I've been a patient of Dr. Urban's for a long long time. Why? Because he and his staff are just the best. He and his staff are great communicators and comforters. When you arrive at his conveniently located office you are greeted by his office staff and a very nice and calming waiting room. After a lifetime of ice tea and sodas my teeth have been stained and darkened. I've wanted to whiten up teeth for a long time. Doc Urban gave me a solution. I started on the at-home Venus Whitening Pro System. My first appointment was to create the teeth trays for the whitening system. Yes, it's not the most pleasant task, but most of the dentist's tasks in the chair are not pleasant to me. The metal trays that contain the hardening material is a chalky goo that needs to sit on your teeth for only about 30 seconds, but it does seem like 45 minutes. A couple of days later my teeth trays were ready. At that appointment the doc's hygienist showed me the how to use the trays and the whitening liquid. She measured my current color of my teeth and discussed with me the goal of how much my teeth would whiten. That night I used the trays. It was easy to use the trays and the liquid. I woke up the next morning with a wow. My teeth were noticeably whiter. Years of ice tea and soda stains were quickly being removed. Thanks Doc! I am very skeptical around dentists since most of them want to up-sell you. I found SouthCoast Dental and have been happy for the last two years. Dr. Compean and his staff are the best in the business. I am always treated with respect and feel very comfortable. Each time I go for a cleaning the hygienist is extremely thorough and detail oriented. I wanted a cosmetic change. I wanted to have two crowns changed. Dr. Compean and the staff made the process easy and hassle free. They can get temporary crowns in a few days and permanent crowns in a couple weeks. They do an outstanding job mapping the teeth and color matching the crowns. The staff in the office took care of all the insurance details and provide accurate pricing for crowns. My family and I will continue to see Dr. Compean and his staff. read more

I hate going to the dentist. I hate it. HATE. IT. I was actually okay with the idea of wearing dentures before 35, because DENTISTS SUCK. aaaaaaaaand then I was (dragged forcibly in order to be) introduced to Dr. Urban and his lovely staff. Cons: He's still a dentist. He will still put his hands inside of your mouth with his weird torture devices and do things to your teeth for money. Pros: He has a basic understanding that going to the dentist = Spanish Inquisition. So he provides blankies if you're cold, ipods if you don't have your own, HE PUTS ENOUGH NOVACAINE IN YOUR MOUTH SO YOU DON'T WANT TO GO HOME SHAKING AND CRYING Basically, he's the most un-dentist dentist I have ever seen. If he ever closes his practice for any reason I will cry a million tears and kill myself. Well, okay, but I really will cry a million tears. And I'll probably kill my teeth, because once you've gone Urban, YOU CANNOT GO BACK. read more

Nice man, good dentist, honest, explains everything, not too serious. His staff is friendly, the office is well equipped, as is the waiting room. No hidden fees or charges, and again everything is explained. Parking lot is usually pretty full, but you can find a spot if you look. What more could you ask for? read more

I love dr urban and his entire staff, i have beeb coming here since 1996, my mother has been coming to him since she was 17, same with my father. I have had cavities all my life and never once been in pain. Today i had an appointment at 10am, had to cavities filled and was back home by 11. (I live 30 min away). This is my second visit to Dr. Douglas's office and I couldn't be more pleased with the decision I made to see them for the care of my smile. A friend referred me after an ATV accident where my teeth needed repair. Dr. Douglas saw me on short notice and took excellent and gentle care of me. A long time ago, in a land far away (Woodland Hills,CA) I needed a dentist. Someone recommended Dr. Urban and though it seemed like quite a drive, I decided to make the trek. Am I glad I did. He's great. The whole place is very patient friendly with a sunny office, lots of smiles. Since that first visit, I moved to Laguna Niguel and Cerritos is a little closer than before. I just had to go back because of a cracked filling (the ghost of ancient dentists from my past and not an Urban work). Now, there are bottles of water and the waiting room is devoted to creature comforts. Dr. Urban stays current and the xray machine is worthy of a sci fi movie. And there are painted butterflies on the ceiling! Cool. Most important, Dr. Urban is a great dentist and does excellent work. Recommended. read more

Can I give 10 stars? Dr. Urban and his staff are beyond amazing. I usually see Lilly for my hygiene appointments and she is a blast! We literally laugh the entire time. She has the best chair side manner and is truly an all star! If you have a fear of going to the dentist, come here because you'll forget all about it with Lilly and Dr. Urban being at your side. I had the worse experience ever. i went into his office because i had a gap in between my teeth and i wanted to upgrade two crowns. My intentions were to get braces and update my crowns to a more natural look. He convinced me into getting veneers to cover the gap and updated my two crowns. He shaved my natural teeth and within less than 3 months, both my crowns popped out and my veneers popped out twice. He replace the crowns and one is light blue and you can see the metal. I'm sharing my story to stop someone from making the same mistake i made. This Dr is a sweet talker, do not let him convince you into veneers. I hope this message touches his heart and he starts using best practice and advising customers that natural teeth is best practice. read more
