Really nice park with wonderful scenery. My favorite is the pond with the waterfall. As a family, we would take the kids to play at the playground (which the larger one is no longer available) and then walk the trails. Several pavilions to enjoy with groups and benches throughout the park to take breaks or even sit and enjoy the view. Shaw Park in Clayton is an absolute gem. The park is beautifully maintained, spacious, and perfect for just about anything including walking, relaxing, people watching, or bringing kids to play. The Treetop Playground is a standout feature. It's thoughtfully designed, modern, and great for a wide range of ages, with lots of interesting structures that keep kids engaged while still feeling safe and well laid out. It's clear a lot of care went into making it both fun and accessible. Another big plus is the abundance of benches throughout the park. There are plenty of spots to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery, whether you're watching kids play, taking a break from a walk, or just soaking in the surroundings. Rather than meet in some expensive gaming place (last time, we did Top Golf), we're saving money. Our company reserved one of the shelters in the park and had a catered meal brought in from Chick-Fil-A. This was pretty awesome as it's a beautiful park and the shelter was plenty large enough for our group. Beautiful trees, lovely smooth paths for walking, a playground for the little ones and enough parking for all. This is a great big green space. Wonderful place to relax or have your kids play. It has a sculpture area, a playground, several picnic spots with grills, a waterfall with a stairway beside it that empties into a pond. A few paved trails for walking. There's even a splash pad when we went (September) and shelters that can be reserved. read more

This park has plenty of parkings super close to Clayton high school. There are two playgrounds inside the park. The playgrounds are pretty decent size playgrounds. My kids love it here. This park is also great for walking your dog. My dog love to walk here and it is big enough for her to get plenty of exercise. There is a tennis court that I saw people play tennis here, not sure about the fee to use. Overall this is a great park and I tends to go here so often. read more

What a wonderful park! It's full of amenities.There are 3 playgrounds, a few themed gardens, 10 tennis courts, 9 ball fields, 2 sand volleyball courts, skating rink, swimming pool. This review is specifically for the Treetop Playground at Shaw Park. Shaw Park, isn't a small park, so if you are specifically looking for the Treetop Playground, I would recommend searching for "Shaw Park Treetop Playground" in Google Maps. That will take you directly to the parking lot that is in front of the playground. Here's a list of what I've noticed at the playground. - The playground is ADA accessible, which I really loved. - Though the fence around the playground is really nice to have if you kids that tend to wander off, don't let this give you the false sense of security as the gates are sometimes left open. - There is a small splash pad! Love that the splash pad is not far away from the playground area. - There are benches around the perimeter of the playground, and you can see most of the playground from any of the benches. - There is a water fountain, in case you need more water. - There are restrooms just east of the playground. - There are some really fun slides and fast slides! - There is a little bit of shade on certain parts of the playground in the morning, but most of the playground does not have shade so make sure to bring that sunscreen! One of our family's favorite playgrounds that we've visited. Check it out if you have younger kids or if you are just a kid at heart! read more

Swings, slides, and plenty space to run and climb around. I brought my 4 and 2 year old to play at the larger playground equipment side but there is a portion of the park with a toddler sized play ground. Be aware of the gates. Some people don't close them (and there was one that didn't close because it was broken). We got to the park around 1030 and it was very crowded on a warm Sunday morning... But probably because of nap and lunchtime, by 1130 it'd cleared out tremendously. And it remained that way until we left a little after noon. read more

Super quiet park in Clayton. I like to come here just to walk past the gorgeous waterfalls and to sit at the covered picnic benches. Great spot to catch a baseball game, sit in the grass or even take a run. Definitely the go-to park in my hood. read more

We are here on vacation and ended up staying in a hotel right across the street. This was perfect for our kids to get some energy out in after a long day of travel! They have a pond, waterfalls, and two playgrounds. The first was a normal playground with swings and slides. The second was a climbing playground which was great for older kids. This place is a winner for the kiddos. Tons of places to play and you can pretty much see the entire playground from wherever you sit. It has a few cool features that I haven't seen at other parks, like a few xylophones and these unique teeter totter things. Plus it has a huge splash pad that will be great for the summer months. There's this very cool tree house with slides coming out of it. Also, this would be a great spot for birthdays. There are bathrooms and a pavilion directly between the pool and the playground. Super convenient. For the parental units, there are plenty of benches to sit. Most have a pretty good view of the whole playground and a couple have a nice shade over them. Have fun! read more

I love that a park so lovely and serene is tucked inside the bustle of downtown Clayton. It's a perfect place to host events, and the city has many here, including The Taste of Clayton, The St. Louis Jazz Festival and Parties in the Park. There's also an aquatic center on the campus, which has a 50-meter competition pool, a diving pool and a splash pool for the kiddies. It also has an outdoor ice skating rink, tennis courts, ball fields, playgrounds and sand volleyball courts. It's a great place to hold picnics, too, as it's got picnic shelters and grilling outfits. read more

We love it here! Pros: Nestled in Clayton, this park is the perfect size: Big enough that you have to explore it to see the whole thing, small enough that you can cover the whole thing with a perfect-length walk. It has parking on all sides; the primary parking is in lots to the north and south. It has two playgrounds, on one the south side for older kids, and one on the north side that has some things suitable for toddlers and preschoolers. Has paved trails and is suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Beautiful scenery; trees everywhere, grounds are very well kept. It's always surprisingly uncrowded here, though the playground can get full. The north playground has a splash pad in the summer. The Shaw Park Pool and tennis courts are on the east side, though those require a membership to use (this can be obtained at Center of Clayton). They also have a pavilion and some covered shelters available for rent. Cons: I have always felt very safe here; however, there have been car break-ins here (this typically happens when common sense isn't used and people leave valuable belongings visible and/or doors unlocked). No other cons come to mind! This park is one of the best parts about Clayton. read more

I'm in love with this park. It's beautiful, filled with community events (like my 6 year old nieces soccer games), has great playgrounds and fun spots throughout it. It's a great park to walk around in and just enjoy yourself. This city is filled with great parks and I'm thankful for all of them but Shaw has a special place in my heart. It's right next to downtown Clayton so I imagine it would be the perfect spot for a walk after a good dinner out. read more

Treehouse themed with lots of unique play items including: fountains of water to splash around in on hot days, sets of low monkey bars, flying saucer swing, rocks to climb up, and a beautiful setting - you can't ask for more. What a cool hidden (at least it was to me) gem. Took the oldest to a birthday party at the treetop playground today and it was really cool. Located right next to Clayton High School, the treetop playground is really cool. They have some nice equipment and the whole playground is fenced in! So, if you have real little ones, they won't wander far. There is also a nice size pavilion that has two charcoal pits for grilling. read more

What's to say about this beautiful city park right on the edge of downtown Clayton? It is a small but exquisite get away from the city nearby. It has it's own rolling hills and little valleys and bike trails and picnic areas and a pavilion. This park has something for everyone even in the winter. Have you seen the kids slide down on snow sleds on the Parkside Dr end? The new elephant ear sculpture is a bit of an enigma - it makes the first timers go to it and read about it.. The sensory garden with the chimes, waterfalls and various plant arrangements is so peaceful. The kids play area looks really nice. The sand volleyball court is happening on most spring/summer evenings. Shaw Park is a really great place to run through, stretch or just sit on a bench and read a book or use the picnic areas to gather with friends for an outdoor party! read more

I end up here nearly every night after work with my husband trying to be healthy. It's a great little park to do some laps in and around. The grass and paths are extremely well maintained. Possibly the best all-around park in Saint Louis, with something for everyone. Except parking. The swimming pool is regularly rated as the cleanest pool with the best run programs; they have movies you can watch on your floaties and lifeguard competitions to check out. Sadly, not much shade. They need to fix that. The tennis complex is also highly rated among tennis facilities. The ice rink is struggling due to global warming, but there is no better activity for love struck teenagers who can't yet drive, but who want to hang out on a Friday night. The flower vase art between the swimming pool and the ice rink is called Molecular Bloom -- one atom represents "Art" , the other atom represents "Science"; the single flower inthe center represents the singular beauty of Clayton. Near the swimming pool is a geocache planted next to a picnic bench. It is very cleverly hidden, so download the geocache application and look for it. If you go in August, head for the nature walk at the basin of the sledding hill and hunt for monarch butterflies in the little prairie. You can also stack up the rocks in an "Andy Goldsworthy" type sculpture. If you go in Spring, check out the Sensory Garden and look for the ceramic egg, which little kids can ride. Pinch herbs to sniff and ring the wind chimes in the tunnel. Of course, the best thing about Shaw Park is the Adventure Playground, with pop-up water jets in summer, and a full fenced playground all year around. You can climb on the weird "Elephant with No Face" sculpture, but it is super slippery when wet. It's good for kids to take risks. Restroom facilities are open in all seasons except winter. Clayton really needs to consider keeping the restrooms open even in winter, because in order to be healthy kids still need to get outside to play. Kids can sled down the steep hill in winter, although a new water feature being installed in fall 2016, which may mess up winter sledding. Be sure to look for hawks and bats. As cities plant more natural shrubs and trees, more wildlife is moving in, which is a joy and a delight. There are four persimmon trees located near soccer field #3, and if you hunt on the ground for persimmons, you can find them in the fall, around the end of September or early October. As you can tell, I know this park well, and I love it. read more

This is a fantastic park in STL's Clayton neighborhood. What brought me here for this review was the Treetop Playground near the high school. There are a ton of slides. There are multiple playgrounds here designed for various different ages which is nice to have as a parent. More than this, there is plenty of green space, tennis courts, ball fields and pools in this park. This is one of the better maintained and most diverse parks in the metro area. read more

You can do basically anything here! Picnic, swim, diving boards, bike, jog, meditate, take your dogs out for a walk, nearby restaurants or bars if that's your thing. Only expensive if your doing a family outing here. Classy apartments/condominiums to browse and a very relaxed state of mind. Many bus and train stations to travel to and from. Perfect area to accompany with family or by yourself. read more
