    Chicken shawarma plate
    Jon L.

Came here for lunch the other day, on the recommendation of a co-worker who told us that it was cheap and cheerful. Shawarma House did not disappoint. I walked in around 1pm with a small line ahead of us, and quickly ordered a Chicken Shawarma Plate. I received a take-out container with a big pile of yellow rice, vegetables, other fixins, and a bunch of chicken with extra sauce. I was a happy camper, especially for $9, all-in. Overall, the plate was good. The rice was tasty, the vegetables and fixins added a nice contrast of textures and flavours, and the chicken was well made and tender. The chicken could have used a bit more seasoning or even more of their extra sauces. Glad to have found a great lunch spot near the office, can't wait to come back!

Shawarma house crap - beef/lamb gyro (better known as salty spam) plate, complete with tasteless rice and mushy potatoes

just hit up shawarma house 20 min ago due to all the raving reviews.... And i'm confused as to these positive reviews.....grabbed a beef/lamb gyro plate, #1 the meat is basically a block of salt, additionally it's not your standard gyro sliced from a vertical rotating grill, it's actually pre-made spam (see pic).....#2 sure they give big portions but 80% of the container is filled with plain tasteless rice and mushy potatoes long story short, wasted $10 as i had to throw it out

Not your traditional shawarma place. The sauces tasted weird. On top of that the entire plate was cold except the rice and potatoes.

But the hot sauce they put on their shawarma was worth being stingy about.

We came here after seeing it recommended on social media, especially for their lamb shank -- so of course, that's what we ordered. The portion was huge, so we shared one lamb shank between the two of us. The meat was tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious -- we ate every last bite. The serving was so big that we were completely stuffed by the end. We're definitely planning to come back here, but next time we'll be prepared to share dishes because the portions are just that generous. I'd highly recommend this place if you want to try some tasty and spicy food in Toronto.

I had the Lamb Chops Gold Combo and the portions were enormous and so delicious. Four succulent pieces of grilled lamb chops. My friend is a vegetarian so he had the Paneer Tikki Gold Combo. Four chunks of cheese with grilled vegetables. All Gold Combos come with rice, salad, lentil soup and fresh baked naan from the tandoor. Everything was so colourful and delicious. The naan was so huge! We came around 1pm on a Friday and it wasn't busy. Very spacious and lots of tables to choose from. The customer service at the counter was excellent and so appreciated. Big thanks to Wasim who always gave us a happy smile with our meals! I'm eager to return and introduce Kabul Express to more of my friends. Highly recommend!

Good catch. Shish kebab isn't necessarily chicken. Here's the corrected version:…read more Quite possibly the best meal I've had in Toronto so far. Kabob Guys is an Afghan grill on the corner of Richmond and Spadina, and it's exactly the kind of place I love discovering. The restaurant has a casual, welcoming feel with communal seating and a few two-top tables. While there were only a handful of people dining in, they were doing a brisk takeout business, and it was easy to see why. From the moment I walked in, everyone was warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the chicken tandoori and the shish kebab with their flavorful garam rice, and everything was outstanding. Both kebabs were tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The garam rice was aromatic, fluffy, and packed with flavor. Everything arrived fresh, hot, and made to order, with just the right amount of spice to enhance the food without overpowering it. One thing I especially appreciated was finding a meal that felt fresh and wholesome. Sometimes it seems like every chicken place serves something fried or overly heavy, so this was exactly what I was looking for. The restaurant was spotless, the service was excellent, and the downtown location makes it an easy stop whether you're grabbing takeout or sitting down for a meal. This was easily my favorite meal in Toronto so far, and I'll definitely be back. If you're looking for authentic Afghan cuisine that's fresh, flavorful, and served with genuine hospitality, Kabob Guys is absolutely worth a visit. (If the shish kebab was lamb or beef, I can make the description even more specific.)

The staff was courteous as I placed a takeout order for Paneer Wrap and Fries. They forgot to put in fries! But the paneer wrap was good. It came with 2 sauces, which I felt were overly salty, but overall good flavour.
