Lamb Shawarma Sandwich
Kathy N.

Got a lamb shawarma sandwich to go. It's a skinny but long sandwich wrap. Lamb was a little tough and dry. Sandwich was ok to eat despite the dryness because it came with a lot of sauce inside. Not very flavorful or filling honestly. The establishment was very clean though and service was fine. Cost: $10.99

Gyro: 3/5, the meat tasted a bit dry and nothing too special about it. Wrap was coming apart and many burnt parts. Fries: 3/5, the toppings and sauce on top were great but the fries itself were very bland and tasted like they were frozen and heated up.

I usually disregard the bad reviews if most of the others are good and that came back to haunt me. The restaurant itself is meh. You can sit inside and the kitchen is open so you can see what's going on. I ordered a shawarma chicken salad and my friend got a plate. The salad was a good size and the dressing was really good but the chicken was so dry and didn't have much flavor. My friend said his food was ok but he didn't eat the hummus. I tried it and it tasted like nothing. There was absolutely no flavor. The portion sizes were large but that doesn't help the fact that the food needs work.

This restaurant is the most authentic Middle Eastern restaurant. The food is delicious and the portions are very generous. Also, their customer service is very excellent!

Service was amazing! Super helpful and kind! The fact that they actually have Knafah was the cherry on top.

Food, and service is great! I always make a trip into this place anytime I am in Seattle.

I love shawarma and looking that Seattle has so much Middle Eastern food I wanted to savor a sample. I ordered via door dash. My food came quick and delivered at the concierge of my hotel lobby. I noticed the substantial size of the pita and falafel. Though it was packed, my biggest issue why its not 5 stars is the sauce. Having tried Shawarma in asia, middle east and here my expectations where high. Unfortunately it was under seasoned and lacked that tahini yogurt sauce.

We were on our way to the airport and we came across Shawerma King. Absolutely great food and presentation. We especially enjoyed the shawarma wraps, salad and falafel. The Turkish coffee and baklava is a plus!! Everyone is super friendly especially the owner. Will definitely come again!

I was running late for a meeting and realized I hadn't eaten lunch, so I came here for a quick takeout meal. Needless to say, I will be coming back! I got the chicken shawarma sandwich and it was very well made! The bread is the thinner kind which means you can focus on the meat and vegetables! The seasoning was interesting, it kind of tasted like pesto and all the herbs used seemed to be very flavorful! The food came pretty quickly, and the guy taking my order was very friendly and nice. It's also a good place to sit for small groups if you have the time and would like to order a nice plate of food!

Sad to rate this as a 1/5 ): I got a chicken shawarma right now with high expectations. The shawarma is a decent size, it's narrow but long like the size of my forearm. The sad part is that the chicken had no taste whatsoever. I was really sad because it only tasted like the pita bread plus some lettuce. The chicken is just very bland. Maybe i have to come back and try a different meat. Total was $12.66 Service took like 15-20 mins with no wait.

Chicken kabab platter
Kelly K.

I popped into Shawarma King for dinner time takeout and settled on a chicken kabab plate. I was quoted 20-25 minutes for it to be cooked to order and ready so I grabbed a few things at Target a block away in the meantime. When I came back there was a little miscommunication about my order but other than that smooth sailing. I really enjoyed the meal, at a reasonable price too. Nicely seasoned chunks of chicken, rice, fresh salad, soft pita, and creamy hummus for dipping. These guys really seem to know what they're doing and served up quality food. No problem waiting 20+ minutes for a satisfying plate. You could probably stretch it into two meals and eat some leftovers for lunch, but if you're really hungry it's likely going down in one sitting. Being on University Ave, there's not really any parking around, so you're best off walking in on foot, or asking a delivery service to handle the hassle for you. Nice pair of guys behind the counter, would certainly order again.

Lamb beef shawarma plate combo

Wish I read the reviews more thoroughly before stopping by. The staff was kind and place was clean, and I waited less than 10 mins for food. I ordered the lamb and beef shawarma plate - unfortunately I thought the meat was overcooked / dry but the tzatziki sauce helped. I haven't seen meat cut in tiny bits like this before for Mediterranean food so that might've caused it to be overcooked. The late was $16.99 which was a little surprising because the price for this wasn't on the menu. I probably would not give this place another chance, and go to Al Bacha instead.

My husband likes this place a lot and I finally made it here for dinner. They are open late which makes it a great option for us when we are looking for dinner after most places close. We got a Kofta Kabab plate, Chicken Shawarma plate, and Eggplant dip. We loved both the Kofta Kabab plate and Chicken Shawarma plate. The Eggplant dip was good, my husband loved it.

This…read morewas exciting to me as I enjoy food from the Middle Eastern part of the world, and the entrees do look very enticing! We went on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasn't too busy at the takeout window. The restaurant is only takeout - there are benches right next to the takeout window, but there are only enough spots for 8 - 12 people (2-3 people per bench). The only other seating is at the nearby street seating offered by the neighboring bars, which I can see being restricted during peak hours. Parking can be very difficult if you plan on driving, there is only street side parking that is usually full, and nearby paid parking in lots. Service is fast, after we got our order, we only waited 5-8 minutes for our food. We got their recommended Soujouk (Beef) and Cheese Wrap for $16. The wrap is long, I would say about 13 - 14 inches long, and I can definitely seeing most people getting full after enjoying one of these. The flavors are nice and you can taste the spices from the sausage - I could taste cinnamon front and center with other earthy spices lingering in an aftertaste. The wrap is very decadent, the cheese is hearty and indulgent and that with the spiced sausage and textural difference with the cucumbers is pleasing. Do note with how indulgent this wrap is, you will accumulate a ton of oil in your wrapper as you enjoy it - a nap afterwards is in your future if you eat a whole wrap! I think that Yalla Seattle is a good stop to try these cuisines in a casual manner and the price is reasonable. There are some other items on the menu that kept my attention and I would totally revisit to try the other items offered by this restaurant.

Yalla is a walk up window, and there are just a couple of benches right outside where you can eat, and according to other reviews you can also go to Montana Bar next door with your food. The menu is posted in a couple places right next to the ordering window, and it's pretty easy to parse. Almost everything there is what I'd consider a "portable food", meaning something you don't need a plate, fork, and knife to eat, which makes sense given that it's not a sit down restaurant. They have veggie saj, meaty saj, mezze, a few sides, and a dessert. I really like their concise menu. We tried the baba ghanoush ($9.5), which comes with saj on the side, a batinjan and labneh saj wrap ($12), and a halloumi grilled cheese (halloumi grilled inside saj, $13). As you can tell, the saj underpins everything at Yalla, and their saj is excellent. Warm, soft, flaky, and tearable, it is perfect for both dipping and wrapping and grilling. The batinjan and labneh wrap is bursting (literally) with tender grilled eggplant, a rich sauce, and tangy, creamy labneh. It is truly one of the most delicious eggplant dishes I've ever had. The halloumi grilled cheese definitely hits the spot, and is more filling than you think by looking at it. Baba ghanoush is so smooth and flavorful, and I love the pomegranate seeds on top! The folks who work there are super nice, very friendly, and food comes out quickly. Prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to try some of their meaty saj! This place is going into my regular rotation, for sure.
