Last year, i went to two different local dentist for a bad molar. Both offices felt like i was buying a new car, trying to pressure me to get unneeded treatments. I was totally turned off by both offices. A friend recommended dr Shayan Omid, and i switched my coverage to his office. The front office was very east to deal with, the personal were very pleasant. The night before my appointment, the bad molar broke in half. Was a little painful. My visit was on time, and dr shayan came in and we talked after he looked at the bad molar. He said he would remove the molar,and give me a bone graft. I did not want a bone graft, but we talked about it, and its made a lot sense, and his price was very good. He pulled the tooth, did the bone graft, and i did not feel any pain at all. I went back 5 days later to get the stitches out, and told the doctor that i still had pain at the site. He said "because it had to use a cro bar to get that tooth out, and your jaw is still healing. He gave me a few more pain meds, and he was right, after three more days, the pain was gone. Horrible Experience. Office failed to collect accurate insurance information, which prolonged the dental work. I needed a permanent crown to replace the temp that had lasted 4 years. Took (3) visits because they would stay on. The 3rd and final visit was the most painful, worst dental experience I have ever had in my life. I walked out in tears and swore to never go back. I would have been better off keeping the temporary. Dr Shayan seems to be in a hurry and hides behind laughing and cracking jokes. I don't recommend this office at all. read more

Dr Omid as a dentist I had a horrible service experience. rude attitude,unprofessional, no oral examination no oral xray with diagnosis of new porcelaine denture by just looking at my mouth from a distant malpractice, negligent, irresponsible no compassion, caused me harm and infection. scamMed me with my money because of misinformation about Medicare coverage and no clear explanation if how I will benefit from porcelaine denture wherein most Dentist are not offering it anymore due to more patients complaint of it as and heavy making noise when chewing and bad for the jawbone, his only explaination he told me it's better and durable. I dropped his service and requested to refund my money but don't want to refund it.I can't believed he got excellent reviews this Dentist was the worst I have ever met in my life. The worst that made me so stressed when he was putting immediate denture in my mouth which was like a cat teeth or vampire teeth with 2 sharp small fangs despite of my complaint of pain he just said it's ok it's ok did not stop to check if what caused my pain . He clearly aware my main reason for check up was because of my upper palate evaluation recommended by my ENT specialist Physician due to mild irritation on my upper palate and gum caused by my 8 year old acrylic denture I left his office with headache so much disappointment and sore mouth . Asked for a cleaning, because I was overdue by a week or 2 as my other dentist no longer accepted my insurance ,instead of getting a cleaning ,I was given amoxicillin for a supposed infection in an upper tooth which the "infection" in the upper tooth never happened and instead a few weeks later got a terrible infection in my lower molars from the debris that should have been cleaned out!! Terrible pain the amoxicillin did nothing because I needed a cleaning. Very disappointed and painful experience,changed dentists when I got back from vacation,who did x-rays ,cleaning and laser in first visit!! Overview I am fortunate that my employer allows me to have my choice of any dentist in my area. With that being said, Dr. Shayan has been the #1 choice for my family for the last 5 years. Dr. Shayan I've had a bridge, crown, root canal, and filling completed by Dr. Shayan and I couldn't be happier with the work that he did. He is not afraid to learn the latest approaches to dentistry and is usually first to update his equipment when a newer option becomes available. I swear he must have some form of ADHD that is channeled by his craft. He is consistently on the move helping multiple patients at the same time and he wouldn't have it any other way. His bedside manner is direct and friendly. Best part is he will answer the phone after hours if you have a dental emergency (2/2 when I called the office after hours). Staff Dr. Shayan has a friendly and attentive staff. Angelica and Mona take care of the front office and are very helpful and professional not to mention sweethearts. There is 1 full time hygienist (Norma) and 1 part time hygienist on staff and both have a gentle touch. Office On the corner of Ball and Walker with plenty of free parking! The office has roughly seven production chairs equipped with 100% digital xray machines (painless) and TVs to keep your mind occupied during the anxious times (please get ESPN j/k!!). The hygienists have their own stations that are nice and quiet and separate from the rest of the office. There is an additional 3 teeth whitening stations bringing the total chairs in the office to over 10. The only issue I can see others having with Dr. Shayan's office is that the normal hours of operation are Monday-Thursday with no weekend hours to my knowledge. Thankfully I have a very flexible work schedule so this isn't an issue in my case. Conclusion Dr. Shayan and his staff do a great job of making a stereotypically unpleasant experience enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, the dentist is still the dentist but Dr. Shayan is genuinely an awesome guy! My best dental experience ever! I was having excruciating pain on my molar. I called Dr. Shayan at 2 am. He called me back immediately and asked me to see him at 7 am, 2 hours before they normally open. He accepted my insurance and did a root canal and crown for me on that same appointment. My daughter and I have gone to this provider for several years. Not once has he taken the time to properly examine our x-rays or teeth by using a tool to inspect it. We recently changed providers because of this. My daughter went to visit a new dentist today and was told she has 6 cavities and possibly needs a root canal. The doctor was very surprised that she has gone to the dentist regularly without this being noticed. Dr. Shayan should not be listed as a provider or practicing if he doesn't even take time with his patients. What bothers me is if he would've taken time to inspect her teeth properly, the work could've been previously completed or even prevented. We now have to shell out money to have all of the work done at once. There is no way that all of the cavities appeared in 6 months, as we go regularly twice a year. I can only imagine how many other patients he's done this to that possibly need more work which probably continues to get unnoticed. Horrible service!!!!!! read more

Two last minute cancellations in two weeks. He's too unreliable, therefore I have to start my search for a new dentist over.

This review is a few years late. I went into see Dr. Shayan for a dental check up a few years ago. He let me know that a crown needed to be replaced, and I also complained about a little bit of food getting stuck. It was in late December and his office was swamped. I agreed to proceed with the crown replacement. My tooth was filed down and fit for the crown. When it arrived, he was unsatisfied with the fit. He created another mold and ordered a 2nd crown. Since the temporary crown kept popping off, he attached the "bad" crown for the interim. When the 2nd crown arrived, one of his nurses tried to take off the interim crown by pulling at it with what looked like dental plyers. She kept trying and it wouldn't come off. At that point Dr. Shayan came over to look at it (he was swamped with patients). He popped it off and it was obvious that the nurse didn't know what she was doing. In the meantime, her pulling efforts had further traumatised my tooth and it became very sensitive. After Dr. Shayan attached the 2nd crown, I could tell that he again wasn't quite happy with the fit. However, I had already gone through so much, that he didn't suggest trying another mold. My tooth was extremely sensitive and my gums were highly irritated and inflamed. I came back and he said that I may need a root canal if it didn't improve, but to give it some time. (Note that to do a root canal, we would need to pop off the crown again.) My tooth was sensitive for months and I had to use the toothpaste for sensitive teeth, which finally helped. My original crown was much better than what I have now. The problem is that the new crown fits very poorly. There is a significant amount of food that gets caught around the crown. I need to floss it immediately after eating; the food particals keep coming out for about three flossings around the crown. I was afraid to go back to his office to get it fixed to avoid further damage to my tooth and to risk the need for a root canal. I dont want my tooth to be filed down again, as there is almost no tooth left as it is. He was way too busy with too many patients and wasn't able to take the time to properly create a good crown for my tooth. I felt like I was in a free clinic with the little time that he had and volume of patients, even though I was insured and also paid a substantial amount for the crown. BEWARE of this doctor. I'm afraid to go to the dentist now. read more

I have been going to Dr. Shayan for 11+ years. My husband and son use him as well. I followed Dr. Shayan from his Culver City practice, to Cypress. Mind you-- it takes an hour to drive to his office. He is that good. Believe me-- over my 50 years, I have seen many, many dentists. Primarily, because I have weak enamel due to genetics. My father had dentures by the age of 24. Thanks to Dr. Shayan I have ALL my teeth. He is the BEST!! Never do I suffer from pain. Upon request I am always given more novocaine immediately. Not so true in other dental offices. BTW, my previous dentist wanted to do a 4 t bridge, and I asked Dr. Shayan, which he saved the tooth, and I didn't need a bridge. YEAH! Dr. Shayan offered to call my old dentist about it- but I said it wasn't necessary. Also- Dr. Shayan constantly checks to see if I am happy with my results. And yes he has sent back a crown to the lab because the shape wasn't quite right. Usually I send the old tooth and then the lab matches the color, so it comes out perfect. In reference to Dr. Shayan running late...usually it's because of an emergency. In fact he came into his office on a Saturday for me because it was an emergency. How many dentists do that??? Check out his equipment.... the X-rays are now painless. Having a small mouth, this was always uncomfortable for me. it's so easy, thanks to his updated office. Also, I know Dr. Shayan constantly attends seminars to keep up with improvements. I have no idea what Daniel is talking about. Usually Dr. Shayan tells me to come early on my next visit so that I can have my teeth cleaned before my appt. And talk about the best and painless teeth cleaning. Norma has tiny hands which are amazing. I NEVER feel any pain. And it's quick without any hassle. THANKS NORMA!! Also-- Dr. Shayan has called me multiple times to find out how I am doing after the dental work, and one of the reasons why I still drive an hour to see him. BTW--Dr. and Mrs. Shayan even attended our wedding a few years. He is just that kind person, you are thankful that he is your dentist. Dr. Shayan has been my dentist for the last two years. The wait time to see him is approx. 10 minutes. Few months ago, he did an implant for me. First, he extracted my bad tooth very gently and then he did the implant. I hardly had any discomfort. Since I have had the implant, he has called my twice to ask me regarding the implant. I am very disappointed with the treatment I received. I went for a cleaning, and the hygienist spent a total of 14 minutes cleaning my teeth. I could still feel rough spots on my lower teeth. When I asked why my cleaning was poorly done, she said it was because she had no time for me. They did not do a thorough job, and I will not be returning to this dental office. read more

Dr Shayan was my dentist for about five years. In 2007 I had a root canal and a crown done on one of my molars. In 2017 my family changed to another dental group. In 2018 my molar fell off. My new dentist wanted to do a new crown. I knew that wasn't the correct recommendation. So I call Dr Shayan. He replaced the tooth at no cost to me or my insurance. With complete honesty I can say that Dr. Shayan is one of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I've been a patron to his practice for nearly a decade and I don't think I'll ever switch - his candor and bed side manors are genuinely appreciated. I can't begin to say how disappointed I am in Dr. Shayan and the work he performed on my 87 year old mother. Mom was having a bite issue, I do have to say that she selected him, on her exam with him he was suggesting that my mother have several caps on her molars to correct the problem. I decided to attend the consultation at that point with Dr. Shayan and my mother. Doctor THOUGHT it would solve her issue. Doctor told us that the cost would be about $7600 hundred dollars.He took molds of her teeth and ordered the caps. We then had the caps placed and at that time he told her it would take some time for her to get used to them......never happened....we went back for adjustments that didn't solve the problem. Doctor came in to speak with us and suggested that we needed to cap the 4 remaining molars. Of course several thousand dollars more. We decided to think about it. I called my Dentist to give my mother a 2nd opinion. Upon one look at her bite it was obvious that nothing matched up. My dentist is old school and we gave him permission to take over. He spent 20 minutes making adjustments and immediately she felt the difference. She could chew again. We have several more adjustment to go. Dr. Shayan needs to pay attention to his business of solving immediate issues and not selling more teeth. I also notice that he has a great deal of Seniors sitting in his waiting room.
