They catered a gathering I attended at the Lowe Lodge. I live in ATL and spent much of my youth in North Carolina. I am surrounded by BarBQ and I know many great BBQ. Their ribs were perfect and the burnt ends were hands down the best I've had. The surprise of the night was the Potato Salad which was simply awesome. Yes, with the amazing BBQ, you must leave room for a side! A generous side of Potato Salad. The Key Lime Pies looked great, but I chose to go back for more Burnt Ends and Potato Salad! I fortunately get to travel to Clinton frequently on business. Shawnee Mound is my GO TO! read more

Very expensive for what you get, my total was $38 for tiny burnt end sandwich, a pittance of fries, and condiment sized container of beans and potato salad. Waitress was nice tho read more

The food was amaaaaaazing. The food was fresh, made-to-order, best burnt ends I've ever had and we live in Kansas City. Our waitress was super sweet and attendant...kind to our three little kiddos as well. We will come back next time we're driving south! read more

The pulled pork sandwich was very good. The pork ribs, which is the gold standard in Midwest bbq, was a hot grey mess. Make sure to get these WITHOUT sauce, otherwise it's just a gelatinous pile of bones and goop. Almost no smoke ring on the ribs. Place has potential. Very good service. The ribs need work. read more

One of the top 3 bbq places in the Midwest my goodness the ribs the glaze the home made fries the home made beans now the beans the best I've ever had in fact ordered some to go home made sauce I would have bought a gallon so glad we stopped here and plan on taking a trip just for this place I spoke with the pit master and told him this is one of the best I've had don't miss this place !! 10 stars and I've never given 10' stars read more

The Rodeo Burger and the 3 Meat combo plate were great! The fries were also really good if you like the more homemade style. The service was also amazing. It is a small place, but for a small town BBQ joint it was hopping and that tells you the food is good. read more

A must stop! Happened upon this place looking for BBQ on our way north and it didn't disappoint. Brisket very tender. Pulled pork really juicy and incredibly well seasoned and fried French fries. Wonderful service as well! Very clean bathroom. Closes at 2 pm Tuesday and Wednesday. We'd go back if we are ever through this way again. read more

Food is amazing and very generous. Service is great. It's a small place and can be a little noisy but will definitely go back.

We were driving by and decided to get some takeout on our way home. So glad we did. We ordered a pound of brisket. They added pickles and 2 tubs of sauce, which we hadn't thought of, so that was a good surprise. We'll have to stop for one of their plates next time we're in town. read more

Stop here! Some great BBQ with no fanfare. Busy LOCAL place with good service. Nothing fancy here folks just great food. If you are picky with surroundings move on down the road and save the food for others!!! Beer and Coke products. Had briskett plate with fries, slaw and pot salad $18 which fed two hungry folks. Nothing came from the kitchen that we did not want to taste. read more

When I say I am blown away by this little shack- I MEAN IT! Shawnee Mound BBQ has some of the best tasting BBQ that I have ever had in my life! That is saying a lot coming from Lexington/Thomasville, NC where we have world renowned BBQ across many travel channels/ food blogs. We walked in & were happily acknowledged by two awesome/spunky waitresses! We chose our table & immediately given menus as well as our drink order. Our waitress "BBQ Oma" instantly took up with our 5yo, he loved her- as did we! This place is popping on a Friday night! They didn't have certain menu items left tonight (but that's what happens when you're late to the party - we arrived about 7:30pm). I got the Smokehouse Sink (it's practically an amazing tasting sloppy joe). My husband got the Smokehouse Combo platter & it was to die for!!!! THIS IS OUR NEW SPOT! It's worth the 35 min drive from Warrensburg ! read more

We made a quick stop on our way to Branson. The place was hopping. Only one waitress/server but she kept everyone happy. Our food was perfect. We actually split one platter and it was the perfect amount of food. Don't let the blueberry sauce detour you. The blueberry flavor is mild and not overwhelming. Everything was really balanced and the beans were among the best we have had. They do use peanut oil but state that right out front for those with allergies. Check this place out if you're in the area. read more

We tried a few things from here when they opened. And one was a sandwich and it was so dry water couldn't even help it sadly. Then we got these nachos that tasted so freaking sour we wasted the whole thing. And they didn't even want to compensate for it read more

The food here is great! I love bbq and this place is great! The ambiance is quaint and the service is good too! I have enjoyed every visit there! read more

Was hoping this was going to be good but the meat was so dry but maybe because it was around 1pm and they close at 2pm. The bbq sauce on the table wasn't tasty to me either. Now the coleslaw, that's a different story. It was delicious! read more

Stopped by on a road trip and they were busy when we walked in. We were welcomed right away and told he would be with us soon. The man was hustling and I appreciate that! We ordered the ribs and the chicken. The main courses were incredible and just fell off the bones. It had a wonderful smoke flavor and was cooked to a perfect temp. We got messy and enjoyed every bite. The sides were amazing with some of the best BBQ Beans I have had. Would suggest a stop if you are in the area! read more

This spot is a hidden gem worth the stop in Clinton! I am a KC BBQ transplant and compare everything to SLAPs. Pulled pork was spot on! Brisket was cooked perfect and seasoned to perfection. It's alright. The totchos were the best thing there and after that things got pretty disappointing. The food was flavorless and definitely smokeless. read more

I know BBQ, this is the absolute real deal. Simple, solid, and sincerely good. The cherry wood flavor on the brisket is really neat.

The food is really good but every time I go there, they are out of something. I have been there 3 times. The first time was fantastic. The second time they were out of brisket and the third time they were out of hamburgers. Besides that, the food tastes great! Their chicken wings and brisket are great! read more

I'll guarantee you if you eat here you'll never leave hungry very friendly people very good food

If you are coming down Hwy 7 from KC to the Lakes and going thru Clinton...check out this BBQ joint. Have to take the Business 7 on west side of Clinton before you get to Hwy 13 junction. It's half mile up the hill just past Town Creek on right side. Some of the best meaty, spare ribs..fall off the bone ever! Sides were great also..fries could be better but great service with good Ole down home atmosphere. Two sauces, try spicy/sweet...fairly new joint...bet da rest is real good too! read more

Incredible food, incredible service! Very down to earth people who know how to cook meat to perfection!

We stopped here on our way through Clinton following a recommendation from friends. Best recommendation we have had in ages! Pork nachos, pulled pork and brisket were all excellent. Dry generous portions. Will make plans to stop here again. read more

Barbecue ribs were pretty good, very meaty. Sauce was a little thin for my tastes. Coleslaw was very good. But it took 30 minutes for my plate to be prepared. This is a barbecue joint. Everything is prepared. Not my servers fault. read more

This guy knows his BBQ! I got 1/2 lb of brisket (to go) yesterday and when I opened the box, the presentation was very nice with the meat sliced just perfect with the sauce and pickles. (Not just tossed in). This was some of the best tasting brisket I think I ever had. Also the fries are wonderful! The sauce was just right, not too sweet or hot, perfect! I wonder if they sell the sauce to go? This is our second time here and WE WILL RETURN! read more

Our group had pulled pork and brisket sandwiches and a plate of the rib special. All of the meat dishes were great! Fries, however were terrible, dry and lukewarm at best, probably leftover from yesterday. Sides of coleslaw and potato salad were just ok. Friendly and attentive staff. Good prices. read more

I eat a lot of barbecue from Kansas City. This place here in Clinton Missouri has some of the best tasting barbecue I've had. I would rate a full five stars except they never answer the phone and the restaurant hours are inconsistent. The only way to know whether or not they're open it's the physically drive to the restaurant and check. This is an example of a restaurant that could be truly amazing if they answer the phone and ran consistent hours. read more

Second time there today and the food and the service were both very good both times. The sauce was a bit sweet for my youngest but the burnt ends were good all around. Interesting espresso burnt ends w/ blueberry bbq sauce but it was pretty tasty. Simple decor and reasonable prices. read more
