NO double discounts here Christine..queen of rude and poor customer service.

My U discounts did not come off and when I asked the wonderful you cashier to check he had to ask this Christine to help adjust the prices, because THEY HADN'T rung up correctly. She proceeded to make a scene and dress me down claiming now I got double discounts. NO I didn't. I will never go to that store again!

Moldy old coconut just purchased today.

I should have known better than to buy anything from the Shaw in Hampton that isn't the most lilly white produce on the planet. Anything besides a potato in this place is sure to be rotten. Here's my $6.00 coconut just purchased this morning 9/20/2022. I have been rooked by this location more than a few times with yogurt past it's expiration date, a burrata so old the printed date on the inside of the lid has transposed on to the cheese and now this, unbelievable! With the cost of food doubling and still rising daily it's almost cruel to leave unchecked overpriced expired items out for some other sucker to grab. A bit of advice, steer clear of this place unless your purchasing Twinkies or Windex everything else is questionable at best.

Wedding Centerpieces, flowers supplied by Shaws in North Hampton
    Danielle W.

I purchased weddings flowers from Shaws in North Hampton and had a great experience. I had originally called in 3 months prior to the wedding to "order" but a few days before the wedding I dropped in to pick them up and the order had not been put in yet. Instead of panicking, Megan in the produce department helped me out and was able to get $100 worth of Baby's breath for me the next day!!! She was super helpful and we ended up using the flowers in all 11 centerpieces, 4 bouquets, and 6 boutineers for under $100!!! Everything looked great!

My biggest complaint is the deli, seems even though there are two or three people there they are doing other jobs.

I have to get the pre-cut plastic bagged broccoli because their produce is awful

Shopping for the big dog Thanksgiving Day spread, we were also shopping for the days leading up to turkey day: Slow cooker chili, omelettes & sausage, honey walnut prawns.. (Yeah, I'm back into my Cantonese groove). While the store is a bit dated, it has a small town charm. It's very clean, has great displays to prompt you you could probably use more turkey stock and don't mind if I do, cans of pumpkin purée. Market Basket has a nice assortment of house-made sausage, roasted sliced turkey/ham/chicken and much more along with a mouth-watering prepared food section with interesting salads, grinders and (wait for it) $6 lobster rolls stuffed with fresh chunks of lobster meat. I'm from San Francisco: They thought I was a little weird jumping up and down exclaiming, "Lobster rolls for $6? SIX dollars??" The produce section is fresh but doesn't venture past the staples; they could bump it up. Overall, a very solid grocery store with above average selection, service and prices.

Why are they not working in an area where they don't need to speak English and are not going to be a bunch of rude assholes to the customers? Come on Market Basket you can do much better with all the money we give you every week.

This place is absurdly consistent. The portions are always generous, the quality is never caught lacking, and the dining room is spotless in that reassuring someone actually cares way. The staff (and it's always the same people that are there, which is cool in itself that there's no noticeable turnover in the staff) is friendly without being fake about it... efficient, pleasant, and clearly proud of what they're serving from fryers behind the soda fountains. Let's talk food, because wow. That's why you're reading this. The fried shrimp are so good that my wife (who does not like seafood) actively loves them. That alone should be printed on the menu. I've only known her to eat fried shrimp when the breading weighs more than the shrimp itself (which is not the case here). The tartar sauce is the best in North America. It's my crack. If I drank it through a straw (a bit too thick), that straw would be called a crack pipe. I literally smile writing about this tartar sauce. I will not be taking questions at this time. The "regular" fries are exactly what fries should be: crisp, fluffy, salty perfection. And the onion rings? Peak "fried seafood place" onion rings... golden, crunchy, and unapologetically doing their job, not tempura style, but old school Weathervane "fried seafood style" onion rings that you can sub in instead of fries on plates/boats for a small upcharge. Even the bathrooms are clean, which sounds like a throwaway detail until you realize how rare that is and how much it says about the place. We love it so much that we'll happily drive 40 minutes each way to eat there - in winter - because that's what you do when a place never lets you down. And despite the sign saying Al's Seafood, we tell everyone it's called "Big Al's Seafood" Not because that's the name, but because that's the energy this place has... It's not trendy. It's not trying to reinvent anything. It's just awesome, every single time and honestly, that's harder to pull off than any gimmick. Signing off... keep it up, Big Al.

I can honestly say that I was offended by their utter lack of urgency. I've witnessed sloths and snails make sandwiches faster than these twats. Watching them assemble my terribly lackluster BLT wrap (without Mayonaise!) - - - - - - Ok... It's been nearly eight months since I started this review, but I remember perfectly the gist of what I was trying to convey. So here I go... again: The two preppers/putter-togethers (the ones making the orders) were so slow, yes, but I think it was also quite painstakingly evident that they were high on the ol' Marijuana. Couple of Doobie Brothers were they. I was offended. Be a worthless, moronic slacker on your own time, but when you're making me a f**king wrap, sharpen up, you pathetic hippies! Ok, they were slow, got it. The wrap itself: Lettuce, tomato slice, and maybe a strip of bacon. That's it. Tasteless, essentially, and did I mention that it was the size of my fist. For a quarter this may have been acceptable but I seem to recall it being $6-$7. Don't get me started on the girlfriend's salad . . . This was a NICKEL salad for, again, upwards of $5-$7. She shared my complete dismay, needless to say. It's utterly reprehensible the way this "general store" is run. They used to be great, before they were a GS, but now they're not even worthy of my piss. Rye, down by the beach, desperately needs a fun, cool diner-y type establishment. A place to get a good, cheap burger, a place to have a beer at the bar amongst friends. If anyone were smart, they'd clear this shit hole out, and, should zoning regulations permit it, put a low key bar/luncheon/diner there instead. RGS is deplorable. Also, if I catch those same nitwit stoners there again this summer, I'm going straight up narc on their asses. Don't f**k with my food, you pansy bi*ches.
