Been going here for 39 years. Rejected me for an inspection due to a window tint sun shade going below the ta line. Yet let go an off road light not covered t go, dark tint on side windows go, tread at the wear bars. But worried I'd get pulled and hid inspector would loose their license and couldn't feed their family then. Or makes no sense at all. He's worried about a new trooper enforcing the tint law. I don't own a gas car; I own an electric car. So why is someone with an EV leaving a review about a gas station? Simple. Even EVs need an annual State inspection, and what a better place to take my two EVs but to this Shell station where the inspector owns a Tesla! This place gets the job right and fast. I'm very happy with the service. The technician is knowledgeable and customer oriented. And, it keeps me from having to fine some other place or the dealership from getting it done. This past week I took my car to have some repairs done. I needed an oil change, the serpentine belt replaced and the brakes checked. Within less than 3 hours they called me to say that they would not work on my car because it was too old and had too much rust underneath. They said that the car was not worth fixing. Right now, it is the only car I have and I am not in a position to buy another vehicle and am dependent on that car. They did not even take the time to explain what the matter was and what my alternatives were, They handed my key back to me. BEWARE! I took my car for inspection. They recommended 5 other things be done (some expensive like timing belt and spark plugs, which I'd already had done.) Agreed to have them troubleshoot airbag system because the light was on. They said it would take about an hour and would cost $150 for the labor. They called back a short while later to say it threw a code and to tell me that there are open recalls on it. They would be able to fix it, but the dealership will fix for free. so, I paid $150 for the 5 minutes they took to plug the car into a computer, and they already knew there were open recalls for the problem. They shrugged off my complaint about this scenario. I feel like they scammed me! I suppose I'm lucky that I only got suckered into 1 of the 5 things they tried to sell me on. Took my car in for State inspection. They called and said I needed 3 suspension parts to pass at $1450. I was suspicious, as the car drives like butter. If there was damage on 3 of 4 suspensions, I would have felt or heard something. I went by and spoke with them to have it explained, and it didn't make much sense. Something about cracked bushings, but not needing an alignment. I told them to slap a rejection sticker on it. I took it to a dealership the next day. No issues, passed inspection. No cracked bushings. No damage to the suspension. No play in the wheels. This could be an example of an over excited young technician, or this could be an example of something much worse. Either way, I was asked to part with $1450, they had no right to ask for, and withheld legal certification of the fitness of my vehicle, in an attempt to collect. read more

I was in a pinch for time to get my brake repaired. I had a long car trip planned for the weekend and needed things done before I had to leave. They were available to do so, I will give them that. However, they replaced things incorrectly. There is a difference between knowing how to generally replace a broken part and knowing how to do it properly on each different vehicle. The amount of money I paid for a job - to be done incorrectly is overall disappointing prevents me from ever recommending or going back to this establishment ever again. This gas station is more than just a gas station as you can see how nice they decorate and they keep the place so clean. Zach is the manager and he is always so nice and professional. I called today to get my state inspection and oil change and he was able to get me done in one day. The place is so clean and they always have a nice place to wait while you are waiting for your car. Plus the Midlothian apothecary is just one block away and you can have lunch or breakfast while you wait for your car. Once you come here you will understand why it's the best place in Midlothian. If you want to pay maximum charge for a necessary repairs, this is the place for you! I went in for a simple nail in my tire and they tried to sell me 4 new tires did they insisted I need it! I asked with a pass inspection, and their answer was yes. Then why do I need four new tires? Another lady while I was waiting for my tire to be repaired came in with a brake light on moments later her charge was $1800 for a complete brake job which was totally unnecessary! We left our Subaru with specific instructions for only an oil change, inspections, and bulb replacement (for inspection). The final estimate included over $450 in additional work which was pushed on my wife. Typical unneeded add-ons such as power steering flush, serpentine belt replacement, cabin air filter, etc. No inspection was made for these items, simply based on mileage. Using this logic, 100's of other items could have been added. Very disappointed in their business practices and highly suggest others check their recommended work carefully. (Serpentine belt was recently replaced by the way, so they are clearly padding their estimates with unnecessary work to be completed). This is actually our second negative experience, our last full synthetic oil change and we picked up the vehicle with air pressure lights on and the following day the washer fluid light came on. Full price service but not actually full service. Caveat Emptor! read more

My sons car had a bad heater core On his 2001 Cadillac Antifreeze was leaking inside the car They charged us 550 for a new core They said it came with a 1 yr warranty The next day the car had major antifreeze leak We returned the car they said they didn't have time to look at it . The owner called he was very rude and when I told him the core was bad he said don't bring your car into my shop again. I wasted 550 and I had to have someone else redo the job! Here's what you need to know about village tire. The staff is extremely helpful and very pleasant, you can talk to the owner in regard to what your needs are, and they'll treat you fairly and charge you a very reasonable price. They worked on several of my vehicles now, and I just had them put an engine in my 10-year-old car and by doing so they saved me a ton of money and did excellent and quick work.
