As a child I went to this work to enjoy the holiday lights. Would love to return in the winter at night or just on a nice day.

I am fortunate to live across the street from this urban oasis. It has a good mix of open and private areas.

We went specifically to see the Flags of Valor. This was the first time we had seen them. We ended up going on the last day and there were a lot of people there. We finally found a place to park and walked back to the flags It was extremely moving and impressive. It was explained to me that the flags are there every five years. It's not always the same display - different groups from September 11 are featured so there are a different number of flags. There are dog tags and photos on the flag poles. There are notes people have written. This year there were 7,650 flags. They're all in perfect lines. The flags this year honored every life lost in the War on Terror - the victims, the first responders of 9/11, and those that who have since succumbed to related illnesses or PTSD. I'm so glad I heard about it and that we were able to go.

It is so comparative to Central Park in Manhattan in terms of grandeur and liveliness. I don't know if you could walk Forest Park in a day and feel like you saw everything because it winds around and there are smaller trailers that pop in and out of nowhere. Surprisingly, I do not think the city takes care of the park, but an established group called Forest Park Forever, whose history starts back in the 60s, or 80s? They are a group of volunteers who tend to the park - every part of it, in every season, and really beautify it! There is security on patrol often enough so it's not too isolating and scary. There are parking lots closer to the main attractions. There is also street parking here, which adds to it being active but a park you can drive through, bike, and walk.

It has the gorgeous lake, many winding walking paths, beautiful historic buildings, and, of course, the famous swan, Sofia. She's my favorite. Here's a fun fact: Lafayette Park is considered the oldest developed urban park west of the Mississippi. The land was originally part of the St. Louis Common, where people could graze livestock and gather firewood, before it became a public park. It even survived a devastating tornado in 1896. Today, you can stroll through the park, admire the historic iron fencing and statues, watch the water, or simply sit around pretending you don't have 37 things to do. The location is perfect. You're surrounded by the Lafayette Square neighborhood, with restaurants, and coffee shops. Make a day of it: coffee, a walk, lunch, a little shopping, another walk because you ate too much, and dinner somewhere nearby. There are plenty spot to explore.

A gorgeous bridge and plenty of beautiful things to see. We took our engagement photos here and also enjoyed coffee together the morning of our wedding, so it has so much meaning to us. I've been here twice with my small pug, and it's a fantastic experience every time. The small dog park here is a standout--it seems to have more dogs compared to KC, which is great for socializing smaller pups. Even though my pug is shy and not always the friendliest, the layout and staff's care help him feel at ease and build his confidence. The vibe is just as fun as KC, with excellent food and drinks to enjoy while your dog plays. After my visits to both locations, getting the membership was a no-brainer. Whether you're in St. Louis or Kansas City, Bar K is an absolute must for dog lovers!

The staff are amazing. There are dog-tenders, staff that watch the off-leash dogs to ensure everyone is getting along. Throughout the park are covered picnic tables, storage containers converted into lounge areas and bars. Scan a barcode to order drinks and have them delivered to you. There is also a covered patio for food and drinks that is dog-on-leash friendly and an indoor climate controlled restaurant where no dogs are allowed. The dog play area dominates the facility with stray tennis balls, kiddie pools, a super, big mound, a play fountain, and lots of dog bowls with water. All the dogs are playing well together, under the care of dog-tenders and owners alike. I only wish these existed where we live.
