I don't believe the overall experience warrants more than two stars. I kept seeing these amazing photos posted by Shawarmatee on social media, so we decided to drive out to their food truck on Friday evening. The truck is parked in the Shell gas station on the corner of Babcock and Wurzbach. There's space for about 5 or 6 cars on the side of the food truck. The menu is prominently displayed, and the area around looks as clean as one would expect a gas station parking lot to be. The gentleman taking orders and packaging the food was polite enough. I'm not one for overly effusive or disingenuous customer service. As long as you're not a jerk and the food and price are right, I can tolerate a bland interaction. We asked for details about a couple of menu items, but he kind of nodded while never answering the questions. We ordered the mix shawarma plate, two Arabi wraps, and an order of falafel, as well as a can of Coke, bottles of water, and a mango drink. It took about 15 minutes for our order to be ready, and everything was hot and well-packaged. He even threw in some extra tahini and garlic sauces (or what he said was garlic and tahini sauce). My kids said the Arabi wraps were fine. They didn't think the sauce had any garlic flavor whatsoever, and the tahini tasted more of oil than anything else. My husband and I both agreed that the beef included on our mixed shawarma plates tasted off. There's a sweetness that develops as red meat begins to turn, and that's the unpleasant flavor we detected when we ate our plates. The chicken, as many other Yelpers have pointed out, was beyond dry. It lacked seasoning and was throat-scratchingly dry. The salad was uninspired and lazy, and the rice was adequate. The falafel was broken and burned in areas, but had an overall good flavor and almost fluffy texture. I had to agree with the kids that the garlic sauce tasted more like mayo. We didn't finish our food and ended up going to an Indian food truck down the street to fill our stomachs. I feel bad writing this because this is an elderly gentleman, but I also don't think the feedback on the chicken and the quality of food is being addressed. We want to go out and feel we're getting our money, gas, and time's worth, and Shawarmatee failed to deliver on that. Instead, it feels like a cash grab from unsuspecting diners. read more

Damn I'm so tired of wasting my money. The guy was really nice but the chicken was dry & I didn't appreciate him trying to charge me $14 when the menu says $11.99. I asked him how did it come up to 14.05 he claimed it was taxes. Fantastic middle eastern spot thats nestled within a gas station thats not obvious (unless its night time with all the lights surrounding the truck). I got the beef shwarma wrap with red and white sauce. The portion was substantial without being too big or too small. The beef was moist and flavorful. The veggies were fresh. The red sauce was acidic and zesty without being spicy or hot. The white garlic sauce is like crack and I put it on every bite that I had. I only came here because my friend can only eat halal, but Im glad we settled upon this place. I wanted to try more items, but I had already gorged myself earlier that day. read more

I hate to do this, I rarely give this low of a rating, if ever ordered the gryo wrap.. it was cold and the tzatzki sauce was bland and tasted like plain yogurt Also got the hummus, no flavor whatsoever ever, like its missing tahini but it had tons of oil. the pita bread was stale the baklava was good but it was supposed to come with 4 pieces and it came with 1 small, not worth the price super bummed, we need more Greek food in san antonio read more

We tried this food truck for dinner. The guy at the window was very short with me when I was ordering. Almost like I was a nuisance by giving him my buisness. We got the chicken shawarma plate and mixed kebab plate. The chicken had great flavor but was very dry. The rice was tasty too. I didn't try the salad as it had cheese on it and I don't like cheese. I forgot to omit it when ordering. My husband didn't like the lamb kebab. He usually loves middle eastern, Turkish and Greek lamb kebabs. The lamb didn't taste good to him and didn't eat it. I have ordered the chicken Shawarma sandwich probably about 20 times at this point. It's light refreshing and simple. Chicken as always juicy pickles have a nice crunch and the garlic sauce is great but the best part about the entire sandwiches Is the thin flaky bread it's wrapped in. I passed by this food truck on the way to work everyday for 3 months. I finally stopped and had it a month ago and have probably had it 10 times since then. Always great, fresh and consistent. Also open late which is nice. I usually get the shwarma arabi. read more

Had food here with a friend from Egypt so while I think I know Middle Eastern food he surely does. The service was friendly but not disrespectful #NotAllArabMenAreCreeps! And the guy didn't even make fun of my Arabic even as he and my friend speak it perfectly. We ordered two different wraps as I don't like lamb; my friend said his was good. Mine was chicken and our cook hooked me up with a side of extra pickles. I've had other nearby food truck food in this same style and this truck is slightly better in flavor and portion and amount of sauce in your wrap, not to mention customer service here was again GREAT! Mashallah! My new truck to eat from when I am in that part of town. And P.S. not that you'd go for the fries but they were perfect - crisp outside and warm mush inside.
