Though this place is called a "cleaner", it is actually a laundromat too! The inside is warm and classy and there are plenty of machine sizes for you to get your loads done. For those that want someone to wash and fold (or not), they do have a drop off service and you can save about half if you ask them not to fold. Regarding the laundry machines, they appear to be well maintained and our clothes came out great. (No burning fabric due to hot dryers). The only criticism is that I am not a fan of the card system for using machines and I prefer using good old quarters This said, the washer/dryer prices were reasonable, so if in the area again, we will take another visit. read more

RIP OFF!! Using the dryers is a rip off! $1.90 for the Express Dry 15 minutes!!! And the items are NOT dry in that time...add another $1.90 and still not Dry!! After experiencing WavMax dryers for $1.25 for standard size dryer and $1.75 for the larger dry...for 40 minutes and everything is dry!! The only good thing was Sheldon's have larger capacity washer which I needed Today. The only reason I came back here. Try WaveMax! BEWARE - TRUE Experience Do laundry at your own risk. Had 4 blankets in a large dryer on LOW (per instructions) and 10 minutes into the drying cycle it burnt each of the blankets and the dryer sheets were ORANGE. The employee said the regulator needed cleaning and did so right then. I contacted the corporate office and they stated it was user issue that my blankets were ruined (Label states dry on Low, so dryer on LOW.) They were 90+ % scorched and had black burn marks on them. I offered to meet with them and show them the scorched blankets and inspect them and then burnt dryer sheets. They sent me an email stating it was an "user issue" and I would not be compensated and the machine was not broken. I had told them that the machine had certainly malfunctioned. They did not agree. I will not do laundry here again and tell anyone I speak with and know to do exactly the same. Such a shame. read more

The facility is spacious and provides plenty of areas to relax. The owner is friendly and accommodating, answering all my questions thoroughly. 120 hour Martinizing! What happened to this Grand Rapids iconic dry cleaners. I use to drop off cleaning before 9 AM and may times is was available for pick up at 6PM. Now, it's at least a a 3 day "turn around", 5 if you drop of Wednesday. There also use to be weekly specials, now it's extra charges, i.e. $2.00 more for wooden buttons, even though the they just look wooden but were made out of the standard nylon. The turnaround time for 26+ pieces was impressive! The pieces were ready sooner than promised. First, I had brought in 2 coats. They were cleaned beautifully. Next, I brought my daughter's clothes from her travels overseas. I was very happy with the results. I brought in a larger load of delicate dresses, skirts, pants, jackets, and shirts. Each piece was immaculate. One wool dress looked brand new after being dry cleaned (it was pilled). I was thrilled with the dry cleaning service. One velour piece was missing from jacket but it was my fault as it wasn't sewn in. Michaela from customer service found it and drove it to my home! I came because this place used to have a cafe. Now it has the saddest hospital coffee machine they're trying to sell as a "cafe". How do I know this, because I was a professional garment spotter at a very prestigious cleaning company. And I've never seen anything like that. I'm 68, and have not been in a laundry mat since about 25. My dryer broke so I looked up places close to me and 2 were listed very near me. The first, I literally walked in, looked at the equipment ( I think my college dorm had better machines), cleanliness, or should I say lack of, and the limited seating and I turned around and left. Thankfully I drove a little further, to Sheldon's just south of 28th on Breton. Wow, this place was/is awesome! From plenty of wheeled carts, very clean everywhere, all very new looking machines, the ability to use a Sheldon's card instead of quarters, to how quick the machine dried my clothes, I was impressed. In addition, the young lady at the desk took me over and explained the card machine, then walked me through the various size dryers and areas. Very helpful and friendly. ** CRAZY AND UNETHICAL ** First, yelp mapper did not list the correct store location but I have to assume their pricing is consistent with their other stores so we will use this location as a place holder. My complaint revolves around my feeling of "price gouging"... simple and factual. They charge for nebulous things on the promise that it's a "special or custom" garment without the commitment of replacement... so what the heck is the consumer getting for the up charge?? NOTHING! their go to market pricing philosophy is flawed to the point where the customer feels like they are feeling taken advantage. Example: shirts: they charge you more for "special" buttons on the premise that if one breaks they must order from the manufacturer but yet they don't commit to actually doing that...they say, well my boss has to approve that... if I say I won't ever want you to replace buttons if they break so give me the lower price...they say well my boss needs to approve that who isn't in... say what?? Pants: they charge A LOT to begin with. They say that if you have any type of spandex there is an up charge...uh, why and who cares? I have never had ANY dry cleaner charge for this type of thing. This is most definitely the nicest laundromat I've ever been in. It was clean and inviting. The staff are super helpful.... that Mario is a real gem and his customer service skills are on point. I came in because my dryer at home stopped working and after this experience I'm really in no hurry to get it fixed. The last wash has got to be started by 8:30pm and then you can dry right up til 9:45pm as they close at 10p. This is a review of the wash & fold service. It's a hot mess. Once I picked up my order only to realize when I got home that it was still dirty. I took it back to have it washed and they tried to charge me again even though I had already paid. This week I picked up an order on Monday and my whites were missing. I've made multiple phone calls and 4 days later I have yet to hear about the whereabouts of my missing clothes. At this point it seems clear that communicating with me isn't a priority. I've decided to cut my losses, purchase new clothing, and take my business elsewhere. read more

I do enjoy coming here. It's clean, plenty of room to sit and wait for your laundry. I never have trouble finding and open washer or dryer. But the cage has gone down hill. The ice tea is watery and my Ceaser salad was served with tomatoes (clearly states no tomato) and no croutons. I ask and it's bc she's out. Meh, I'll eat before I come next time. read more

I am not a fan and probably will never be back. I had a dress I wore for a few hours. If you looked at this dress you wouldn't be able to tell it was worn besides the spot on the chest. I spilled some kind of juice like apple. When I dropped it of the service was great. I don't remember her name but she looked Hispanic if I was to judge. But I'm not. So this chick was cool I felt I wanted to bring more business here. I mention about a spot but did not point out. It's an easy mark. When I go to pick up the dress they had ready the next day which is excellent but the spot was not removed. I pointed it out and the girl said pay the balance and we'll run it through free of charge. Which seems nice but now they need 2 days to work on. I give them that and come back again not remove. The service not like the first day I walk in all warm and fuzzy now it was like this all we can do have a good day. I guess my frustration out side from something they probably couldn't help is... I'm out of pocket for a service not rendered. I came to get that spot removed. Not all the employees are consistent with customer service. Well not w/me at least. And when I communicated my frustration they acted like who cared besides me. I don't feel I got my worth paying 20 for something they were unable to do. I mean please explain to the next person who walks in not knowing your deal that maybe the stain can't come out cause what the content is or what ever. Our washer broke down and we had a few days before delivery. I got a tip that this location was much more than a dry cleaner - and that turned out to be quite an understatement. This is a laundromat, cafe and general relaxation center with immaculate accommodations, including flat screen televisions, comfy couches and chairs and an indoor/outdoor fireplace to top it all off. The staff is very friendly and can help you figure out how to operate the equipment if needed. The laundromat space is stocked with 4 wheeled carts and nice large tables for folding your clean clothes. The place is also immaculately clean. You need to preload a card with $$ for use at the machines, $2.50 per regular load of laundry and $0.50 per 15 minutes of dry time in an enormous dryer. I spent $10 for a weeks worth of laundry for a family of 4 - pretty cheap for all you get. Whether you need to do laundry in a pinch or have a regular need, I would highly recommend this place. It's light years ahead of the mid-century facilities of their competitors. Also, bring your iPad - the wifi is free and the signal is strong. read more

Absolutely Terrible customer service and business ethics. recently took my 100 dollar jersey to them to get some dirt out. went to pick it up, dirt was not out. they told me they would send it back in to deep clean it. when i picked it up the second time the number was completely destroyed. I asked to speak with the owner when the customer service rep told me there was nothing they could do. The owner told me they washed it properly even though i brought them 2 jerseys practically identical just a different brand. One was fine the other was destroyed. All he could give me was their word that it was washed correctly and they will not issue me a refund for my jersey. Then he proceeded to tell me (this is the owner remember) that after i do my research on the washing procedure and realize that he was right that I OWE HIM AN APOLOGY. Sheldon Cleaners is Amazing!!! I had my bridesmaid dress alterations done at Su Alterations in the mall and I was extremely unhappy with their work. When I finally picked up the dress from Su, there was an enormous stain on it and it was 2 days before the wedding. Sheldon got the stain completely out, rushed to finish it for me, and even redid most of the terrible alterations that were previously done for an extremely low price! To make it worse, the refuse to replace a brand new shirt that they ruined and refuse to pay for the damages. I have never heard of a service that says this! I needed my winter jacket, a Daytime Halter Dress and my Blouse cleaned because this weekend my husband and I are going on a trip to Chicago! I am going to be auditioning at the Launch Showcase to try to get Talent Representation so I can pursue a career in acting! So, it needed to be very clean and I didn't have much time! They said they probably couldn't get it done until Monday, but it was ready by the next day! I am so impressed and they did a fabulous job! I can appreciate the laundry mat part and cafe they were good. I recently came in with sheer pleated curtains to be cleaned. First, the communication suck! Second, I waited over 30 minutes before they finally helped me. Two men were before me they could not locate their garments. Third, my sheer curtains were literally destroyed, I paid $50 to have cleaned and it was ruined. They pressed it; folded it and put on hangers but did not inform me that the sheer was damaged! I am disappointed in this place never will I bring anything valuable to this cleaners again. They are not organized I was extremely unhappy with the end result. I used to work at Sheldon cleaners but quit when the manager Julie told me I couldn't take time off to go camping. She told me my part time job needed to be the center of my life. Sheldon cleaners is not a good job, I was never fully trained and never got a tour of the plant like I was supposed to. She was very unprofessional and I never met her once the few months I worked there. I had my clothes washed there while I worked there and two of the three shirts came back ripped. Worse customer service at corporate offices. They lost an item of mine. It took over 3 weeks to get it handled. I had to call them back 3 days in a row after I talked to Neil the week before. Then he finally called me back. Then it took another week for him to call me back after I called him. They ruin this same item a year ago. I sent it back to be fixed and they lost it. Terrible customer service. Staff is not helpful, and they never seem happy to be there. Have tried asking questions before or get help and usually get no response or stared at like they have no idea what I'm talking about. Bring cash if you don't want too much money on your laundry card. Staff is super rude when having to deal with this, and god forbid you want a refund because they'll reel you to have another customer buy it from you.... they don't seem to care about the customers or how they are perceived by other people. Went in tonight, Friday to do the laundry. Your website says you are open until 10:00pm. Typically, this would mean last load is 8:30pm. The sign on the door said last load 7:30. I went back in to fold my laundry at 7:44. I needed to use the bathroom, but there was a closed sign. I asked the attendant when the restroom would be open again, and she said "never, we close at 8 and we make sure everyone is out of the building at 8. Everyone has to be out, and we make sure they are". She was very rude in my opinion. I spent $30.00 to do my laundry, whereas I usually only have to spend 18-$20.00. Sheldon's is nice, but I don't expect to be treated this way by the employees. My advice to Sheldon's given they charge a premium price for their services? Train you employees in customer service. I have used this laundromat approximately 20 times in the last 3 years, and I have never met a person that worked there that had any customer service skills. Rude, short, unpleasant. They have nice facilities if you're washing your own clothes. But, please someone explain to me how the one item that me and my husband sent to be dry-cleaned by them go from WHITE to CREAM??????? All my jacket had on it when we handed it over to Sheldon Cleaners was a makeup smug on the collar. We just picked up my suit jacket today and it no longer matches my white skirt. My suite jacket use to be white!!! How does this happen? I am so mad right now because white is so hard to find and a white professional suit at that . And too prove my suite was white look at these two photos below. 1) the picture on the left shows my jacket (now cream in color) next to my white skirt. 2) the picture on the right is a picture of my now cream suit with White Buttons!!!! My whole jacket use to be all white! The only thing that remains white is the buttons. I need a refund for dry-cleaning job and money to replace my white suite.
