Lanae helped me first, checking under my hood. Advising the mechanic would be in at 6:30am. I waited for him to arrive. Rickey is his name. He immediately scanned my check engine light and diagnosed the problem for me. Rickey was my angel. He was able to help me out (*off the clock of course) Friday when I got back into town. Lanae took my information to allow me to leave my car parked all week until vacation was over. THIS WAS THE BEST LOVE's STATION I HAVE BEEN TO. Mark, the manager was friendly, I told him my story when he arrived. I don't think I could have asked for nicer people y'all. Restroom was clean. They offered me something to drink while I waited for my friend to come backtrack 2.5 hours to come get my friend and I. Pretty amazing people in my life. Pretty amazing LOVE'S!

Those nuggets reminded me a lot like Crunch n Munch but with a horrible aftertaste even their weak "coffee" couldn't wash away. It's been years since we've been back so I don't know if it's still true but it seemed to me those times that the greater portion of their branded merchandise and other "Texas" souvenirs were made in China. The people behind the counter are usually nice ladies, and there are multiple areas to pay for things. Thus, no lines and even when things are busy, it never feels crowded. Aside from the attached Whataburger, they have their own line of hot (mainly fried) foods from potato wedges to fried chicken. "Crispidos" are their local claim to fame and basically giant fried taquitos. It's most definitely crispy and filling, and I can see why people enjoy them so much. This is also a trucker sanctuary, equipped with gas stations and parking spots for semi-trucks, as well as a lounge and shower area. The rest of the shop has all of the road trip essentials from little snacks, cold drinks, and plenty of "Texas" souvenirs. Lastly, it's a Tesla Supercharger destination. Hamburgers are also in the menu. There is a lot of pass-through traffic between Dallas and Houston, so the owner decided to install a lunch counter. In talking with the owner, he admitted to never having been to Fuel City in Dallas to try their tacos. Instead, he brought in a local cook to develop their own menu. The meats - carne asada, barbacoa, pollo, lengua, etc. are all fresh. They also make their own salsas - hot habenero, mild red and mild green - and keep them in a warmer. I ordered the carne asada tacos on corn tortillas (flour is also available). You can watch as the cook dips the tortillas and then fries them up on the grill. They then place a generous amount of meat, onions and cilantro on top. They are served with lime wedges. The steak was seasoned nicely, dripping juices and very tender. At $1.39 each, the tacos are a tasty steal. This place does not have table cloths, silverware or china. Be prepared to sit at a small counter with locals or grab one of the few bench-style tables.

There are lots of food and beverage options (see photos) from fried chicken, to pizza, to barbecue, and fried pies. The staff is mostly local young folks, which generally is a good thing, but a few would have rather been anywhere else. We tried the barbecue and it was just ok. Wouldn't get it again. I will say, the people working the BBQ place were the friendliest and most helpful in the place.

The gasoline prices at the Brookshires about half a mile down the road might be lower, but their pumps might shut off after a certain time at night. The convenience store also shares a building with the Whataburger in Malakoff, which I have also visited to eat in with friends or I went through the drive-thru window for takeout. There is also a doorway between the two places (the restaurant eating area & the convenience store), so you don't even need to go outside to go from one to the other (which is great in cases of colder or rainy weather!). I think the restrooms are on the Whataburger side, but I haven't actually seen them yet. I would definitely keep coming back here, since the pumps are well-kept, & so is the Whataburger eating area.
