Mixed shawarma plate
Jessica L.

The food here is consistently good and the service is top notch. They give you very generous portions, this was shared between my date and I and we were. Stuffed afterwards. The setup feels a bit like a cafeteria at this location, but I'm not there for the ambience, I'm there for the food! There isn't a whole lot of parking but there are some spots available. Overall good shawarma, decently priced and good service

Wonderful place. So delicious food. Very reasonable price. Very friendly staff. So much food.

Small chicken shawarma $6.25
Stephanie T.

Highly overrated for something Ottawa is known for. This was my first shawarma in Ottawa, and after hearing all about how great shawarma here is, I was excited. I ordered the small chicken shawarma, which cost about $7 after tax. I got all the toppings except onions, and also added hummus and tahini. I asked if they had olives for the shawarma, but since they only had olives meant for salads which were pitted, they were nice enough to offer some on the side. I also found that the small size was not quite enough, and I am not one who needs to eat huge portions. However, I did hear that the best location is the one in South Keys so perhaps my experience would be completely different if I went there. Also, I have been told that I should have gotten the platter, except I would definitely need to share it with someone. Maybe next time. Note that they only take cash or debit. Also, this location has a parking lot which is convenient. We ate in, and the tables were reasonably clean. This may be an unpopular opinion, but overall, I felt like the shawarma was very average and nothing special. It tasted perfectly fine, but I don't think it's anywhere near the best shawarma I've ever eaten. Honestly, I think that Montreal and Vancouver make shawarmas better. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but I can see myself trying Shawarma Palace again, perhaps the other location or to get the platter.

The old location... P.S. the new location is adjacent to the right of this building!

Chef Hassan is in charge of one of Ottawa's top Lebanese Shawarma shops. He loves his profession, always pleased to see his customers, always courteous and most importantly his food is fresh and no other Shawarma palace in Ottawa can duplicate the taste of his particularly precise marinade of the culinary gifts that leave your tastebuds begging for more delicious exquisitely refined Lebanese comfort food. His portions are always genuinely generous as he is a generous Chef in true form! I have been going to dine at his Carling location for years now. His exceptional service and wonderful staff never cease to amaze me! It is my kitchen away from home especially for the jam-packed days or those special events that one can't concentrate on anything anymore and just wants a delicious quality meal for a very affordable price! Thank you Shawarma Palace. And thank you again and again Chef Hassan. #Helplocalrestaurants

I visited their new location on Carling and the place is super nice. It's bright and spacious with a lot of windows and the place is spotless. The guys were friendly, the food was delicious as always and their prices are so reasonable.

Mixed (chicken & beef shawarma) plate!

The shawarma in every other city pales in comparison to that of Shawarma palace. It is a staple in Ottawa and many utter its name in reverence. I approached the establishment with apprehension, because it was hyped. As haram as this will sound, I left a satisfied little piglet. My husband and I usually opt for a chicken shawarma plate as it's more than enough for 2 people. The mixed plate contains the best of both worlds (chicken & beef), but it's way too much to finish in one sitting. I love every single thing on their plate. Heck, I'd lick the plate clean to get all the garlic sauce. If you're eating for one or don't have a big appetite, then their wraps are just as good! A standard plate contains salad with a bit of light dressing, pickles and pickled turnip. Their potatoes are seasoned perfectly and drizzled with garlic sauce. I usually opt for the brown rice, but there is white rice available. Then there is the meat that they freshly shave off the rotating spit and heap on to your plate! Also, don't forget the glob of hummus you can scoop with the pita they provide. Everything is Halal! What I love about the Carling location is that not only are they generous but their meat is clean (no fat), well-prepared and fresh. I would say the location is comparative in size to the Rideau location, maybe a bit smaller with longer communal tables. There are a lot of take-out orders and turn-over is high so finding a seat isn't difficult most of the time.

$14.95 Chicken Shawarma Plate (with salad only & an extra falafel)
Jasmine L.

After hearing a friend rave about Shawarma Palace being the best Shawarma place ever, I HAD to check it out ! I ordered their $14.95 Chicken Shawarma plate & the chicken was still moist & I especially loved the crispy chicken exterior. I asked for more salad to substitute for not wanting the rice or potatoes (low carb life is sad sometimes )...and the staff was very nice about it and they even allowed me to have 1 falafel with everything too! The hummus & sauce they drizzle over is great, but I would pass on their falafel. Lastly, I can confirm that their portions are very filling !

The line!

Great food but expensive compared to other shawarma locations. Service is not the greatest needs improvement.

Lebanese Palace - Mixed Shawarma Platter $15.99.

We love Lebanese food as one of our best friends is from Lebanon and opened our eyes. It was sketchy walking in, it looked closed and the parking lot was empty other than 2 other cars. But, upon opening the door and making our way to the dining area it was much better. Clearly this used to be a BIG operation back in the day, but now looks like it is mostly for take out or quick meals. The dining area and kitchen were all bright and clean. The man behind the counter was very friendly and was happy to sell us a couple of falafel on the side. He custom makes each wrap and plate for the guest which is great. You can see the meat on the spits as well as all of the fresh veg and sauces. He takes his time to build it just right for us which was really nice. Good menu options, I would have liked to try more. We really enjoyed our mixed wrap. He was kind enough to put the hot sauce on one half and not the other. Both were great. The falafel was quite dry, and the sauce didn't really help much. Good flavor. Overall it is a solid option, I'd get it again in a pinch, but the meats and falafel were quite dry. Service was great, everything was fresh and it was a great stop for us.

The mixed shawarma platter ($15.99) comes with beef and chicken shawarma, potatoes, rice (they have white rice with vermicelli and brown rice and I got half and half), pickles, pickled turnips, garlic sauce, hummus, a salad and a pita. I asked for the salad dressing on the side. The meat was good, but the beef was less lean than I like. The white rice with vermicelli was soft and fluffy, but the brown rice was a bit harder. The hummus was thick and smooth and the garlic sauce was rich and creamy. The salad had red peppers, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, red cabbage and onions. No pita chips. Vegetables were fresh. I liked the creamy pink salad dressing. The pita was ok. It was wrapped in paper like a big candy or one of those Christmas crackers/holiday poppers. Service was neutral. They have a fairly large dining area inside and some seats outside as well. Lots of free parking in their own private parking lot.

Based on other reviews, especially Keith T.'s, I ordered the half grilled boneless chicken plate with Bokhari rice. The plate also comes with turnips, salad, hummus, and garlic. I decided to upgrade the salad to a fattoush salad, get an additional 2oz hummus and garlic sauce (I didn't know how big/small the ones would be that came with the platter), as well as 2oz of Ali's Hot Sauce and an additional Kabab Halabi skewer. The chicken was cooked perfectly, great char but still super moist. the hot sauce was very spicy. The fresh herbs and vegetables on the side were such a great pairing. The fattoush was good, especially with the extra crispy pita chips on top. I do wish, however, that plain rice was an option, as I actually didn't need flavoured rice and would've preferred plain. My husband ordered a chicken taouk wrap with garlic, lettuce, onion, and tomato, plus batata hara and a Coke Zero. I've never had fateh before and also wanted to try it because of Hadia G.'s review. I got a single order. It had freshly cooked chickpeas with a mix of yogurt and tahini on a bead of pita chips and topped with pine nuts. This was by far my favourite and I could eat it ALL DAY. My husband and I were obsessed. OBSESSED! It was warm and delicious, creamy but not super rich, and very flavourful rather than just salty. I swear it should be illegal to eat this many pita chips, but we just couldn't stop. This is a bold statement, but I think it's one of the top vegetarian dishes I've ever had. It's on the breakfast menu but is available all day. I got knafeh for dessert, also for the first time. It was nice and cheesy, and I expected it to be sweet, but maybe just a little too sweet for me. Since this was my first time trying fateh, I can't compare it to anywhere else, but I would absolutely order it again and again!

Came to Shawarma Palace after shawarma came highly recommended by a friend and generally this meal…read moredid not disappoint! The portion sizes are RIDICULOUS. For us modest appetites, this is easily 3 meals - easily! We ordered 2 plates and a sandwich for 4 people and still had enough leftovers for a small breakfast the morning after. My personal favorite was the mixed shawarma plate. I love how it comes with pita made specifically for Shawarma Palace, rice, potatoes, salad, pickled veg, and the meat. We also got the mixed kabob plate which featured tender beef but the chicken kabob was just a hair bit dry. The falafel sandwich was actually very dry and I would not recommend this. We also picked up some baklava for dessert after and I liked how it was just sweet enough! You can taste the pistachios and I thought the kiss of rose water was just enough to make the bite memorable!

Happened upon this restaurant one evening. I saw a shawarma place on the north side of the street,…read moreso I prepared to turn off and go back, but here was another shawarma place. Quickly looked at Yelp and saw a fantastic number of reviews. So this place looked to be the real thing. I stepped up to the counter and ordered the beef shawarma platter to eat in. The guys just kept piling more and more on the platter. It was absolutely ridiculously huge by the time they were done. It was stacked with beef on top. As I paid, I asked for a take-out container. There was no hesitation. So obviously, this is the way they do it. I sat in the super clean dining area and started in on this massive dish. Then I saw a young family carry their plates to a table adjacent to me. And they all had these massive plates too. So after stuffing myself and hardly putting a dent in this pile of food I had to load up the take out clamshell. It would hardly close and weighed 2-3lbs (after filling myself). So if you want to buy one dish and eat a tasty healthy meal for a week. This is your place. It seemed very clean in the restaurant (signs say leave your dishes on the table - so they are obviously bussing the tables regularly). The washroom was also exceptionally clean. The staff that built my meat mountain were super friendly. I would certainly recommend this place!
