I am so thankful for Yelp as I was in need of a tooth extraction and do not have dental insurance and on Yelp I found the best DDS. I reach out to Dr. Huynh Tan office and the nicest lady "Mai" answered. I explained to her what was happening and she said no problem and she would be happy to help. If you know me well enough, you'll know how much I hate the dentist. I cry on the way there, tear up at the chair and ask them to always be gentle. I didn't have a pleasant experience last year, so after consulting a few friends, I was directed here. Don't let the location fool you. It's so clean once you walk in. Everyone in here is super pleasant and very helpful. The dental hygienists are so gentle, too! Dr. Huynh was really nice and expressed interest about who I was. I got my full x-ray, cleaning, and fillings here. He cleaned my teeth carefully and by himself and I was so impressed because I didn't bleed much. Other dentists have cut me before, but Dr. Huynh was SUPER gentle. When I was getting my fillings, he told me it may pinch a nerve. He painlessly gave me Novocaine. Very hospitable and very nice. I used to be scared of the dentist. Used to be. My previous experiences with dentists were always scary and left a mark on me for the longest time. I had one dentist that yelled at her assistant while I was sedated on her dental chair - and the assistant walked out on her. Anyway, my view of dentists changed when I started going to see Dr. Huynh at TCH Dental. He is a very patient, understanding and skilled dentist. He speaks to you using normal terms not dental terms and ensures that you understand a procedure before he goes forward with it. A lot of dentists want you in and out so they can help the next patient and help their bottom dollar. Dr. Huynh takes his time - one major example that comes to mind was a few months ago when I wanted to get a crown, and was on a tight work schedule, he actually suggested that I call him when my schedule was more open - as he doesn't like to rush through his work. That's a mark of a dentist that cares more about quality than his bottom dollar. Luckily I have PPO insurance, since TCH isn't in my dental network, but from my experience with other dentists that are in my network, Dr. Huynh definitely ranks far above all of them. His office staff - Mai and Sophie are very friendly and will always try to work with your insurance first before resorting to other payment options (cash). Their pricing is upfront and so you know what you'll be paying before you start the procedure. They always call ahead of time to confirm your appts which is nice. Parking is a pain sometimes but you can park in front of the massage parlor if needed (I haven't been towed yet - *knocks on wood*). Awesome dentist! If you care about quality, I do not recommend this dentist. The service from this dentist and the receptionist was rushed and unprofessional. My dad came in for a consultation on getting crowns and root canals. The dentist said he couldn't provide a quote until we completed an X-ray. The $60 X-ray fee (which is paid upfront) would be credited if we proceeded with a service, which we did. My dad ended up getting 3 root canals and 8 crowns and paid almost $6000. Included in this price is the uncredited X-ray fee and an additional $100 when Tan C. Huynh grounded my dad's tooth so harshly that he had to redo one of my dad's tooth. A patient should not have to pay extra for Tan C. Huynh's mistake. We should not have had to pay $160 of the total amount. The receptionist said "Oh, we can just credit you $60 on your next visit." Well, we never plan to come back for another service. My dad didn't want to argue with them over this amount any further. The dentist rushes everything and the actual sessions were poor quality. The amount owed is not a lot, but it's a matter of principle. read more

I have been going to this dentist for about 3 or so years now. The dentist and staff are very nice and professional. I have had my routine cleanings, wisdom teeth out, a crown, some cavities and invisalign done here. Of course I am not going to comment that I loved having the work done because any and ALL dental work done anywhere feels HORRIBLE. No one LOVES having dental work done, no offense to any dentists. However, one thing that was great about this office was that you didn't have to wait long during your appointments to go in. Though I admit I usually try to make the first appointment available in the morning. Also if I made an appointment the day of, I would have to wait, but that is expected. I have dental insurance and that has been working fine. I have referred my boyfriend, friends and family here that have insurance and some that do not. My friends who did not have insurance did call around and go to other offices to compare prices and found that this office usually had the best prices. If you are scared to come here due to a review that was posted about quality and price, I am embarrassed to say that I may have referred them! I am unaware of the whole situation, but I can say that it is typical for any dentist to charge for X-rays. I have yet to see a dentist advertise free consultation,free x-rays, and free cleaning without any charges, no one wants to work for free. If you are worried about any extra fees, an estimate and list of the fees and costs for each service is usually written out before anything is done. I would assume in certain cases, some other things may come up and it would be discussed. I recommend this place because I personally go here and have had no problems. I am scared to death of the dentist and had major pain in my face. I went to this dentist for the first time today and I will be happy to come back here anytime!!! The staff was so nice, accomodated my pain and got me intoday...a Saturday right before Christmas! Everything in the office is hi-tech and they are very honest. This dentist could have told me I needed thousands of dollars worth of work but examined me for a long time and then told me that maybe I had a sinus infection and that was causing the tooth pain. Wrote me a script for a Zpak, gave me some mild meds for the pain and sent me on my way. HONEST and professional. I am going to send my whole family here now. I hate the dentist. Like seriously, one of the worst places for me to go to because: 1) Gag Reflex and they work inside my mouth 2) Traumatizing from when I was little with my dentist watching Vietnamese music shows while cleaning my teeth 3) That little drill could slip in a second and drill my tongue and i wont be able to taste and yelp 4) I needed my wisdom teeth pulled out But. This place i came in with my wisdom teeth KILLING me. They grew out somewhat straight but ended up being a little diagonal with nothing else to bite down on and sharp as shit. So my sister Dee L. calls in when i'm at school, at this point i was lisping because my mouth hurt so bad. She called in at around 12:30, I came in at 4PM for a quick extraction. As i sit here hungry and my face throbbing a bit, i'm really glad i came to TCH. They were quick and virtually painless and let me blast my ipod so i wouldn't hear them pulling at my teeth. AND they paid attention to me and my gag reflex unlike some dentist i know..... I would probably come here more often... If i had dental insurance. I hate being and post grad without a dental plan. WHOS GUNNA REGULARLY CLEAN MY SHARK TEETH AT AND AFFORDABLE PRICE? Super duper nice dentist! I went today to get a wisdom tooth removed because it was causing so much pain. I was scared at first, but they made me feel really comfortable and made sure that I could not feel anything during the procedure. It only lasted about 20 minutes and I'm very satisfied with what's been done. The people there are very nice and comforting and the clinic is very clean (spotless). I called in this morning at 11:30am to consult and was able to get an appointment on the same day at 1pm!!! Awesome right? Oh did I mention that I don't have Dental Insurance and the extraction only cost $150!!!!!!!!!! I'm definitely going back to get my other wisdom teeth removed there. Typically I am more of avid yelp reader than a reviewer but the quality service of this dental practice makes me feel almost guilty if i do not share my positive experience from here! Having my fair share of money monger dentists in the past that provided mediocre service and lackluster attitude with a sole focus on how a patient will be paying "Do you have insurance?", "Are you paying cash or card?" rather actually showing concern for their patient needs. I have decided enough is enough, I am done paying for there terrible services (dentist aren't cheap) they're no more than auto mechanic crooks that try to sell you more than you actually need. "you need deep clean", "you need teeth clean". Like seriously?! You do realize I am just college kid paying with cash, right? I set out and made it a mission to find a great dental clinic that aren't solely based on their craft but more importantly how they take care of their patient. Searching through google/yelp, TCH Dental Care caught my attention with high stars and positive reviews that looked promising enough to ease my skepticism from past bad experience. I made an appointment to repair my chipped front tooth and I appreciate Dr.Tan taking his time to make my teeth look even and natural as possible and I was pleased with the result! Unfortunately, a bit of the repair came off two months in(its common for chipped tooth). I made a call for an appointment and got to see Dr.Tan the same day. BOOM, FIXED! Walked out to reception with my wallet in hand, ready to pay and the staff smiled and said "you are good" and I was like, what?...I don't have to pay? She said NOPE! You are all set! :) At that very moment, my fate in humanity of dental practices has been restored! You would think the story ends here, however the nightmare of my chipped teeth continues...Yep you guessed! This time a slight repair of my bottom tooth came off moments later when I got to my car. I felt guilty because it was already been my second time here getting repaired (free of charge), I hate to make it a third time, which I decided I will just try and get used to it (which lasted only a day LOL) I called in the next day and the staff said "Oh, hi Lam!! I remember you!, Sure, come on in at 1 pm, is that good for you?" My chipped tooth was smoothed out and corrected in a way that it can't grind the bottom teeth too much where it can chip again. (I don't grind my teeth by the way) Long story short, (well technically it is already) my point is they never once made it seem like its MY fault. What you need, is what you will exactly get! None of that bells and whistle package that most dental try to sell you. Dr.Tan definitely has an eye for hiring personable staff that are sincere! Whether from the moment you call or walk in, you are instantly greeted with a friendly smile and they genuinely ask hows your day/work going. I absolutely dread going to the dentist. Throughout my entire childhood, I had the worst dentist. She would watch Paris by Night while working on my teeth :(. When I was in pain from her half-assed skills, she would ignore me. More :( face. I'm finally happy to say that I enjoy going to the dentist now. My BFF recommended me to go here to get my invisalign and regular check-ups. I have great dental insurance now so it really doesn't matter where I go, so I was really looking for an awesome, trusting, and skillful dentist. Not only is the dentist skillful, but very gentle! I get my spit sucked instantly so I don't wind up drooling and a big plus is that I don't even get water splashed all over my face anymore!! I love it! :) I'm glad I found a place I can actually go to consistently now. I'm on my 3rd month of my invisalign trays and so far so good. Great staff! Oh, another plus, they just remodeled so the place looks much nicer. Con: Small parking lot, but it's not a big deal bc they're good with scheduling so you won't see patients sitting and waiting for long periods of time in this office. I love coming here!! I don't have health insurance which makes getting sick or having medical/dental issues a problem because I have to pay out of pocket. I first came into contact with Dr. Huynh when I got my wisdom teeth removed. It was such a good deal at $400 for two of my wisdom teeth and he was gentle as could be considering that he had to cut through the gums to pull those suckers out. I would recommend this office to everyone. I love this place because Dr. Huynh is so trustworthy. You don't have to worry about being ripped off or an unreasonable price. I went to another dentist (Bright Now in Fountain Valley) and they kept trying to push sales and made me feel really uncomfortable. There is none of that here. You can always be guaranteed great service as well. The secretary/office manager is the sweetest lady and is my favorite person. I love coming to this office just so I can see her and talk to her! Doctor Tan is always respectful, kind and patient to his patients. As a child I hated going to the dentist, especially when they stick those cardboard crap into your mouth to take pictures. I go to Dr. Huynh once or twice a year for a good teeth cleaning. He is the nicest guy and does a thorough teeth cleaning for $50. What I like about his office is that it's family-run, as his wife is his office manager and so sweet. The toothbrushes they give away are the nice ones, not the cheap ones, and though I'm no expert on dental equipment, I always leave his office with a clean, refreshed mouth. His office looks and feels clean, the bathroom is clean, and the dentist is thorough and careful. Definitely recommend but have an appointment, and be on time, or you'll be waiting a while. The office doesn't look appealing from the outside but its super clean and modern inside! Sophie was who I talked to on the phone about a consultation to remove my wisdom teeth and she also was the technician that did my x-rays. the X-rays were done quick (10-15 min) and as painless as those teeth X-rays can be. I then waited for Dr. Huynh to go over my X-rays. My consult with Dr. Huynh was quick and fast similar to my wisdom teeth removal. It was the aftermath of it all that made me really second guess my decision. I woke up from my nap with the novocaine out of my system in immense pain. I figured I would experience discomfort but my level of pain was really bad for the first day. I had hope with the pain relievers I was given that maybe the next day would be better but it wasn't. I became a bit worried and came back to Dr. Huynh to see if he could figure out what was wrong. Turns out I somehow had an infection and it was causing my fever and pain. I was given a prescription for a stronger pain killer and fever reducer. A little over a week I was back to normal but because of that entire aftermath I don't think I will be going back to get my other wisdom tooth removed or be referring any of my friends or family. Maybe my particular incident doesn't happen often or maybe my body reacted badly but regardless I wouldn't want to have someone else experience what I had to experience. Yes, he is the cheapest doctor around (especially at the time when I didnt have health insurance) and his staff is super sweet but I guess you get what you pay for... :( read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in over 12 years. I was skeptical about going to just any dentist thinking I would need major work done. Dr. Tan came highly recommended and after reviewing all the reviews and seeing his rating, I went in for a consolation. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The prices were extremely reasonable compared all the other dentist. Dr.Tan provided me with all information needed so I can make an educated decision on how to proceed. My insurance cover most of the cost and the remaining balance out of pocket the balance the office let me make monthly payments until the balance was paid off even though the work was completed a few months prior. i'm ashamed to admit that it took me awhile to return for a check up and cleaning. $50 for a thorough teeth cleaning + check up if you don't have dental insurance. i'd recommend getting a set of x-rays done too so they can see what's "under the hood." it was an additional $60, but preventative care ends up being cheaper than treating something if it's undetected. DO IT! as usual, i thoroughly enjoyed my visit here (as much as you could possibly enjoy hearing the scraping and picking noises on your teeth). the doctor is super gentle and none of it was painful, though there was minor discomfort that comes with the noise of the tartar getting scraped off your teeth. it's a small price to pay for slippery smooth, slick teeth. doctor and staff were all pleasant and friendly as usual. they all speak vietnamese and english fluently too. there was a woman who assisted him with the suctioning and such and she was ridiculously nice and gave me a good tip: a simple warm water + salt mixture is better than listerine to rinse your mouth. left with my teeth feeling like...the day i got my braces off. few weeks later and my teeth still feel awesome. results are immediately visible and you get a little goody bag. i'll definitely be back more regularly for my cleanings! read more

He is a very good dentist and his staff is phenomenal. Long story short, i went to another dental location for teeth cleaning, they had checked my teeth and gave me a price(with insurance) for 3 cavities that they said i had. Assuming that they may be right, i went to check with Dr. Huynh, who handled my wisdom teeth in the past, to make sure. With a thorough check, he said i only had one cavity which is not serious and the other ones, that the other dentist location said i had cavities, were just stains. With that said, Dr. Huynh is a honest man and only works on procedures that will benefit your teeth, he never pressures you to do a procedure you may not need. Key factor, he gives you the option to choose. In regards to price, Dr. Huynh and his staff gave me a reasonable, out of pocket price, when i did not have insurance to cover for wisdom teeth. Now that i have dental insurance, which pays 70%, they have a policy that may cost me little to no cost for my future dental procedures. BEST DENTIST IN WESTMINSTER!!! TRUST! read more
