I would not take my car anywhere else. Joey is not only a great mechanic, he is incredibly honest and nice. The shop is run great and they will help fix anything there. I have a 2004 Mini Cooper and they know exactly how to make it run the way it did years ago If you are looking for a mechanic around the Needham area, there is place better. read more

Joey, the garage owner, is knowledgeable, honest, and unfailingly kind. I've had to do a series of 16-hour drives over the last few years and he has been great looking at my 2015 Accord to make sure it'll make it, letting me know what's not safe now and what will need to be fixed in the next few months. And he has somehow kept my husband's old hauling van running as well. It's great when you can find a mechanic you can trust! read more

Re: State Inspection The gentleman running the location is very friendly and professional. The inspection was smooth and as fast as could be. As I had no other work done , this review is only for the inspection and fabulous friendly service. read more

Used this garage a couple of times and have mixed feelings. It seems that the work quality is good and the place is generally clean and professional. However, the repair bill tends to always be much higher than the initial estimate. Like half-again higher, which defeats the purpose of an estimate, in my opinion. I would recommend that they stick to their numbers more closely, and the prospective consumer requests a firm commitment. read more

When my hybrid car suddenly died on I-95, this was the nearest service station recommended by the towing guy. I had never used Needham Shell before, but they investigated and fixed this issue in a day, including sending someone to a Hyundai dealer to fetch a part, with good communication/updates throughout the process. Later, Joey was very helpful in getting me the documentation I needed to reclaim expenses from Hyundai. I would definitely use them again. read more

Needham She'll has been taking care of my 2009 Toyota Highlander for a few years now. The owner is very well spoken and polite. The service has been quite good. They changed the struts and shocks as well as a number of other repairs such as a pump replacement, brakes, tires with alignment, stickers and ongoing regular maintenance like oil changes and new filters. Car has 115 000 miles and runs like a top! read more

Owner Joey Mansour is the embodiment of high quality customer service. Needham Shell recently towed, diagnosed, fixed and repaired my broken-down car within hours at a reasonable repair rate. Based on the excellent experience I had, I plan to bring all three of my family's vehicles to Needham Shell for future maintenance and repair work. I recommend this shop to anyone all who lives in the Wellesley, Needham, Newton area. read more

Bought a INTERSTATE battery with a 5 year warranty here. Dead in 3..this week. Went back, was told that I would pay $90.00 to get a replacement. so, you get a battery with a 5 year warrant for $180.00 yet you go back in 3 and they tell you it would cost $90.00 to get the green (Free Replacement battery with the sticker on top from Interstate BATTERY)..but the gas station charges you $90.00. My call........@ 66 years old "Shisters with the mighty dollar on there mind" not you! Best of Luck read more

If you want an honest opinion with no pressure, go to this place. I take all my family's cars here. Joey takes the time to explain what is needed and what the issue is. At the end of the day, you can tell he is a person you can trust. I've been a repeat customer since 2005. read more

Tried to take my wife for a ride. Incorrectly failed her inspection, claiming License plate lights out, 2 brake lights out and "soft brakes". Verified for myself that the license lights were working and Another Mechanic verified that the brakes were ok. Only one brake light was out and a marker light they didn't catch was also out. These people are incompetent crooks. Don't go there. read more

I went here is get my yearly inspection done. The inspection was preformed quickly. I had a dangly wire with a missing bulb that they charged me $10 to fix (overpriced, but that's usually how it goes when getting an inspection). My really letdown was that they had to removed my Buffalo Sabres license plate frame because it covered part of my registration sticker. OK, fine. (I've had the frame for years & never heard this, but whatever.) My issue is that they broke the frame & didn't even tell me. Sorry, but it's just rude. Even if you weren't going to replace it, don't act like a child and pretend nothing happened. I'll be going elsewhere next year. Also...gas prices here leave much to be desired. read more

I really love the guy who runs the shop everybody is so helpful and so nice and they're super transparent about pricing I never feel like I'm gonna get taken advantage of! Will not be going anywhere else for any of my car issues for as long as I live in the area! read more

I completely agree with the Yelper who suggested the owner is a clown. Buy gas here? Sure. Have an inspection done? Be careful, because you might get failed for no legit reason. Have any sort of repair done that requires a qualified mechanic? Nope. My wife had a four wheel brake job done here (1200$) and the front end of her Lexus shook like heck right off the lot. When I questioned Joey about it he got defensive and told me she doesn't know how to drive. Okey doke, captain misogynist. So we brought the car to JS Mobil in Newton to get it fixed properly and they resolved it same day. We won't be bringing our vehicles anywhere else going forward. JS is a properly run shop with great ownership. Sorry, Joey. read more

Don't go here for a sticker. They claimed my exhaust was leaking. It was the slightest little crack near my muffler. It wasn't loud at all ended up costing me 800 to fix a damned old car which has been just about as loud the last couple of years and I never had a problem getting a sticker. I'll never go back here won't buy gas there anymore either. Please go out of business soon! read more

Joey is a very patient and knowledgeable guy. I have brought my two cars for work big and small jobs here and i am really suprised what they can do, from open engine repairs to timing belt replacement, at very reasonable price. I stopped going to my dealership for repairs which rips you off by giving you free coffee but charge you thousands more. read more

Pros: friendly staff, honest work / prices, usually can get you in for an inspection quickly Cons: sometimes the lot if very crowded with cars, and their office can get pretty hot in the summer All in all Needham Shell is great, seems like a nice family-run kind of place. I've had nothing but positive experiences here. They do inspections thoroughly so if you are trying to cheat your way through, go elsewhere. But the guys are honest and friendly and will explain to you why you failed inspection and how to fix it. I hope these guys keep doing business for a long time. read more

I gone out of my way to have my cars serviced by Joey and his team for years. I have always found them to be honest, and their work is good, and the service is always top notch. I haven't found a better mechanic. read more

Joey is one of the nicest people in New England. I was in Needham dropping a friend off to work and my radiator fan went out. I'm not a mechanic, and I have a luxury car so I pulled into Joey's place (because I saw on his building that he specializes in Audi, BMW & Mercedes-Benz). I pull into the Not only did Joey fix the fan, but he fixed other things that needed to be fixed as well and didn't charge me anything extra. Also, there was so much I needed to do that day and he provided me with a luxury loaner car to handle all my errands, yet again didn't charge me anything extra. This is by far the best mechanic in New England. I'd give him 5 stars everyday of the week If I could. Look no further folks this is the place to go for all of your mechanical needs... read more

Good for gas or inspection but not great for repairs. I drove car in to fix diagnose power steering issue with intent to support local business. They originally diagnosed it as switch for $500 but then came back saying that they needed to replace entire steering column for $2k (more than car us worth). Got second opinion from dealer and mechanic which thought that it was overkill but since it was already in pieces had no way out. They did give a break by not double charging on labor. read more

I can describe my experience here as frustrating. It is the end of the month and I was looking to get an inspection sticker. Since moving to the area, this Shell station seemed like a convenient place. After failing for a 'foggy headlight', their solution was a cleaning for $60! Thank you for talking down to me and trying to take advantage of someone. I cleaned my own headlights (thank you Pintrest) and got my inspection sticker taken care of in my old town. #ripoff #wasteoftime read more

Integrity. Is there anything more important from the people we trust with our cars? Joey and Needham Shell have it in spades. I have taken three of our cars (Toyota, Ford, and Mazda) here for several years to address a variety of issues including fixing four wheel drive issues, routine maintenance, accident damage, timing belt replacement among other issues. We always receive great service, including a few loaner cars and rides home to support our schedule needs, along with accurate time estimates and fair prices. Having car trouble or needing routine maintenance is a lot easier knowing Needham Shell is just down the road. It is hard to over-state how refreshing it is to do business with such a wonderful family business. Kelley Connolly Needham resident read more

Absolutely the most friendly attentive service. Joey is really wonderful. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I am a customer forever. All of the prices were so clearly explained to me. Thank you Joey. You have made my automobile options clear. read more

Ask for Joey. It's hard to know whether to trust someone who is selling something you don't understand much about, which is me when it comes to auto services. So, I approach car service carefully. Joey has earned my trust over the past year. I've had a lot of different car problems, and sometimes his team hasn't been able to fix the problem the first time. In those situations, they don't charge me for the followup, which is fair but unexpected. I won't go anywhere else. read more

These guys are great. Kareem has always been fair with us - and doesn't nickle and dime us. Example: Today I was changing light bulbs in my car (Do it yourself) and dropped the bulb cover into the bumper well. I visited the station and Kareem removed the bumper on the spot and retrieved the cover. All under 30min. No charge. That's why I continue to go to this station. read more

I stopped in after a long work day to get an inspection. The staff was very helpful and guided me through the process of meeting my inspection (new tires and a headlight) which I was expecting for my old, but well-loved car. I was in and out at right around 2 hours! I spent time at the nearby Starbucks and when I returned, Joey spent time explaining the recommendations for my car (new struts) and whether it would be beneficial for my specific needs and plans for the car. I really appreciated the honest recommendations and the time the manager spent explaining car mechanics to me. If I need more work done on my car, I will definitely come back! read more

Just had a flat tire on my Honda Pilot, Needham Shell quickly and efficiently diagnosed the cause, with the tires being fairly old I opted for two new tires on the rear. The price was fair and the work perfect. I now feel safe heading to vacation this week, and their 10 pm closing time fits right into my work schedule. FIVE STARS!!! read more

I moved to Massachusetts two years ago and was lucky enough to be living near this station, so I didn't have to deal with anyone else. Joey and his guys have taken great care of my Infiniti. He and his staff have great knowledge, are friendly, and charge reasonable prices. I don't take my car anywhere else. read more

I have had nothing but a good experience with Joey (the owner) . I have serviced all of my familys cars there the past 6 years and although its not always good news when your car is broken they fix it quick and on the 1st try. Gas is on the high side but shell gas in the middle of needham it should be expected. I would recommend talking to the owner when tou bring your car in... hes always there. read more

Owner is trustworthy and reliable. Prices not always the best, but i continue to come here because I trust them.

I came to the shell station because I heard some grinding noises from underneath my car. They knew exactly what the problem was right away. They quoted me the cost for the new under carriage (which was a dealer part), but also mentioned that it was only a cosmetic thing and they could reuse the old part by punching a new hole and screwing it back up in place. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes and they wouldn't accept payment for such a minute job. These guys are great, knowledgeable and know exactly what customer service is. They know what's really important and what doesn't matter as much, and won't hesitate to tell you. read more

Had an oil change here about 6 weeks ago for $75/synthetic oil. Yesterday my oil light came on and I took the car to the dealer - when they checked it these guys hadn't changed the filter and just used the old filter when doing my oil change. Shame since I live down the street and have used them for all kinds of things. Not again and recommend staying away from here. read more

Joey and the guys at Needham Shell look after my 3 cars. Completely trustworthy, serious and on time. I found them when my son nicked the wing mirror on our 20 year old Mercedes. He drove around trying to get help. Mercedes dealership where I bought the car wanted $600 for total replacement. Joey at Shell fixed the mirror and sent him on his way. I have a Porsche, Mercedes and Ford. Shell does it all. Small jobs big jobs, paintwork, service and repair. Cannot praise too highly. read more

Don't go here! It's a ripoff. I went in for an inspection. For the second time they said I needed my headlights polished for $40. When I told the owner this was a ripoff he immediately offered to refund the amount. If you read the reviews there's a consistent picture. People who come in for an inspection or oil change get ripped off. This may be how they make money in the short run, but it certainly is NOT HONEST. I use another mechanic for anything other than an oil change or inspection because I would never trust anything these guys do or say. I am female. Don't go here unless you want the aggravation. It is not worth it. read more

I brought my car in for inspection 2 years ago and needed a new exhaust and they replaced. Earlier this month my muffler started to go and I went to another mechanic shop in the town where I live but the price was high so I called Needham Heights Shell and spoke to Joey the owner. He looked up my info from the work done a couple years ago and told me to bring in to take a look and see if there was any warranty on the parts. After the inspection Joey called back to update me that the warranty was only 12 months but he felt bad the part already broke down so he gave me a fantastic deal on a very nice exhaust system and fixed another issue and bundled up into a very reasonable price, service included. I also met his brother in the shop when I returned and he was very helpful and super nice. Everyone working there gives you a very good feeling about being sincere and honest. I will now make Needham Heights Shell my mechanic shop from here on out. I highly recommend this business. read more

Do not go here if you are female! They will ALWAYS try and rip you off. I've gone here for three years and have always been failed, when my male counterparts have passed. They think we are stupid, and are solely trying to take our money. The young girl in front of me also failed...no surprise there. I've taken my car other places and it'll pass, but here it never does. I refuse to pay anymore money here, and would rather get my car reinspected somewhere else. I changed my headlight one day ago, and somehow between me dropping my car off and picking it up my NEW headlight died. I checked it out myself and adjusted it and suddenly it worked again...big surprise the bulb was new and they clearly screwed with it. I will never go back to this place and DO NOT recommend it. It's time this place changes and stops taking advantage of women. I will not stand for it and I believe people should know about the discrimination that happens here. read more

I was there for inspection. My windshield wiper wa working fine, but the technician there said it needs to be replaced. I told them it works and looks fine to me. The technician also said a little back light for the back car plate didn't work. They charged me $8 for the job. I gave my credit card to the owner, he almost took it from my hand to swipe it. He said " whether it passes or not, You have to pay". Then, I was hesitating to sign on the merchant copy (inspection fee +8 for the backlight) He then said, "I don't need your signature", implying the money is already taken". read more

I have come here for an inspection a couple times as it it right near my work. When I came last time I went to their website to see their hours which said they started at 7 am. I got there around 7:30 and was told they didn't start inspections until 8 (even though they were open and had employees there to do inspection). Also failed me over foggy headlights like other reviewer and tried to way overcharge to fix which I did on my own. I was frustrated about the time difference last time but let it go figuring they would update their website. I just came back for another inspection and happened to look at their website and it still says 7 am and when I got here they don't start until 8.
