A few months back my friend Mike referred me to see Dr. Girgis for a second opinion on some dental work I had coming up. His office got me an appointment within a week or so and when I got there everyone was so kind; His staff is top notch. I received X-rays, traditional and the swirl around your head dealiebobber. I also received a consultation with Dr. Girgis and he took a look at my dental situation and agreed with my dentist on the proposed course of action. Even with all of that work he and his staff did for me he refused to let me pay and told me they were happy to help. What kind of provider does that anymore? I've had nothing but a great experience coming here. The entire team is friendly, professional, and makes you feel comfortable throughout the entire visit. The ladies at the front desk are also super helpful as well. For insurance, they accept most PPO however they do not accept HMO or Medi-Cal so that's something to keep in mind when planning a visit. The place is well kept and clean. They have their own designated parking lot behind the building which is nice not having to worry about finding street parking. I had more underlying issues that the doctor told me and she was very informative and explained everything to a T. Unfortunately, all I got was an x-ray and an exam so I can't base off there actual dental work, but I will be coming back to them. I was an established patient for over 3 years with Cedars Smile. I had read the reviews here and saw how well liked Dr. Girgis was. I have to say the first year, the front and back office team were amazing- very understanding and compassionate. Dr. Girgis would sit next to me and understood how anxious I was and he would take the time to explain the procedure and was very kind. I had my whole family coming here. Slowly things started changing- I would book a problem appointment- like a filing and I would show up and they would do a cleaning instead. This happened to all of us- we wouldn't mind the cleaning but clearly if we're having pain and discomfort why not address the issue? Then I started to trust them with the crown placements they suggested- wow, horrible mistake. I have 4 crowns from them, which now have caused extreme sensitivity and a huge gap between the crowns. I'm not sure when my care was transferred to Dr. Mai, she seemed nice, but I definitely did not like her dental assistant she was very rude and rough on my teeth when I clearly had said to her how much pain I was in. The last time I ever went back was the last time I would ever step foot in that office. I had severe pain on my right side and I was telling Dr. Mai this is the tooth where the crown was put in- she was fighting me and saying it wasn't- I refused the cleaning that time and asked them to please just help me with the pain and fill a large cavity on my K9 that I had asked for them to fix months ago- because of how sensitive my teeth were (2 crowns on the right and left side of my mouth) plus my jaw had severe pain because the bite felt uneven- I was in severe pain with the air/ water while Dr. Mai was trying to fill it- she started drilling and I said it was very painful to just numb me more- but the pain was horrible- she drilled about a nice chunk out and said I can't do this filing you need to go see a specialist. I was like if you would've done this filing when I asked months ago I wouldn't be in this pain! I was so upset, I left crying and in severe pain. Luckily I know an amazing endodontist who looked into my pain and to my surprise the crown Dr. Mai had put in was already needing a root canal!!! That was what was causing the pain- so that was fixed. However the pain, sensitivity where the other crowns feel terrible. I had given up to get any dental work until today- I kept thinking ok maybe it's my teeth, my luck- but now I know it has to do with the knowledge and expertise. I went to see a dentist in Huntington Beach explained what happened- and why I was so scared and in so much pain. I stated that my teeth were so sensitive to the water and air- the dentist and his dental assistant were careful and numbed me correctly in a way I felt NO pain or sensitivity!!!! The worst thing is to feel gaslighted as a patient like you're the problem- when maybe it's the lack of empathy and knowledge that interferes with their primary job to be good practitioners, to be there for us. I'm writing this today because I'm glad I found a new dentist where I can trust to take care of my family and fix all the crappy work Cedars did on myself and my husband. read more
