I was first introduced to torchy's tacos back in the early 2010s when a friend had his wedding in Texas. I was at another Mexican restaurant in town and the waitress asked us if we were new to San Antonio. We said we were just visiting and she goes. You have to go to torchy's tacos! Now. If you're at a competing restaurant and the waitress tells you to go to another restaurant, you know you better go check it out! She was not wrong. Torchy's tacos has to be in my top five Taco places of all time. It is one of those places that just screams quality. It definitely has a cool vibe, and even better food and service. This particular torches had a very upscale field to it. Now. The last time I was at a torches was 2018. Since then they have obviously grown in popularity as more establishments had popped up. This particular one definitely had an upscale vibe but a down-to-earth feel. I ordered my favorite taco which is the Matador, off of the secret menu. Don't be afraid to ask for the secret menu at the Cash register. Register they will give it to you. I had the Matador which was a beef brisket taco in a corn tortilla with a layer of cheese and then a flour tortilla on the outside of that. And do not forget to get the queso and chips. Those will change your life. This is one of those places you'll only run into once or twice in a lifetime. The food is so good, and the place is so cool, they need to be everywhere. A torchy's tacos in Las Vegas, as it would go over like gangbusters. Torches, if you are listening, please come to Las Vegas. Vegas. I will even work as a bus boy for free to help get that thing off the ground. These tacos are that good. Bottom line? What can I say that I have? An already said? These tacos are absolutely wonderful, the chips and queso are to die for pretty much everything on the menu will change your life. If you ever ever out Texas way, go check out torchy's and prepare for a cosmic event to happen in your life. read more

17 Oct 2025 We went again right after they opened after a doctor appointment in the area. Pleasant cashier. Really nice. This time I asked if they have coffee. They do!! And it's quite good I should have asked for the brand. I had the burrito again and the husband had the Wrangler. The playlist was also very good. Ethereal-sounding music. The Weekend singing 'Secrets'. A great rendition. I asked if they key off of Spotify. The barkeep said she believes it is a Torchy's playlist. A great visit today. Go there. read more

Torchy's Tacos - June 2025 Breakfast burrito with a couple of bites gone - Tacos Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Recommend: Not for me. Food: I ordered the queso & chips, shrimp Baja taco, and trailer park chicken taco. The tacos are big, so you do get plenty of food. I felt as if two tacos was enough for me but what I will say is that they lack seasoning. The Baja shrimp taco would be better if the shrimp were cut up in smaller pieces and had some type of seasoning. The shrimp tasted almost boiled. The chicken taco was the same, no seasoning. Both have lots of veggies included. I went back on two different occasions and both times it was the same. The one thing I would go back for is the queso. It was soooo good! Creamy, enough spice, tang, and cheesiness. The chips are fresh and crunch, they go well with the queso. Service: this is kinda of a self service type establishment. You order via kiosk. I think if they get super busy, they'll have cashiers take orders. The kiosks are fairly easy to work. Once the food is ordered someone delivers it to you. It's pretty fast. Other than the delivery of food, I didn't encounter any service staff. Ambiance: Almost reminds me of Chachos but a bit more expensive. I believe there is a bar to order alcoholic drinks but I've not tried it. read more

Genuinely one of the worst experiences I've had here. I ordered two tacos and a bowl to go and waited 40 minutes for my food, only for it to come out barely warm. When I asked the girl at the front about my order, she said they were busy, but there were only around 10 people in the restaurant and most of them were already eating. What made it even more frustrating was watching people who came in after me, including other to-go customers, get their food before I did. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. . read more

Torchys is for cooool people. It has a Austin, artsy vibe a good selection of craft, domestic, and import beer and their tacos have a tendency to over-use avocados which is totally my vibe, especially when they fry them. Don't let the fun names they use for their original taco/burritos throw u off, they r serious tacos. read more

Wow...another great Yelp find. I was in the mood for shrimp tacos and used that for the search and Torchy's popped up. I mean...come on...the name at least sparks interest. Anyways we go and they have a nice selection of tacos and you can mix-&-match. Service was friendly and great. The place was nice and they have a bar if you choose a cold beverage for this Texas heat. Would recommend!!! read more

Stopped by for lunch after a walk around McAllister Park. These tacos are amazing! I had the trailer Park and the Baja Shrimp tacos ( both recommended by our server). Both were very good. I have to say the favorite part of the meal was the chips and Green Chile queso....wow! I could have eaten the whole thing myself. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating inside. The servers were friendly and helpful. There are plenty of choices from the menu. Parking is easy out front. This is a good choice for lunch or dinner. read more

Love the migas and chips and queso at Torchy's. Always delicious and love the self check out option. Fun vibes always and attentive staff.

Oh Torchy's, I think you just "torched" yourself. (Face palm.) I've been a long time Torchy's Taco fan, with this location being a favorite for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The greatest aspect of Torchy's was the swiftness of service, cleanliness, and, of course, the food. For me, the Democrat and the queso have been my loyal friends. But on this last visit with my son, I walked in to a computer screen to "self-checkout", which was absurd as I had to maneuver through which items, to what tortilla and what topping, etc. I've done the same procedure for a take-out order but never in person. And definitely not in-person while trying to control my young son. The best part?! The audacity to ask for a TIP!!! For what?! THEN, after going through the absurd ordering process, I proceeded to try to find a table to sit at that was CLEAN!! So, being a mom, I pulled out wipes and cleaned down my own table. The only service actually provided that day? Bringing out my food. Thanks Torchy's, because, as many of you know, I then clean up my own table. So again, what am I tipping for?! Needless to say, it wasn't a pleasant dining experience and probably my last visit. Self-service has gotten so out of control that Torchy's may as well hire robots, at least they might be properly programmed to clean. read more

If you haven't been to Torchy's Tacos, you're seriously missing out! Torchy's is the perfect spot for a casual meal with amazing flavors The Crossroads taco is a smoky, flavorful dream with tender brisket, while the Mr. Orange is a fresh and zesty delight with blackened salmon that just melts in your mouth. Both are a must try. I think one taco is more than enough for one person. I wouldn't do more than 2. The servings are generous And let's not forget the cherry on top--free queso and chips with a military ID! Their queso is insanely good--and they put guacamole in the middle read more

Cute restaurant and friendly staff. I had the Muay Thai which was the taco of the month and the regular beef fajita taco. We also ordered the threesome, which is a small bowl of fresh guacamole, salsa of your choice, and queso. It was all delicious. My one complaint is that I wish the tortillas were thicker. The filling is sooo good, but then it's served with a thin tortilla. I would still eat here though! And I would still recommend. I just love the food! read more

Every time I come to this location I have to use a kiosk. The kiosk process is cumbersome & time consuming. Then, after I use the kiosk I have to find someone to get my drink cup. There's even a printed sign posted below the kiosk asking customers not to go behind the counter to get a drink or drink cup. The person who answered my last review claimed the kiosks are for overflow & not used normally. This is not my experience. If your restaurant is going to be self-service, then allow customers to grab a cup or drink without waiting even longer to find the ever-missing employee behind the counter. read more

The vegan FoSho taco was excellent! The corn tortilla is hearty and flavorful, the beans and rice have a lot of flavor, a good helping of avocado, fajita veggies, corn, and crispy onions--I opted to swap the Diablo sauce for poblano ranch (which is not vegan). I always love the chips & queso, and the sangrias during happy hour really hit the spot. I've always had great service at Torchy's. And it's always been clean and tidy. read more

We love your food, so I'm saddened to write this review. We came in tonight and had such extreme difficulty ordering from the kiosk that we left, hungry kids and all. The counter attendant was not helpful at all, even though we were clearly struggling. When I was finally finished, an error message came up -- twice -- as I tried to pay. This was despite there being no line when we showed up. Please allow a human to take orders and get rid of the kiosks. Your restaurant is frequented by families who want an easy dinner, not tech problems. My hungry kids and I walked across the parking lot and ate elsewhere. Please fix this. read more

First time trying Tex Mex, I was looking forward to it but after the food I had, I will sadly not be returning here. As a 100% Mexican I take my tacos very seriously. My wife and I ordered 2 Tacos each, rice and beans, chips and salsa and a Mexican Coke. My first Taco was the "Naughty Santa" chorizo and shrimp with condiments on it. At first I thought it sounded amazing but I was wrong. The chorizo was too salty and the shrimp was very bland. The 2 do not compliment each other. My 2nd Taco was the "The Tipsy Chick" marinated chicken and grilled chicken with and other condiments on it. It was really sweet. A gross kind of sweet. The Rice and Beans were not good. Just no flavor at all and dry. The chips and Salsa: the salsa had good flavor but no heat. The chips were ok but a bit grainy. Wasted potential. My wife's Tacos were just ok too. The service was great but the food was not. Why is there no flavor in the meat? I understand Tex Mex is different than Mexican food but they should have some standards. Food was bland and very underwhelming, too many things on the tacos made the flavors not mix well and ended up being just a mess in your mouth. I haven't given up on TexMex just yet, I'll give it another chance elsewhere. The coke was the only good part. Food 2/5 Salsa 1/5 Service 4/5 read more

Torchy's is the best taco in Austin & there's a LOTTA competition here for the #1 spot. Torchy's makes a gourmet taco that's still super filling to me. Great service, excellent seating & nice comfortable spacing. If you're from outta town & don't include Torchy's on your list next to Jack Black's BBQ & Matt's El Rancho then you've missed the best taco I've ever eaten. I'm a tough reviewer, and they've earned at least 5 stars. read more

Adored The Taco of the Month (The American), the smoky Crossroads brisket and the crispy Fried Avocado--with hyper-tender Green Chile Pork. The street corn is a must as well as the Queso and chips and the salsa menu starting with the tomatillo to diablo is fantastic. Breakfast tacos (Wrangler and Migas) were also generous. Knowledgeable, quick service and reasonable prices, we will come back! read more

Mehhh! Northern tacos, is all I can say. Tortillas like Mission brand and meat was flavorless. Do yourself a favor and hit up a Jalisco or Taqueria instead. I ordered a chorizo and egg taco. Opening the foil, I could smell the chorizo and egg. A delicious aroma. I opened the taco, filled it with salsa and took a big bite. Low and behold, I feel something. It wasn't a stray egg shell or an ingredient to another taco, although that would have been welcoming. It was a long strand of HAIR... Disgusting.... I will not be coming back to Torchy's Tacos!!! read more

One of my favorite fast food taco places in Texas, I cannot believe it took me over a year to finally try this place out. My friends and I randomly wanted to try some tacos and we decided to go here. Trailerpark, hands down one of the best tacos they have if you love fried chicken. They can make the taco trashy by adding queso and removing the lettuce. Other tacos include green chile pork, barbacoa (Democrat), Baja shrimp, jalapeno cheddar sausage (Republican). Salmon (Mr. Orange), and much more. I typically order three tacos at other places, however, I only get two tacos here due to the large portion size. The only reason why I don't give this place five stars is because their churros are mediocre. Nothing too spectacular, maybe I am biased but I love Disney's churros and they do not compare. In my opinion, they come out a bit hard instead of airy and light. Since the churro itself is already very sweet, I don't use the side of slice de leche. Overall, I will definitely miss this place when I move. read more

I love their menu and the drinks and I love the ambience.. there's nothing about Torchy's I don't like.

The food was not good. The shrimp wasn't fresh and the flavor combination was not good. The queso was sour and tasted very odd. The street corn also had a distinctive sour taste I did not enjoy it. The drinks were good but the food was just not it. read more

Torchys will never be lauded for having great tortillas or chips. But the green chili queso and unique taco offerings more than make up for it. This place at one time was great. Last time in we walk in the door and rather than a human being we are now supposed to order through these giant ordering screens and only one out of two of them was working. Ten people in line and it took at least fifteen minutes for everyone to get their orders submitted. One out of two of the ice machines still doesn't work properly and hasn't for weeks. Tortillas were hard and cold. Pork was cold. Queso was cold. Our group decided we will never go back. read more

I thought I would splurge and bought three tacos to go. I placed my order at the bar because their ordering online wasn't working. The bartender was very nice. Okay. First when the tacos are made correctly they are great. That being said. They are never correct. Every single time my tacos are made incorrectly and I don't order anything off the menu or substitutions. Straight off the menu basic tacos. ALWAYS wrong. Tonight I checked before I left and was like hey it's missing green chilies. She's like okay goes back and has it remade. Jokes on me. I should have checked because it was made even worse. It was the chicken and a handful of a cheese in a hard tortilla. Honestly last time I'll be back. It sucks because the managers are fantastic but their cooks are terrible and must have horrible attitudes. This was my absolute last straw here. I've given them month of fixing this problem. Talked to managers and employees. And this just pissed me off to no end. Don't waste your time or money here. read more
