I've spent over $5000 of dental service. New dentures, crowns, fillings, etc. Dr. Ta is a good dentist but not so good as a lab technician. It was much later that we discovered that he owns the lab (next door) that does all the crowns, dentures, etc...and he is the technician. He got his degree from Moldova, which is also very concerning because I do not know if the country of Moldova dentistry has the same standards as that of the USA. He does not have a hygienist. He is the hygienist and does the teeth cleaning himself. I had 2 filling done on 2 different molars at the same time. One of the fillings matched the color of my teeth, the other filling is 3 or 4 shades yellower than the color of my teeth. I noticed it right away but since it was in the back of my mouth, I didn't say anything. What the heck? Did he run out of filling material and used up what was left from a previous patient? Dr. Ta is the jack of all trades but the master of none. I will not be returning to this dentist, and we have told our friends and family of our disappointments. Very disappointing. read more

I called Unistar office this morning hoping to get a an appointment right away because my tooth was aching and today is my only day off, plus I did not want to wait and deal with this pain long, most offices would tell me they can't fit me in until this day and that day, one of them e even asked me to take a day off from work to accommodate them... they're busy I understand. So I called and the receptionist ( I forgot your name ) told me to text over my insurance card so she can get me started, moments later I got a text back ( after a missed call) stating that my insurance is good; and the doctor had made an accommodation to skip lunch to fit me in ( really??), they took care of the problem today and send me home with at home teeth care education ( lol I guess I do need it) the dentist, Dr. Hien was funny, he's very personable. I appreciate the effort of going of out his way to help a patient in pain. I made my follow up appointment the same day because they can't address the issues all in one day. After my two visits at Unistar, I believe it's the best dental clinic that I've been to. Dr Hien Ta and his staff are nice and remarkable at what they are doing. Tu was very good at making schedules. I was able to have an appointment on the same day even though it was not an emergency. Her explanation of my insurance and treatment cost was thorough and clear. David was efficient in taking x-ray, assisting the dentist and helping me feel comfortable. They are fluent in Vietnamese, Spanish and English. No long wait time. They took care of me only during both of my visits. No rushing between rooms like my previous dentist. Dr Hien Ta was gentle, very sensitive to my reaction during the procedure; he frequently checked to see if I was ok. My dental problems that cause bad appearance and bad breath, neglected by my previous dentist for years, were treated with in-depth explanation of the causes and how to stop them, and which dental cleaning tools I should use/ not use.
