Me and The Hubs were in the area about a month ago doing a leaf-peeping drive through Guanella Pass…read moreand stopped here for lunch. It was OK. It was a nice day so we sat out on their patio. The Hubs ordered the French Dip and fries. I ordered the Meatloaf Special ($11.95!) and iced tea. The special came with a choice of soup or salad, a generous portion of meatloaf with brown gravy, choice of potato (baked, mashed, or fries, I think), and a choice of vegetable (green beans or corn). Anyway, I chose salad, baked potato and green beans to accompany the meatloaf: - Meatloaf was pretty good - Baked potato was excellent (hot and fluffy - perfectly cooked) - Green beans were unseasoned canned variety (adding S&P helped) - Salad was bagged iceberg blend with bits of red cabbage and carrots and nothing else (adding some onion, cucumber, and a cherry tomato or two would have made it more like an actual salad, but what do you want for an included salad in a $12 special). - Iced tea was brown water The Hubs said his sandwich was OK. Servers were friendly and the food came out hot and in a timely manner.

We only used the drive-thru since we were in a hurry to get home to Denver, but now we are intrigued to go inside next time. We were helped by the most adorable lady. We were planning on ordering Americanos (the old standby), but after seeing the cozy place, her grandma-like warmth and their extensive cafe menu, we decided to get fancy. I ordered a pumpkin-spice latte ('tis the season, after all) and my husband ordered an ancho chili mocha. Both were delicious, and his had a little kick. They have every flavor under the sun, and muffins, burritos, and cream-cheese stuffed soft pretzels, which peaked our interests after the fact. While we like the Knotty Pine place in Bailey- I think we might have to make Jitter Juice our #1 cafe stop when we're up that way. Oh- and bonus points for giving dog treats to our pup.

Turns out my gas reader was broken, and misleadingly showed it had gas, when it did not. There is no gas station and I had no cell phone reception. I initially felt stranded, alone, and helpless in this small town. When I asked about the restroom, the woman at the coffee bar said that the restroom could be used for a quarter. I didn't have a quarter, so she gave me one! When the owner of this place heard what happened, he stopped went back to his house to get two gallons of gas, ready to help me out. I had to force him to take my check. This company helped out a stranger without batting an eye. Gorgeous saloon-era venue. If you need a coffee or pastry in Jefferson, pull over!

I don't even know how long it's been since I first got to know about this mountain town coffee…read moreshop. It's been on the "must go" list for a while but I finally had a chance to visit it on a beautiful mid-February day today. It sure was worth the drive and time all the way from the south Denver. The moment I stepped inside, the warm welcoming atmosphere was sensed. As soon as the lady upfront greeted me cordially, I felt more comfortable and relaxed. The instantaneous gratification hit me where I almost uttered "I am glad that I took the time to come here!" I wanted to peruse the menu. To my "Give me a moment" statement, the kind lady said "Of course, take your time. We also have a Valentine's Day special drink right here!". It was a white chocolate based mocha which sounded quite sweet so I asked her if it was sweet to which she said "It's very sweet but we can always adjust it to half the syrup!" All kinds of considerate words were made in each of her reply. I decided to go simple today; I went with the drip coffee which comes with unlimited free refills. The lady gave me one of the cups and told me where the pot that contained the drip was located. Alongside the pot, there was a super mini refrigerator that contained two jars of cold milk: one is half and half and the other is oat milk. What a kind care the shop does to keep them chilled. The simple drip coffee was just what I needed; it hit the spot. And tasted clean with no burnt notes at all. Quality coffee indeed. As I was immersed in this review writing in the ambient setting, the shop started to fill with guests. Although it's so tucked in this little mountain town, there appear to be "coffee fanatic fans" that know this place. And like me, I assume that many of them are not the local town folk. There is no wonder why they are drawn to it; they know where to find great coffee spots. I loved every single bit of this cozy place. My recommendation is only one of the multitude of others that know this place.
