Donovan's van was very clean, well air conditioned, and had all the amenities needed to go from one winery to the next. He's very knowledgeable of the area, well prepared, and an all around fun and great guy. He picked us up at our hotel at Marriott Courtyard Poughkeepsie and after the tour dropped us off at the Beacon Train station it really worked out very well. Donovan set up each reservation so I had to do nothing but, book my trip with him and when he arrived he even had champagne and bottled water for us! At each stop Donovan made sure that we were treated like royalty. He didn't just drop us off, he got out with us and set us all up comfortably at each winery even going out of his way to get ice for our wine and helping us choose the best reviewed wines at each stop. Then Donovan even took pictures of our group at each stop and then sent them all to me to make sure I had memories of our trip. Donovan's vehicle was clean and well taken care of. All 9 of us fit comfortably with room for a few more. He was so hospitable and so much fun to hang out with on our drive to each stop. (Cost $5 but will give you back once the wagon is returned) Apple & grape picking, cider sipping, beautiful views, and plenty of picture-perfect spots. She escorted us over to a table with a marvelous view of the vineyards. Maria was our wonderful and charming server. She came over with a complementary glass of their wonderful rosé wine. I'm not a rosé drinker, but it was delicious. We enjoyed a wonderful flight of wines. Our favorite was their '23 Double Fall Line $32. It has a marvelous smooth blend of Cab Franc, Merlot and Blaufränkisch (Austrian Blue) Grapes. Two bottles came home later. : ) Of course, we had to indulge in some wonderful lobster rolls. Each lobster roll was $23, plus for an extra $9 you get a nice dollop of caviar to top it off ! The lobster was from a company called Oyster Party in the NY area. I think the lobster rolls were some of the best I ever had. Just a couple of notes: - It appears the hill leading up to the vineyard was recently paved. Geoff ended up running our tour and was so nice and patient. We are a bit, um, loud sometimes but Geoff made sure to get the best angles with every group picture and even picked up our untimely food order so we wouldn't miss the last tasting. He was also extremely knowledgeable about local wine! **THE EXPERIENCE** It was a gorgeous fall Saturday. I highly recommend taking this trip in October, as the foliage was breathtaking. Milea Vineyard, our first stop, felt like a mansion, and the tasting room was sunlit and gorgeous. Clinton Vineyards was more of a country farmhouse, and our group had a private tasting with the owner, Phyllis, who is a super interesting woman.
