Went there today and there were about 6 or 7 cars in front of me got state inspection. Do as I've seen in the past I'm on market street waiting for the next car to pull forward but I am impeding traffic. Not certain what to do as I've seen a line of car prior as they line up to be inspected I did the same. Then an extremely rude man comes over only to find out he works there. The bottom line instead of waiting 2 hours in line I called Virginia Auto in Ashburn I was in and out in less then 30 minutes without the chaos of Shell on Market Street in Leesburg. My advice is go anywhere else but Shell on market street. Easier and cost the same. Shout out to Virginia Auto in Ashburn the earned 5 stars and if I could give shell a zero I would. read more

Absolutely the most unprofessional auto shop I've ever encountered. Do not bring your car here. I arrived hours before my work shift expecting a quick inspection, but ended up waiting over two hours. My car didn't pass, and the mechanic told me the necessary repair would take just 15 minutes. Since I had to leave for work (which I was nearly late for due to the wait), he assured me I could come back the next day at 4:15 pm and he'd take care of it quickly. I returned at exactly 4:15 pm the next day, as instructed--only to be met by the same mechanic, now visibly agitated and throwing a tantrum. He told me he had to leave right away to sign up for a class before 5:00 pm and couldn't help me. Instead, he asked me to leave my car and come back around 7:00 pm to pick it up. I asked why he would tell me to come at 4:15 if he knew he had a time-sensitive obligation. He then said the repair would take an hour, not 15 minutes, and that he didn't want to rush it. When I reminded him of the original estimate, he brushed it off, saying he wanted to "do a good job." So... would it have been a rushed, careless job if I had let him fix it the day before? Then, shockingly, he tried to blame me--saying I left the day before and now he was in the same situation. Absolutely not. I came during regular inspection hours, which don't require an appointment. Every customer is entitled to service if they arrive before close. He scheduled me to come back after hours, at a specific time he chose, then got angry that I showed up. If he had told me upfront about his class, I could've arranged a ride or made other plans--but he didn't. He kept interrupting me, raising his voice, and insisting I was in the wrong. I thanked him for his time and told him I'd find another mechanic. At that point, his demeanor became so aggressive that I genuinely felt unsafe. Two other male employees stood nearby and said absolutely nothing as this man berated a young woman. I left feeling shaken, disrespected, and disgusted. If you care at all about professionalism, communication, or basic decency--do not go here. read more

So I took my car here for emissions and inspection. Online says they open at 6am. They do not. They open at 7, so beware of that. My car wasn't taken back till 7:21 after sitting there for nearly 2 hours. My car did pass, if it hadn't, I would have been livid. read more

Took it straight to another shop and it passed! These guys are clowns don't give them your business, time or money. They take over 1hr per car to do Safety Inspection! (Not a typo). I thought I was doing good as the 4th car in line. 4 hours later I got my car inspected. Va Website says 30 mins per car. I noticed they don't have a sign for Best Of Loudoun since 2018. I guess that was the last year they were good. On Oct. 16, 2023 I contacted Mario at Plaza Shell regarding replacing the right front air shock on my Mercedes CLS500. I indicated I would provide the parts and wanted an estimate on the labor associated with the repair. He indicated his system used to provide estimates was down, but he would call me back the following day with an estimate. The following day I never received a call, so I followed up on my original request. Although he didn't contact me with an estimate, I had previously had work done at this place, so was confident I would allow them to do this job. I dropped off my car for the repair on Oct. 18, 2023. A week later, my car was still sitting unrepaired. I placed several calls to Mario indicating I needed my car back ASAP. My car was supposedly repaired, so I picked it up on Oct. 27, 2023. I drove the car home (4 miles) prior to heading out of town for several days. When I returned home and drove the car for the first time a few miles, I audibly heard air gushing from beneath the hood. It was clear to me the air hose was no longer connected to the shock he replaced. As a result, my car sunk considerably. When I called him on November 6, 2023 to report the problem, he proclaimed he was too busy that week to look at it and asked that I call him on November 13, 2023 to schedule a time during the week to drop off the car. I patiently waited and did as he asked. On November 13, 2023, I called Mario and continued to make excuses about how busy he was and asked that I drop the car off the evening of November 15, 2023 so he could look at it the next morning. I waited for a call from him on November 16th & 17th, but never heard from him. I called the shop morning of November 19, 2023 and requested that he give me a return call. I never heard from him, so the evening of November 20, 2023, I personally visiting the shop looking for him. He was nowhere to be found, so I left my name and phone number and once again, requested a call. I never heard from him, so I physically went to the shop again on November 21, 2023 around 1:30pm looking for him. He was out to lunch. I went back about an hour later and confronted him on the shoddy workmanship on my car and his lack of professionalism in not bothering to return phone calls (I guess since my credit card payment had already cleared for the $500+ in labor charges, there was no urgency to follow up). As I continued to press him to get a firm date as to when he would fix the problem he caused, he made the statement "do you want me to poke one, two or three holes in your hoses so you can come back and spend more money?" Huh? What kind of real mechanic would make such a statement? Given the threat to do harm to my vehicle, I picked it up and will get the repairs done elsewhere. Marios nonchalant attitude about doing the job I paid him to do in a reasonable timeframe is unacceptable. I have been patronizing this business for over 15 years. Additionally, I have referred numerous people to this establishment over the years (four in the past 6 months). Needless to say, I will not be returning to this business and I will tell those I have previously referred to follow suit. Update, upon taking my vehicle to Mercedes Benz of Chantilly, it was discovered that the threads to the strut had been stripped by Mario (thereby destroying the strut). Perhaps that's why he was dragging his feet when I took my car back to have it repaired correctly. read more

Took my moms car for a safety inspection and failed because they stated the car needed new breaks. They gave me a quote and I left the car to to be worked on so that the car could pass safety inspection. They called me a few hours later and told me the car was ready for pick up. As soon as I got in the car, I noticed smoke ashes all over the driver and passenger seats and a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. Yes, the mechanics here are very inconsiderate and smoke in customers vehicles. It's been a few weeks and an interior detail job and air freshener will not get rid of the awful smell. read more

I will never go to this station again. I have lived in Leesburg for over 20 years and have frequented this station for fuel and state inspections quite regularly. I was insulted by a comment made by the attendant named Paula. She called a black man "a colored ", and when asked why she felt that was appropriate she preceded to tell me that's she's 55 and has been saying that forever and that I was among only a few that have ever complained about the use of that derogatory language. She said she wouldn't change her mind. This clearly means she makes it a habit of being insensitive and insulting to black patrons. Just because people have heard it before and you have said it many times without any challenges doesn't make it right! She said "you can't say nothing these days without offending someone". Well Paula it's 2020 and NOT 1920 and this kind of thinking is why there is so much social unrest. Read the room! I want to say that this place was great! I took my vehicle here for a State inspection. Although it failed for some minor things, Eddie was great! He explained why I failed and why these repairs were necessary for safety. As a female I am not knowledgeable much about vehicles but things were explained in a way that I understood. Richie is awesome. He didn't charge me an arm and a leg like a dealer tried to do for the work on my car. If you do your homework and get a quote for the work you need you will find out what places try to overcharge and their level of service comes through the interaction. Pump did not shut off causing gas to pour all over side of car. Was told "the pump sometimes has issues when it gets cold and doesn't shut off" and was left at that. If I could give this place zero stars... Our daughter was caught in a flash flood late at night. By the time the tow truck was able to get her car out, it was almost 2AM. We had them tow it to Plaza Shell. There is no drop box for keys/notes and it was obviously after hours, so we couldn't call. I showed up at 7:30AM only to be YELLED at by the lady in the shop for leaving a car with no note. I explained that it had been pouring rain and that leaving a note on the outside of the car wouldn't have been an option. She proceeded to yell at me that there's was no mechanic there to look at the car and that if I didn't have it off the property by 8AM, she would have it towed/impounded. I told her that I would call a tow truck and asked if I could have just a little bit of time... she again yelled that I had until 8AM. We got the tow truck and took it to another shop. Was all of this really because there was no note on the car? I have no idea. But just a little bit of kindness and understanding from this woman would have gone a long way in this situation. We have been there multiple times for inspections and small repairs. We will not be back. Best of Loudoun? Not even close. read more

The only reason I use this gas station is because it takes the GetUpside app discounts as well as Giant discounts. They don't let you use the restrooms or enter the store after 8 pm and the attendant is rude. They blame everything on the owner when you ask them why. Odd that they have banners hanging out front of how many "Best of Loudoun" awards they have won over the years. Pro: inspection and emission is done quickly. Con: they close at 4, I guess but no hours posted. They are not professional by any means, the line is pretty long most of the time (waited an hour on my last visit before today). Also the lot is too small and not configured appropriately to do the type of business they are trying to do. Tip: I Went over to Loudoun Auto Repair and they were able and willing to do a safety inspection without any wait and very quickly. Kind and professional service. They were very friendly when I came in to buy gas and I purchased gas without issue. When I walked into the garaged section where they do all of the mechanical work I felt the way I often do when I speak with a mechanic; leery. I was speaking with one mechanic and then he referred me to another mechanic; the mechanic who discussed pricing. It felt all wrong once he started talking about taking things apart and figuring out what the problem is. It wouldn't have felt as wrong had I not just told him the problem (mechanics are always telling me they have to re-discover the problem that I've clearly explained has already been discovered). Luckily, I have a car lift at home and can do the work myself, but obviously I didn't want to. There was just something unsavory about how the conversation progressed. Couldn't ask for a more efficient and friendly vehicle inspection and I had a few moments ago. I had try and another gas station in Leesburg at 4 o'clock after calling ahead and them telling me baby had inspections until eight only to arrive and then giving me the runaround about the inspector leaving and had to wait an hour for another inspector... No way! Headed over to Plaza shell pulled right up and my car was taken within 15 minutes and the ternal inspection process maybe took 10 minutes. Was greeted by a smiling friendly employee. Will go to pause the show for future inspections first no wonder they were highly rated. read more

I came to do a safety inspection due that I saw these guys had a loudoun award in the wall; so I said let's give it a try and came early and waited; at the beginning in saw two lanes and didn't know because there was no sign and I waited; once my turn came the guy told me you are in the wrong lane and look you can't come here and cut the line to all those other cars ! anyways I don't mind waiting and If I did wrong I am ok to go to the right lane but the way this person talked was not friendly at all; so nice award in the front but terrible customer service; i am very disappointed. My wife took our FJ Cruiser in for safety inspection. Inspector failed because it had fog lights installed on both the front bumper and roof rack. VA law states that you can have these lights installed but just not all illuminated at same time. FJ passed inspection for 10 years since we've owned it with same configuration. Shell's Safety Inspector was very rude and condescending to my wife. When my wife tried to explain, he berated her and he threatened to call a cop "with a gun" to explain. No manager around to speak with, just the cashier. Rather than argue with this idiot, she left and took the car to another inspection station and it passed - they confirmed the Shell inspector did not properly interpret the regulation. Talked to a friend who is a Virginia cop and he confirmed. While everyone makes mistakes, the Shell guy's disrespectful attitude toward a women is inexcusable. We will never do business with this place again, Too many other choices to put up with incompetence and disrespect. read more

I took my 2015 Toyota Tacoma in for inspection and emissions test yesterday. Corey Lytell was going to fail me for having non factory license plate lights unless I paid him $20.00 labor and almost $8.00 for the 2 OEM bulbs. I have had the same truck in for inspection 5 times and it never failed for this reason. Lets be clear, not headlights, taillights but led license plate bulbs that I installed to be a little bit brighter for law enforcement officers to help them identify my truck. I should have let them fail me and walked across the street to the auto parts store and purchased the bulbs and maybe a screw driver and replaced them myself. I regret that I didn't do that. It took less that 10 minutes max to change out these bulbs so, that's about $120.00 an hour for labor. What a Chicken Sh*t move by a Station and for having an owner that promotes these underhanded practice. So much for supporting a local small business. Never again, BEWARE !! read more

It was an expected long wait for my safety inspection because it was the end of the month. But when I went to rotate my tires a month later notice 2 lug nuts were missing. So, I called and explained the situation and according to the gentleman I spoke to, they never forget to put all the lug nuts on. He said either someone stole them off my car that I keep in the garage or they fell off. I responded by asking a rhetorical question," if they just fell off doesn't that mean they weren't put on tight enough in the first place. He responded by hanging up on me and telling the person who answers the phone to take a message because he's busy. Wtf Dbag! Thanks for the inspection. read more
