But each time after that it was just sad. The grands lived up in NE Texas so of course we were required to stop for the kids if they were in the truck. The last sandwich I had was a soggy mess on what looked like bread but tasted like cotton balls. Those nuggets reminded me a lot like Crunch n Munch but with a horrible aftertaste even their weak "coffee" couldn't wash away. It's been years since we've been back so I don't know if it's still true but it seemed to me those times that the greater portion of their branded merchandise and other "Texas" souvenirs were made in China. "Willy Wonka Walmart" is how I describe this energetic, bright, and well-organized superstore full…read moreof inexpensive junk you think you need, all because its masterful marketing linked it to a rodent. Plus everyone, including the workers, are happy to be there and there's no long lines. Lots of merch and food. I got a foam baseball, a flashlight key chain, a cooler bag, my $1.19 XL Diet Dr. Pepper, and Beaver Nuggets for the neighbors, while the wife nabbed Mini Waffle Cones and Butter Toffee Pecans, which I highly recommend. This being my third time at a Buc-ee's, I was smart enough to go hungry and got a brisket sandwich from the busy busy foodworkers. Once second largest at 60,000 square feet, this particular Buc-ee's, the relief point between Dallas and Austin, ranks 11th in size out of 54. A mix of Outlaw Country with the busy Donki stores of Japan, I affectionately call these a "Delta Dawn Quixote."

I was traveling out of town, when my check engine light came on…read more 2 hours from home, and 3 hours from my destination. 5am Saturday morning. Love's was 4 miles away. Lanae helped me first, checking under my hood. Advising the mechanic would be in at 6:30am. I waited for him to arrive. Rickey is his name. He immediately scanned my check engine light and diagnosed the problem for me. Rickey was my angel. He was able to help me out (*off the clock of course) Friday when I got back into town. Lanae took my information to allow me to leave my car parked all week until vacation was over. THIS WAS THE BEST LOVE's STATION I HAVE BEEN TO. Mark, the manager was friendly, I told him my story when he arrived. I don't think I could have asked for nicer people y'all. Restroom was clean. They offered me something to drink while I waited for my friend to come backtrack 2.5 hours to come get my friend and I. Pretty amazing people in my life. Pretty amazing LOVE'S!

Some of the gas pumps have water, mud and fuel around them and usually litter around the area. Some of the pumps will not print receipts and are not being repaired. They could sell lots of minnows this time of year. They get them on Wednesday and are sold out by Saturday and don't have the decency to maybe order more for the Wednesday delivery. But you can by some kind of weed that's displayed at the checkout area. Probably overpriced like everything else. We sure miss the original Old Union Store!
