Other shops were charging $120 + for a simple smog.

I do NOT recommend these guys. I took my car in for a CA smog check, for which they charge $50,…read morewhich includes the mandatory DMV $8.25 transmission fee, and the station's $41.75 fee for running the test. As I later learned, the first step checks whether the car's emission monitors are set. As it happens, because my car had been in another shop for unrelated body work, apparently the battery had been disconnected during repairs. That then required the emission monitors to be reset, which happens normally during the first 100 or so miles of driving. As my mechanic later informed me, at that point a reputable smog and repair station would have told me to drive for a couple days and come back to have the test run. Instead, Palo Alto Shell charged me their entire $41.75 fee - for nothing - and said I'd have to return for a retest for an additional $50. My regular mechanic told me all this after the fact, and offered to check the monitors (for free) before I took it for another smog check. Needless to say, I'll go elsewhere for my smog check and will never go to Palo Alto Shell again for gas or any other service.

Cheap gas, cold Slushies, eclectic staff (except for the b*tchy blond - story below), and a great…read morelocation. I've always loved stopping here except for this one time two weeks ago. I pulled in to fill up my lovely car, put the nozzle into the tank opening and started to pump. The gas pressure was so hard that the nozzle flew out of the opening of the gas tank and started spraying everywhere. Gas covered me, my dress, my hair, my shoes, inside of my car (the top was down), all over the outside of my car and spewed all over the ground. I picked up the nozzle and managed to get it back into the tank opening only to have it kick out again. Third try and I had to forcefully nurse the gas into the car. I was on my way to an event so I had no time to go home and shower. I moved my car to a parking space and got out to report the incident to the staff only be greeted by this b*tch asking if I was the one who sprayed gas all over the ground. I told her what happened and she started yelling at me saying it was my fault. I calmly explained that in my entire life I had never been assaulted before by a gas pump and that their gas pressure was clearly too high. It was not a pleasant exchange and, soaked with gas, late for my event and throughly upset, I left. I've been back since for Slushies, but will never buy gas here again. If you decide to take your chances with these vicious pumps, make sure you have time for a shower afterwards just in case.

Good god, $4.99 a gallon? I get it's Los Altos. Place down the street is $3.70. Wowread more
