Went to this local place and decided to try something different her on the island. Hawaiian food. Teriyaki breaded chicken. Served with mash potatoes and macaroni salad. Miso soup. And etc. The waitress was nice. Her food description was on point. Now Place was 3 star clean. Bathrooms could use a lot of help. But being in area I guess it's natural. Chicken was gooood! Mac needs more tlc maybe sugar or something little plain. Potatoes have a butter taste. Miso soup fresh green onions Stir fry noodles was good had good flavor with Polynesian sausage and etc. But I loved the refills on the package hot coco!!! That's a star in its self. Food arrived a bit late that's only down fall. We had to wait almost 7 min for the other plates to come. Well 5 in between after the first. So food was already cold except soup and noodles as they were the last ones. But thank u anyways!

Was looking for a place to go for breakfast prior to heading to the airport,,,so found this place. First things first, after a long drive from Lahaina we got seated, I asked to get the key for the bathroom and there was a HUGE cockroach dying in the stall,,,upside down but legs moving,.,, ok I'll forgive the restaurant for that in the hopes the service/food will make up for it,,, they charged $5.00!!! For a homemade biscuit,,, practically slammed the plate of hash browns on the table, had to ask for a refill of coffee at the very end, when they delivered the food it came with the order slip that the cooks give the wait staff to know the order is completed. I'd say my 2 stars is because the last host made it clear they are short handed and they need a new cook,, so those two stars are for her.

I had the fried rice and sweet-and-sour spareribs plate. Not pictured was the dry min and the chop steak. Dang was the food good.

DELICIOUS! Don't miss out on Sheik's if you are in Maui. A couple things to note before going, this is definitely a locals type of spot, don't expect a trendy photo op, this is a cute place, but not some generic, gentrified spot. Locals and retro diner are the vibe. Food is amazing. Be sure to ask for their specials and order whatever their specials happen to be that day. We had Ox Tail Soup, their Special Fried Rice, a Ham and Egg Sandwich and Homemade Biscuit- all of which were very tasty. We enjoyed every dish we ordered. You HAVE to order the biscuit, it's buttery, crispy, and delicious, not your usual type of biscuit. The service here is great, the waitresses were super nice, ans helped us as quickly as possible. Waitstaff is limited, so please be kind and patient, they're doing their best, just like we all are :)

It was a very normal restaurant where the locals hung out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The foods were decent and delicious. The prices were practical for the working class. But be aware, they will check your vaccinations before entry. They are highly practiced the pandemic protocols at this restaurant. The service was nice and the servers were very friendly. Highly recommended to everyone.

Nope. Searched for breakfast spots in Kahului and Google lead us here. Sheik's was one of only a few that were not fast food. My first impression was this place is a dive and in this case first my impression was correct. I have to say they were very diligent in Covid cleaning the tables between diners but overall the restaurant was in need of a good cleaning. It was "dive chic." There were only about five tables seated, yet it took 15 minutes to take our order and another 25 for our food to arrive. Food was a mix. One person in our party received breakfast with burnt bacon and another had the salad. It was mostly iceberg lettuce, tomato and American cheese. The lettuce was cold and fresh but very basic. Overall, the thing that stuck out the most is that this place and the workers are on island time. We weren't expecting "fast food" service but also waited quite a while in front to pay our check as the server never returned. I gave a two because for me one would be a case of food poisoning but "two" is I would never go back.

But we were there to eat and not necessarily have Pau Hana time, I will say though some of those draft on tap sound excellent! Beer-battered in house and come with chipotle mayo dipping sauce, fried & light, not overly greasy, good with them using sweet Maui onions! Brother wasn't too hungry, so he ended up getting a Wedge Salad (LOL) but with extra bacon. Looked good too! Mom & wifey shared the Turkey Club - that was a BIG @$$ sandwich! Roast turkey breast with Applewood smoked bacon, mayo, lettuce and tomato between 3 slices of thick rye bread! Buggah was stacked! They both liked it, lean turkey with the fatty bacon, and the texture contrast of the fresh veggies made it tasty! My Beef & Pork Burger was a test to my cholesterol levels LOL! Near 1/2 pound burger made with ground chuck, cooked medium rare and topped with a pile of house roasted Kalua pork, lettuce, tomato, onion, crispy fried onions and BBQ sauce...was indeed a tower of a burger! Was pretty damn ono too! Burger got good char from the grill, and the kalua pork was flavorful and not dry at all. This burger didn't need a slice of cheese at all! Delicious! Maybe on our next time to Ale House we'll actually get some beers! Their daily Happy Hour specials sure are tempting!

We've been coming here for years and I've always enjoyed my experiences here, but last night I had a dish that compelled me to write a review. The oxtail soup which is listed as a favorite is a dish I've been eyeing for a while, but it's usually been too warm for me to crave it. But last night was the night. I'm getting over a cold and it's been raining off and on for weeks. The bowl arrived at the table with a plate underneath - smart move because it takes some work to eat oxtail soup. Armed with my fork and spoon, I went at it. The first taste floored me. It was perfectly seasoned and I could taste the fresh ginger, the broth was a beautiful brown color, there was plenty of napa cabbage and it came with a dish of a scoop of glossy steamed rice and steamed carrots, zucchini and broccoli. Our waitress offered to bring over condiments so I went for the soy sauce - sprinkled on the rice and veggies, I noticed that the veggies might have had a little sesame oil flavor on them so that made me happy. A spoonful of rice dunked into the broth with some of the tender fall of the bone oxtail meat, and a little crunch of the napa cabbage and I was in absolute heaven. I tasted my husband's pork adobo and that was equally as delicious as always. But that soup - that's what really did it for me last night and stays with me today. I walked out of Tante's with a swollen and happy belly and a fresh, tiny piece of ginger stuck between my teeth...a treat for later.

Food: We ordered the honey walnut shrimp, miso butterfish, garlic furikake fries, hamachi sashimi, garlic noodles, and crispy chicken. My favorite was the hamachi sashimi. What I enjoyed about this dish was the diced maui onion that offset the citrus from the ponzu. The flavors are light, and refreshing. The most disappointing was the crispy chicken. I thought it was too salty, but that's my preference and salt tolerance. The miso butterfish was also a great dish. The fish was buttery and flavored well. Not too saucy but the perfect amount of sauce. Service: Service is friendly, like most of the restaurants on Maui. The food was served in a timely manner. The ambiance is casual and felt like a bar restaurant. Overall, I'm not sure if I would return. After ordering 6-7 dishes, I wanted to be blown away by at least 4-5 of them, but that wasn't the case.
