Before moving out of state a few years ago, I had spent my whole life in this city and had never visited this park before yesterday. To be honest, the only reason I came to this park is because I was drawn to it by a Pokemon that I wanted to catch. However, I ended up staying for about an hour, walking and enjoying the grounds. It is a lovely park with a main trail/walkway around the grass, a nice enclosed playground near the parking lot area, a pretty little pond near the Clayton Road end, and memorial trees and plaques throughout. The position of the playground is perfect, as the noise from children's play was muted by the distance as I proceeded down the path. Some people had set up hammocks in the shady grasslands and were napping or reading, others were getting their daily workout while walking or running the park's trail. It was peaceful and beautiful.
The parking lot, which is accessible from Big Bend, approximately 1/2 mile or so from the Clayton intersection, had plenty of parking available for park patrons.
If you are a Pokemon Go player, it's worth the trip; they have a gym and a decent amount of Pokestops and Magikarp here. read more
