Place is filthy dirty. Bathrooms disgusting. No one cleans them. Where are the health inspectors?

Really impressed! Came here on Saturday evening, with no lineup. The place looks like it used to be an old school diner. I got #1 Chicken Taouk in a sandwich ($6.99 i believe). I was informed the meat will take 10-15mins, which was pretty accurate. The person who served me was extremely polite and patient. I asked him many questions about the menu and he was delighted to explain the options. Not only was the service excellent but the food is delicious! I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chicken is juicy (4pcs) and tender like a chicken breast and seasoned well. I added lettuce, hummus, tomatoes, pickles and tabouleh to the wrap. I was weary adding tabouleh because I hate cilantro, but to my surprise, I can't even taste it which is amazing. The wrap is quite light and small (it's not Extreme Pita size), but it's filling for me at least. read more

Ordered this on skip the dishes I ordered a spinach pie and a veggie platter, the restaurant kept requesting more time to make the order (for a total of 2 hours of making the food time) finally 2.5 hours later my food arrived wrong and cold.... 1 spinach pie which was toooooo salty and one veggie pie arrived instead of the veggie platter which is a difference of 18$... After eating at the shawarma place across the street a week prior, I decided to stop in to Shawarma Station to check out the competition. It is in the same plaza as Produce Depot, but there are plenty of parking spots available. At lunch on a weekday I've heard it gets very busy, but they seem to work fast. I got the chicken shawarma platter and my wife got the veggie platter (same as we tried across the street). The prices were low here for the amount of food. I think the total was only around $25, and the quality here is higher than other places around town. The chicken in my platter was very moist, but still had some nice crispy bits. The veggie platter had a good assortment of items: roasted veggies, 1 falafel, 1 dolma, rice, potatoes. My wife did indicate that some tabbouleh would have been a nice addition. Like I said, I think the quality is higher here than other places in town. The portions are larger across the street, but it is greasier. If you are looking for hangover help you may be better off going that route, but in general, I'm sticking to Shawarma Palace. read more

The best shawarma and middle eastern food is made at this restaurant. The area is not the best place in the city. My husband and I are regulars and we always enjoy the food. Everything is made in the house, the chicken is cooked to perfection, soft inside and crispy *not burnt* outside. They offer their succulent garlic sauce and if you're feeling dangerous try the spicy garlic. The best part is the prices and the generous portions. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I did not give them 5 stars because of two important things..1) the washroom and 2)the cleanliness of the sitting restaurant I avoid going to the washroom because it's extremely filthy (piss/wet toilet paper/water jugs/dirtiness everywhere). When you try to use the sink it's dirtier than anything else..a lot of the times there's no soap. I understand they don't have much power over the dining area. But please sweep once in a while and clean the tables. Certain families that go there leave the tables extremely dirty..perhaps a sign would remind certain people to behave like humans. I have witnessed a mother with her five kids throwing food at each other. Great food/Great people Bad location=not the best customer but Shawarma station still manage to make some amazing food. read more

Prices are good and food is excellent. South keys (in its entirety) is understated and looks a bit low key but don't let that deter you. I've been a fan of shawarma station for probably more than a decade, as I used to live right around the corner. The platter will feed two adults easily and is delicious. So this may be a fairly biased review, as I am quite partial towards Shawarma King (either location). I've been here a couple of times, once for just a cheese pie, and another for a sandwich combo. I tried the manakish pies with just plain cheese and a zaatar (like thyme) pie. I actually preferred the plain cheese, which is the whole reason I was introduced to Shawarma Station to begin with. Though the zaatar also had cheese, I was pretty disappointed. It was generally bland, even with the cheese, and didn't even have as much zaatar at all. They toast the 'pies' (basically a personal size doughy kind of bread) right in front of you in what looks like a stone oven. That helps it get a nice flavor, though I'd still stick with the cheese. The first time I had a zaatar pie, I bought it from Boushey's, who actually buys them from Middle East Bakery on Somerset. This zaatar pie was more like a pita, but had much more flavor and the amazing sourish tartness of sumac, plus more sesame seeds and general seasoning. No comparison, so regular cheese pie it is. I got one of the shawarma sandwich combos, and because I'm so gluttonous, I paid extra for the mixed meat, instead of just chicken or beef. I got all of the fillings, with garlic sauce and hot sauce inside, no hummus. It was pretty good, but quite small. I also chose all garlic potatoes, no rice. Potatoes were fresher, though the potent garlic sauce I was so used to eating at Shawarma King was not very potent here. This place is great because it sells manakeesh which are Arabic breakfast pies. They're basically a flat bread with cheese or thyme which are popular in the middle east. My husband often goes there to pick some up for breakfast and they always taste good and fresh. I have had their chicken shawarma once at 1:30 am and I am able to say it was a pretty tasty sandwhich (considering it was so late!) Staff is nice, lots of parking outside, clean washroom, ample seating in the restaurant, fair pricing too. It's definitely worth a try if you're in the area. read more

I was looking forward to giving this place a try during my never-ending search for the best shawarma in Ottawa. Their hours indicated they would be open, as did big signs outside advertising breakfast lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, upon proceeding to the ordering area and requesting a shawarma sandwich I was told that they are not open until 11am and to come back in 15 minutes. Really? The ingredients were all prepped and ready, the smell was inviting, too bad they were not, and didn't care to make me a sandwich. I guess they aren't hurting for business. Shawarma Station is honestly my favourite Shawarma restaurant to go to. I've been over a dozen times and it only gets better. The portion of their platters/plates are great and will fill you up! I believe the wraps are pretty competitive. Overall the price is pretty good. The staff is friendly. The restaurant is spacious. I've never felt crowded there before. The hours of operation is insane! Something like 7AM to 3AM. Apparently it's quite popular at night. This is my go-to "Shawarma Station". Hit this place up, you won't regret it. read more

I come from Windsor, where Shawarma is much more ubiquitous (believe it or not), and so I was hesitant to try any of the Ottawa shops, lest I find myself disappointed. Luckily, Shawarma Station is close to home, inexpensive and tasty. Plus I get a kick out of the combination of shawarma shop and old-school stainless steel diner decor. They offer your standard shawarma shop offerings (chicken or beef shawarma sandwiches or plates with all the fixin's and standard sides plus a zaatar* station. For me, shawarma spots are all about falafel sandwiches, so that's what my four-star review reflects: Shawarma Station does these well. The patties have lots of flavour and don't have the bitter aftertaste that falafels sometimes have. It's worth noting that different servers have different ideas of what "Everything" on a falafel sandwich is, so if you know what you want don't be shy about just asking for it. The hot sauce here is similar to a Frank's - vinegary, which clashes with the other flavours and is definitely not the thicker, garlicky hot sauce I'm used to with falafel, so I prefer to ask for hot peppers to spice up the sandwich instead. I suspect that the variability of what you get when you ask for everything extends to the shawarma sandwiches, too. (*If you haven't had zaatar before, it's a spiced flat bread with thyme, sesame and sumac (and probably other stuff). At Shawarma Station they toast them in an oven when you order so they're nice and warm. I had just a basic zaatar to try them. I can see why another reviewer said it could use more of the spice mixture, but it was good to try. If you want zaatar you'll have to order it from the station near the door then head back to the sandwich counter to pay.) read more

By far the best Shawarma you'll ever have. God I love this place! It's also one of the cleanest - although I have yet to visit the bathroom. They took over an old Rockin' Johny's or some sort of restaurant like that a few years ago and have consistently put renovations in. I've never seen slow business here. My go to is a chicken shawarma sandich or platter with potatoes and extra garlic sauce. They started making their own pita bread (or they get it fresh from somewhere) for the platters that is so yummy! They put out coupons on a regular basis through the coupon magazines you get in the mail. Try it out the next time you're in the mood for shawarma! read more

This is my FAVORITE shawarma place in the city! Their garlic sauce is so pure, not mixed with any yogurt or anything, and is the best tasting, strongest garlic sauce I have had anywhere! Their chicken shawarma trio is great - you get a canned soda, a delicious sandwich, and garlicky potatoes for under $8! Ordered delivery. The driver got lost trying to find the hotel I was staying at (A major chain hotel), called me, and asked me for turn by turn directions. He seemed very frustrated that I couldn't direct him, and didn't seem to understand that because zI wasn't from Ottawa, I wouldn't know the major streets. The food ended up being 20 minutes later than they said it would be, and when it finally arrived, there were no utensils to eat it with. The food itself was mediocre; I found it to be underseasoned, and the pita was very dry. Would not recommend for delivery. read more

Had the mix plate( beef/lamp and chicken). Service was quick and friendly and the portion was huge for 10.99, an excellent value. Salad was fresh and crisp, the meats were great as usual. The garlic potatoes were really good the right balance of coriander garlic and lemon juice. The rice was a lil off I found the cinnamon was overpowering. But over all another good experience.... " Accuses LOYAL customers for lying for " FREE FOOD"!! If I could give a 0 I would. That wasn't the case before, shawarma station was our go to place for my family. Spent at least 100 a month here for the past few years. Not anymore. Today we ordered from them, and we found 4 pieces of hair in our family pack. We called to complain, and they got very hostile and defensive. They then agreed to for us to come in and bring it in. To my surprise once my family member came in they told them to come to the back, and began to yell at them saying that " they know we faked this so we can get a free meal". !!!!! How rude!! Insinuating that we are lying for a free meal! WHICH WE OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T EVEN finish because of the hair!! I still can't believe the customer service and how they said that to us. If I can go back in time, I wouldn't have continued to support this restaurant or telling my friends and family about it. This is really upsetting. From now on if I ever want Shawarma I will go anywhere but here, even if it means I have to drive far away! Customer service and cleanliness matters. read more

Worst customer service ever, dropped by on Saturday morning the 7th of March 2020 at around 00.15 am, got served by a tall man with a mustache, I was still choosing toppings and he already wrapped the Sharwarma then bluntly asked me "Why you didn't say before??", totally unacceptable behavior considering I was the only customer and it was not even busy, he then threw the paid Shawarma on the counter like a piece of junk. My wife was in the store this morning and we had the worst: 1) Customer Service: My wife ordered Zaatar , Meat Pie and Cheese. The guy at the bakery, was not all there and He was rude and yell at her and told her to pay first and then come get her food. She also had to repeat her order 3 times. He also accused my wife for lying and NOt paying for what she ordered. 2) The Pies was very terrible, stale , very dry and hard. We had to throw a lot of it. We couldn't finish the cheese because it was hard (Looks like it was yesterday's) We threw away the Meat Pie as it was also hard. It was a to go order so we couldn't check the food. Never again, I will eat here and I will make sure this go on your facebook and twitter page and every rating website I can find. I will look into calling Food inspection agency as well. This city has TONS of shawarma places. Tons. Having lived in the Middle East, I do love Lebanese food. But, to be honest, I am growing tired of all the same-old, same-old around Ottawa. Shawarma Station surprised me because not only do they sell the ubiquitous shawarma sandwich, they also sell those ground lamb things (that I am not fond of, but love to mock) and those amazing flatbread with cheese things - the Arab cheese is that extra soft and squishy kind. They also sell the shish taouq dish that my wife and I were addicted to in Kuwait. They are pretty reasonably priced, so give it a try. read more

I've been to a few shawarma places in Ottawa and this is one of my favourites and definitely my favourite close to home. The staff are friendly and will accommodate all of your requests with a smile. The location is clean and there is lots of seating where a family can sit down and enjoy a meal. I have some friends who love their cheese pies but I've only had them a few times myself. Went there for lunch today around noon so it was kind of busy. As soon you walk in you can smell the deliciousness. The guys behind the counter were efficient and worked well to get the orders complete but not really very friendly. The woman at the cash was very nice and had a huge smile and was very friendly which made up for the lack of it on the service line. The food was great. I ordered at trio with a chicken shawarma, roasted potatoes with garlic sauce and a drink. It was fresh and it was filling. The only bad thing I will say about it is that the chicken was kind of dry. I took my food to go but the restaurant seating was pretty full and looked comfortable. Lots of big tables and booths for big groups of people. This place is a favorite. I live in Manhattan and have never found a shawarma place that comes close. Whenever I am back in Ottawa, I come here for the chicken shawarma sandwich everyday. This place is amazing! I had my first meat pie experience here years ago. The staff is super friendly and everything comes out from the oven. I've tried their cheese pies, meat pies, cheese and meat pies, spinach pies...pretty much every pie!!! Their shawarma meals and deals are great. As a person who enjoys at least one Shwarma on a weekly basis and works a career that brings me from the far west to the far east of the city day to day. I have to say dealing with the Shwarma Station has been an absolutely dreadful experience. After 10 minutes of clarifying only the address it was over an hour and a half before our food arrived; which to state the obvious of what you order from a shwarma restaurant was only two wraps... When the food arrived the drinks were wrong, we were brought chicken not beef and our order of extra garlic sauce on the side seemed to have been an excuse for no garlic sauce on the potatoes. bringing this to the managers attention over the phone we were discounted one wrap and upon completion of the call dogged by the employee to pay the full price regardless of what we were just told. The flavour of the wraps were middle of the road despite all the good reviews and the potatoes were two thumbs down absolute fail. So to sum this up (1-10): Communication Abilities: 0 Delivery: 0 Sandwich: 7 Potatoes: 3 Garlic sauce: 8 Price: 7 AVG: 4.2 Ultimately if you walked in and pointed to these people what you wanted it would probably be good.
