Carondelet Park is a jewel in the South City neighborhood of Carondelet. Beautiful winding road through trees that are kind of reminiscent of the layout of Forest Park. There's a "lake' with a fountain that is peaceful and there are plenty of spots to park and sit it take a walk and rejuvenate yourself. But the crown jewel is the YMCA right inside the park. It has exercise machines, 2 aquatic centers (the outdoor one is quite spectacular in the summertime), but the best is that I'd had comfortable places to lounge, work on your laptop, get free coffees and tea (like Parisian Blackberry) or hang out with people in the Senior Hub. read more

I love this park so much! I've mainly visited for the track on nice days when I just want to be outside to walk. The park has a huge pond (or lake) that has fish and ducks. I saw some people fishing which I guess is popular at this park. While I was walking on the track I was taking in the scenery and enjoying all the greenery and views. The park sits close to a neighborhood and I was just admiring the homes as I made my way around the track. I noticed they had places for horseshoe and other park activities, but things seem to be closed off right now due to COVID. People were staying distanced from one another and it was easy to walk around people if I needed to. This is a great park and I can't wait to visit it again on the next nice day we get in STL. read more

Went to see Midsummer Night's Dream as produced by the St Louis Shakespeare Festival in Carondelet Park. The show was fantastic. Regardless of how familiar you are with Shakespeare and old English, this show was great. The cast did a wonderful job of making sure that all could follow the action and dialogue. The body language, facial expressions, and creative but appropriate use of modern language and stage business did the trick. I cannot say enough about how good this production was. The show travelled from park to park and employed very little in terms of set and scenery. Didn't matter. It was their superb acting that put the show across. I really was impressed. Kudos to director Tre'von Griffith. I look forward to seeing more from him and this wonderful cast. The setting in Carondelet Park was perfect. The park is beautiful. read more

When I first moved to St. Louis I couldn't believe that parks like this existed. Carondelet park is ginormous. There are two or three huge ponds, that are all fully stocked with fish. So all your fishing needs can be met. There's so much beauty and wildlife there, I've seen foxes, bullfrogs, ducks, geese the list goes on and on. There are so many nooks and crannies to enjoy and explore and so many events to participate in. In the spring, summer and fall there is live music in the park on Sundays. Join the Facebook page to learn all the fun things that are happening like yoga, concerts, festivals It's a very active park nestled in the beautiful neighborhood of Holly Hills, that you can feel safe about being in. A very nice park to go take a stroll. Unfortunately due to covid i think most of any events that used to be there disappeared. But if it's dog walking, jogging, or cycling this is a nice place to do it. The downfall are some of the local crack heads that frequent the pavilions. We were sitting down to a picnic over the summer and someone stumbles up after a while, takes out a pipe and starts smoking right then and there. Not the best atmosphere to be out enjoying the sunshine. read more

Apparently the 3rd largest park in st. Louis, after Forest and Tower Grove. Im not sure what the distance around the perimeter is, i just walked around until i got my steps for the day. Its a lovely time of year. There are white flowers blooming everywhere that look like snow, and the bugs havent come out yet. Lots of interesting things to look at and the paths are varied enough (not all flat). I also appreciated how wide the trails were. It was easy to stay 6ft away from other park-goers. read more

I really love this park. It is a great size and has everything I want while being pretty close to home. I often ride my bike or run/walk on the loop trail (about 2 miles around the park) and it even links up to the River des Peres greenway so you can ride a nice long distance heading out right from the park. We often use the tennis courts here as well and there are barely ever other people on them. The racquet ball courts are considerably busier. Sometimes we head over to the park with the kiddo to play on the playground equipment, or just to enjoy the pond and fountain which is a wonderful outdoor area to enjoy and reflect. They also have some pavilion areas you can rent/use for get togethers, cookouts, etc. In the Spring there are a beautiful flowers and blooming trees all around. read more

I kept wondering what my family meant by "Crown-Doe-Let" Park, but I think it's where we used to go fly kites in St. Louis when I was tiny. After so many years of snobby California living, I kept wanting to correct them with "Ca-Ron-Doe-Lay," but I sure knew better. During my recent trip, I often found myself at, or near, this lovely Victorian park. My cousin recently bought a rehabbed townhouse nearby, and the park was en route to Ted Drewes Ice Cream. Carondelet Park made a lovely spot for an impromptu picnic for me and my kidlet, but I noted that it's a great site to rent pavillons for large events as well. Similar to Tower Grove Park, but with less hype. read more

Not much I can say about Carondelet Park. I've ran around here as a kid, sprained my left ankle at the play area. Not to mention, leaving a lot sweat, anger and stress on the trail. Over time, its become a part of me. Sometimes I just like to get out there and think. Be one with nature. Tap into my Zen and shit. When ppl ask me why I love the park so much, I tell them: "It's so granola, so wavy." lol Anyway, the scenery is beautiful. The trail is great for slopes, uphill stretches and plenty of shade for those sweltering, summer days. IMO, the best time to go is right after dawn to late afternoon. I try to avoid heavy trail traffic, but sometimes the reason(s) you're out there is bigger than that. Carondelet isn't my favorite park or trail, but I'm no less than a fan. read more

3 All Day! Simply because I go to the park to get my cardio in on the bike trail and this is more like a pet, baby, slow walkers & talkers trail. I recently moved and this park is close to home so I wanted to familiarize myself with the gorgeous park in my area. It is extremely diverse, has a nice pond with beautiful pavilions & play equipment for those of you with kiddos. Although there is a walking trail....people only seem to use the bike trail with hinders riders from performing at their peak. I am constantly saying "to your left" "your right" "excuse me" "oh pardon me". And thinking WTF move this is a bike trail your on buddy! Finally, after I was exhausting with fighting for the pavement I decides to exit the trail and hit the bike lane on the perimeter of the park. I try to let the drivers have the street as I realize bikers in traffic can be very annoying but this was a breath of fresh air! I'll be using the bike lane from here on. PSA: the bike lane is a short one but make an imaginary one and you'll be fine the rest of the way. Unfortunately, This park is just gonna have to work... this is sad because I am the dutchess of my awesome, extraordinary, trail etiquette, people friendly, gorgeous, 6 mile, superb FOREST PARK. I am starting with 3 stars because I have yet to explore the entire park. I will tell you that I am definitely leaning more towards a 4 based on what I have seen. It is a very beautiful park. I usually ride my bike around/through it when I trek along the River de Peres/Christy greenway. I love how all those interconnect and basically lead you to Carondelet. The bike/ped path is the circumference of the park - this is super cool. The trail is paved with lanes and in absolutely great shape. It is a nice and refreshing route around the park. I also see the crazy road cyclists training on the inner roads so they seem to enjoy riding the park perimeters as well. From what I can tell - everything looks great with this park. The playground and park equipment I have seen seems to be in good shape. I wanted to test the restrooms but alas...they were still locked for the winter. There is a beautiful pond with shade trees and benches nearby, which makes for a great time out place to rest. Great park! I am pretty confident that I will be upgrading my rating once I get to fully experience the park. Based on my fellow Yelper's reviews - it looks like a no-brainer! read more

Carondelet Park goes on the list of amazing city parks St. Louis has to offer. It's in an awesome south city neighborhood, it's large, and it has plenty of beautiful scenery for a nice walk/run. It's no Forest Park but it's a great alternative to change up your routine. Spice it up a little, know what I'm saying? My favorite feature of Carondelet is the boat house area with the small man-made lake in the middle. It's super unique. I mean, I know FP has a better one but still...pretty unique for a neighborhood park. You can pretty much always see people fishing or hanging out around the edge. It was a cold day so I'll be back when the weather is warmer. P.S. Make sure to stop by Ted Drewes on my way back. read more

This is great Saint Louis city park minus a couple of negatives. Positives: - Public fishing. People will bring their fishing poles and try their luck on catching some fish. - Beautiful historical pavillion that over looks the lake. - Tons of walking pathes and trails throughout the park. - Fun for people watching. Come on a Sunday afternoon and you will see people "LARPing" -- live action role playing with fake swords. - It' romantic to come take a stroll in the evening. Check out the mini gazebos down by the lake. Negatives: - They don't clean up the geese and duck poop enough around it. - It has a lot of trash that isn't cleaned up enough. - Too many one way streets that make it difficult to navigate through the park. I just attended the Concert in the Park Sunday series last night to see Cumberland Gap play. I live near this park and I have this assumption that they only book acts that the oldie moldies like, because that's all I ever see schlepping their folding lawn chairs across the street and into the park. However, it's pretty rad that they booked the Cumberland Gap band because even though it's bluegrass the band attracts a young crowd. I hope that they continue to book acts that all generations can enjoy. It was actually a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be. My mom and I got snow cones from the stand at Morganford and Loughborough and then poured flavored vodka and rum into them after we sat down. My dad enjoyed a personal cooler of beer and they had a hot dog and chip stand set up next to the bandstand. At first I thought we'd get crucifiable looks from the oldies but I saw some of them with magnum sized bottles of chardonnay so we were cool. I think this was the last or second to last event for the Sunday series, but I think they also have bands on Tuesdays and in a few weeks a Pig roast with participating local restaurants. Concerts in Carondelet seem like something that the kids could rally for and turn into a real draw, with good bands. Let's do it! Does anyone know who operates the concerts? read more

I was actually looking for the Carondelet Rec Plex (is it really not in here yet?) to review... because I LOVE it, but I guess it's for the best that I can't review it. Because then MORE people would go, and it would get busy and crowded, and I'd have to remove stars, and oh, how sad that would be. So I'll review the park instead. Not HUGE, and defintiely not in the caliber of Forest Park (there's not exactly a zoo or museums inside) but for a city park (and one I can walk to in all of two minutes) it ROCKS. It's a great place to run, walk, read a book (though this hasn't actually happened yet, so I can only imagine). I want to try out my new fishing pole there! (Yes, you can FISH there! and Yes, I have my own fishing pole, believe it or not.) There's lots of new trees, and I'm guessing lots of flowers that will bloom soon. As far as wildlife, there's no coyote like there is in Tower Grove Park, but I have seen a fox nearby, and tons of bunnies (Bunnies! In the city! I LOVE it!) in the 'hood, so I'm sure they're in the park, too. As for other stuff to look at... well, if you're in the park on a Sunday, make sure to check out the LARPers (as in Live Action Role Play). They're there every week, rain or shine, nerf swords 'n all. Gotta love it. Can't wait for the nicer weather... I think we'll have many a picnic there. read more

How have I lived in St. Louis for 26 years without visiting this park!?!? I hadn't even heard of it until last night! BAD Stephanie. Anyway, I finally visited Carondelet Park last night for a run. The park itself is HUGE, with lots of running trails and beautiful scenery to get lost in. There's also a huge pavilion with a gorgeous fountain. So pretty! I could totally see myself incorporating some of my longer runs in and around this park. So gorgeous! read more

This is our favorite park! We walk our pug dog here at least two times a day because we live right across the street. Early morning, mid day, late at night - always a good time in Carondelet Park. Being a female, I have never walked my dog alone in the park late at night, but with my guy I always feel safe. I have definitely been in this park after 11pm and it was all good. I think you can sometimes see questionable people in the park but this is STL City! Overall, it's a solid park that I feel safe in. t's huge and there are so many places to go. There is a big playground and several bridges/ponds. In the summer they have live music which I can hear from my house. It gets very packed! Oh and the baby duckies are out and about this week! Love them! The tennis courts are great - There are 3 in pretty good shape. read more

Oh, I do love this park. This is the third largest park in St. Louis and often, I feel like people forget how great this park is and how much it has to offer. Like many of the great city parks in St. Louis, this park has so many different things to offer. There's well lit softball and baseball fields, tennis courts that are very well maintained, a huge boathouse, and two massive lakes, both stocked with fish. (I have no idea what the fishing situation is here, but I'm telling you, the lakes are stocked.) The bike path through the park isn't incredibly long, but it does attach to the Holly Hills path if you want a longer ride. It's not the best maintained trail in the city either, but it's completely ridable and enjoyable if you are looking for a good city ride. Oh, and there's a ton of horseshoe pits. Fun family barbeque fun for the whole family awaits at this park. read more

Beautiful park, but I sent the email below on April 25 via the city park website, got confirmation that it was received but haven't received any response. I've checked my junk box, etc. I feel like I've been patient and waited long enough, maybe email got lost or just wasn't important enough for a response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, Can you tell me what the policy is regarding park workers driving heavy equipment next to joggers on the park path at Carondelet Park? In the past, whenever I am on the path, a worker mowing the grass close to the path would either move to another area or stop for me to pass. I always considered this courtesy similar to the one you or I would give to a pedestrian crossing the street if we were driving a car. Today at around 2:45pm, I was walking on the path and a man driving a large piece of equipment that looked like a tractor was coming towards me on the left side of the path. His tractor crossed over the yellow line into my lane. At no time did he move, stop or even attempt to slow down as we passed. We were in an area where he could have moved into the grass, but did not. I was shocked that he would drive a big piece of machinery so close when he had the option to move over. However, I don't know what the policy is for this. So maybe I am overreacting and next time need to just move off the path. I would appreciate some clarification on this so I informed on how I should handle this in the future. Thanks read more

Beautiful. Variety of tall, gorgeous trees. Two large ponds for fishing and relaxing views. My favorite thing about the park is the 1 and 2/3 mile paved trail that winds around the perimeter. Lovely homes facing the park all the way around. read more

It's CarondeLET. Don't let some new-fangled man bunned millennial correct you on this. It's been CarondeLET all of my 50 years. Having said that, it's a great park for riding your bike, walking or jogging but try to come on weekdays before 3pm to avoid the "with kids" crowd. Weekends are too crowded for my tastes. Too many people BBQing and sucking beer and all those kids. No way. Nice place to relax and recharge. Needs a makeover here and there. read more

Crondelet Park is by far one of the nicest parks in the city! with it's lakes, and endless green groves for relaxing or having a get together. there are plenty of open spaces for getting a ball game together or for throwing a frisbee around. on any given day of the week you will always find people fishing in the two lakes at the park, and its loaded with bike riders and hoards of people walking their dogs. They recently built a branch of the YMCA in the park which brings even more people to the already established park. Be sure to take a drive through the neighborhood bordering the edges of the park if you would like to see some incredibly beautiful old homes on the tree lined streets, Crondelet park is certainly a beautiful gem of a park in this awesome city of of ours! read more

Gorgeous, just gorgeous!! Our city is really lucky to have such great parks. Everywhere you look is just so pretty! There are walking trails all over! There are horse shoe and BBQ pits - what more could you ask for? The boathouse is a gorgeous building. Apparently they used to rent boats to people to go out on the lake and there was ice skating in the lake in the winter (no I am not recommending you try it). But all that stopped at some point. My hubby wants me to add the following: as a kid living in holly hills playing hooky at Carondelet park was fun. I pretty much know every inch of the park. Now going back as an adult, I see they have renovated it quite a bit since my childhood. Which is a good thing. The park is beautiful adding the fountain to the boathouse lake really makes it even more beautiful! Yes, there are a lot of one way streets but that adds to its charm. When I was growing up if my dad couldn't find me, all he had to do was drive to this park and he would find me with my fishing pole and a huge basket of fish (yes we ate them all). On the corner there is a church whose bells sound so nice. They used to have carp and catfish in the lake but now they have bass and crappie. This park is a great place to go and enjoy nature!! read more

This is a wonderful little park. The park is plenty big enough and has great open spaces for playing frisbee, trails for running, and plenty of wonderful scenery. The surrounding neighborhood is full of BEAUTIFUL homes 100 years old or even older. Absolutely gorgeous!. read more

I love this park the favorite its free and if you have kids they will love it and also you can take nature strolls.

For those on the south side of st.louis this was the usual place where as a child if you played softball or soccer for any of the catholic schools (sorry my only frame of reference because i went to them) this was the place that you usually played (or i did anyway). As a child i just loved comming to this park to just explore any of the places i could go when my parents played here too. Past the ball feilds on the edge of the park there is more to offer a two ponds to fish and many different places to picnic. Also, i remember there was a bandstand that they had some bands come to (not sure if they still do). On top of that the neighborhoods around have some of the most beautiful houses that i have always admired. Another place i remember well when i went there for girl scouts day camp was the bear pit, not quite what you wouold expect and no there are not animals still there but its something everyone should see when going into the park. read more
