June 2025 Breakfast burrito with a couple of bites gone
    Susan C.

17 Oct 2025 We went again right after they opened after a doctor appointment in the area. Pleasant cashier. Really nice. This time I asked if they have coffee. They do!! And it's quite good I should have asked for the brand. I had the burrito again and the husband had the Wrangler. The playlist was also very good. Ethereal-sounding music. The Weekend singing 'Secrets'. A great rendition. I asked if they key off of Spotify. The barkeep said she believes it is a Torchy's playlist. A great visit today. Go there.

Recommend: Not for me. Food: I ordered the queso & chips, shrimp Baja taco, and trailer park chicken taco. The tacos are big, so you do get plenty of food. I felt as if two tacos was enough for me but what I will say is that they lack seasoning. The Baja shrimp taco would be better if the shrimp were cut up in smaller pieces and had some type of seasoning. The shrimp tasted almost boiled. The chicken taco was the same, no seasoning. Both have lots of veggies included. I went back on two different occasions and both times it was the same. The one thing I would go back for is the queso. It was soooo good! Creamy, enough spice, tang, and cheesiness. The chips are fresh and crunch, they go well with the queso. Service: this is kinda of a self service type establishment. You order via kiosk. I think if they get super busy, they'll have cashiers take orders. The kiosks are fairly easy to work. Once the food is ordered someone delivers it to you. It's pretty fast. Other than the delivery of food, I didn't encounter any service staff. Ambiance: Almost reminds me of Chachos but a bit more expensive. I believe there is a bar to order alcoholic drinks but I've not tried it.

Wow...another great Yelp find. I was in the mood for shrimp tacos and used that for the search and Torchy's popped up. I mean...come on...the name at least sparks interest. Anyways we go and they have a nice selection of tacos and you can mix-&-match. Service was friendly and great. The place was nice and they have a bar if you choose a cold beverage for this Texas heat. Would recommend!!!

Stopped by for lunch after a walk around McAllister Park. These tacos are amazing! I had the trailer Park and the Baja Shrimp tacos ( both recommended by our server). Both were very good. I have to say the favorite part of the meal was the chips and Green Chile queso....wow! I could have eaten the whole thing myself. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating inside. The servers were friendly and helpful. There are plenty of choices from the menu. Parking is easy out front. This is a good choice for lunch or dinner.

If you haven't been to Torchy's Tacos, you're seriously missing out! Torchy's is the perfect spot for a casual meal with amazing flavors The Crossroads taco is a smoky, flavorful dream with tender brisket, while the Mr. Orange is a fresh and zesty delight with blackened salmon that just melts in your mouth. Both are a must try. I think one taco is more than enough for one person. I wouldn't do more than 2. The servings are generous And let's not forget the cherry on top--free queso and chips with a military ID! Their queso is insanely good--and they put guacamole in the middle

Every time I come to this location I have to use a kiosk. The kiosk process is cumbersome & time consuming. Then, after I use the kiosk I have to find someone to get my drink cup. There's even a printed sign posted below the kiosk asking customers not to go behind the counter to get a drink or drink cup. The person who answered my last review claimed the kiosks are for overflow & not used normally. This is not my experience. If your restaurant is going to be self-service, then allow customers to grab a cup or drink without waiting even longer to find the ever-missing employee behind the counter.

The vegan FoSho taco was excellent! The corn tortilla is hearty and flavorful, the beans and rice have a lot of flavor, a good helping of avocado, fajita veggies, corn, and crispy onions--I opted to swap the Diablo sauce for poblano ranch (which is not vegan). I always love the chips & queso, and the sangrias during happy hour really hit the spot. I've always had great service at Torchy's. And it's always been clean and tidy.

I visited this Torchy's five times while on my trip last month. The queso is amazing - something I recommend to all. Didn't realize active duty gets a free queso! The service is always quick and hard to go wrong with any of the tacos.

(It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! I'm taken aback every time I walk into to this wonderfully positioned taqueria in downtown steps from the River Walk. The smells, the feels, the sounds- it'll set your senses on fire. It's ambience is nothing short of walking the streets of Mexico and stumbling across the best local food find there is- it's your lucky day. It doesn't end there, because I have yet to discuss the flavors that this place dishes out. If you can imagine that other taquerias in town as as good as mamma's cooking, Plantaqueria is grandma's cooking saying, " I taught them everything they know." The counter service, decor and neon lights transport you to a pueblo that you probably have no business being in but were fortunate enough to get lost in. I feel that the people working to advance this visionary concept are in love with what they do because you get that experience with every bite of fresh, homemade goodness, weather you dine in or take/order out. Dude, fresh corn and flour tortillas, C'mon, man!! And speaking of vision, the owner, Sofia, who looks like she would get IDd at a bar has created something truly unique and incredibly delicious. Plantaqueria has revolutionized modern, classical Mexican street cuisine. It's open 7am-7pm so you can literally have this all day and you might wish you did. Y'all need to get you some, and don't thank me, thank the purveyors of this Alamo City gem. P.s. I've brought my mom in to eat this stuff and she totally agrees!

The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. The tacos were good, but that's about where I'd leave it. They weren't bad at all, but they also weren't particularly memorable. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." I'd rate it about a 7 out of 10. Worth trying if you're already at El Camino, but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. Pulled up on a Friday late night with my family ordered the standard 5 tacos. They are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the carne Asada and my mother in law ordered the chicken. While it did seem like it tasted good it was super greasy. (TMI coming up) When I woke up the next morning my I noticed my bowels were literally moving the next day, (I counted about 9 times). I felt bloated and everything. My wife even told me that as we were pulling off she witnessed the cook I believe his name is Julio eating some of the product while he was preparing peoples food (the side door of the food truck was open so you could see right in). Funny enough we decided to go back Saturday evening to give them another try, thinking it would be better, BOY was we wrong. I ordered the same order plus charro Beans, elote (corn in a cup) and 3 cans of sprite. This time we took literally one bite and the meat was DRYER than the Saharan desert both the carne asada and the chicken. (Tasted like some reheated old meat or meat that had been made days prior). We were already at the hotel at this point and was infuriated!!! We ended up calling and I believe I spoke to Julio (or whoever the cook is) over the phone. After lying saying that he cooked the meat fresh that day he stuttered I told him aint no way the meat was fresh. He then said and I quote " I cooked the meat "a couple days ago" then said "sorry I burnt it or overcooked it". (Knowing that why would you serve that to me?) I then stated "yes it tasted old period". I requested a refund in which he agreed to. Driving all the way back I brought the food back as well. Julio (or whoever the cooks name is) tried to plead his case to me saying that the meat is fresh and took a fork and tasted the food himself and then tried to offer me the food. I told him "no I don't want to taste it, just refund me please" in which he did. Dishonesty, Not handling food with care, lying. Is something that crosses the line and I won't be back. *Also if the owner is reading this I have the phone conversation recorded and the video evidence to show proof this whole interaction, so do not just glaze over this review* I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is for sure warranted. Seems like they will dress up the taco and selling you some "old meat" people just be careful and mindful when coming to this taco truck. "The Earths Best Taco" they say... that's a stretch!
