I wouldn't give Samual Carrino, Summer, and Yvonne anything less then 5 stars. I started seeing Dr. Carrino about 3 months ago before my first visit with him I could hardly walk, let alone stand up straight and the pain was unbelievable. I had done all the exams, X-ray, and bone scans. All to fine out that I had out fracture in my back, spacing in the disc and degenerative bone disease. From my first doctors appointment to the soonest I could be seen by a back Specialist was 5 month. This was unacceptable! So, I called Shasta Spine Specialists and Summer at the front desk had made me an appointment within a couple of day. Upon first exam , I couldn't believe that I had waited so long to feel that relief. I could stand up a little straighter, and to have the back pain seemingly flush from my body was intense. I'm still seeing Dr. Carrino every Monday and couldn't feel much better thanks to him and the ladies. My daughter is also see the doc. for pain caused by curvature of the spine. He has been able to relieve a little of her pain as well. And, my wife is also a patient , being seen for neck pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. He has been able to help her with nerve pain , tingling and numbness. I would say if you are having any headaches, back pain, nerve pain or yes ever carpal tunnel syndrome, then , you should give this group a call and schedule an appointment. You will be happy you did! In a word (or rather 2 words)...STAY AWAY! This is the first time I've ever written a review on a medical professional. Let me just say that after seeing Dr. Carrino of Shasta Spine on Hartnell for over 10 visits, I am in worse condition than I was when I first came to him. Not to mention that he's the most expensive chiropractor I've ever been to in my over 30 years of going to chiropractors. I was told my first initial visit/exam would be $90.00. After my first visit I was charged $130.00. When I asked why it was so much more, I was told it was because he did "extra stuff". I don't know what extra stuff he did, but as the first visit went relatively well, I scheduled several more visits. Now, VERY long story short: I am in the worst condition I've ever been (chiropractically speaking) than I've ever been in my life. I now have symptoms I've never had before, including constant tingling and numbness in my foot with intermittent numbness and tingling in other areas, and severe low back pain, among other symptoms. In my opinion, Dr Carrino is a basic "whack-em-crack-em" who puts up a good front initially. He is a likeable guy who talks a good talk and he offers a lot various, over priced therapies. I get the feeling he is educated enough to actually be able to help, but he lacks compassion. His adjustments are very rough... I'm surprised he didn't crack a rib. When I asked for an ice pack, they acted pleased with themselves that they were going to give me one for free. (Their ice packs are a Ziplock baggie with a few ice cubes in it. I was not told the price of any therapies or "extras" up front). I can't prove it, but I suspect that he did things to make me worse in order to keep me coming in. Also, he kept asking me how I wanted to be adjusted. He's the chiropractor...shouldn't he know what to do? However, I made some suggestions based on my past experience, which he continually ignored. The best thing about Shasta Spine Specialists is Summer, the receptionist. Finally, after about a dozen visits to Dr Carrino, I can whole-heartedly say that I do NOT recommend him to anyone. In fact, I would suggest that you run from him like your health depends on it...because in truth, it does. P.S. I'm not, but if you're allergic to or afraid of dogs, know that he has them in the office all the time, and they come right up to you. Very unprofessional, in my opinion. I could go into MUCH more detail, but I respect your time, so using single word adjectives: Uncaring. Rough. Unprofessional. Arrogant. Deceptive. EXPENSIVE. I suspect that any positive reviews of Dr Carrino of Shasta Spine on Hartnell Ave are either mistakes, as there are other chiropractors in the area with similar names; OR from patients who were seen by one of the other 2 chiropractors that WERE a part of Dr Carrino's office (the positive reviews are much older); OR were patients who went through the DRX9000 program. I came to Shasta Spine Specialists because it hurt to walk. My leg had nerve pain starting at my hip and heading all the way to my knee. Dr. Carrino and his staff showed me what could be causing my pain with an in-depth assessment. After 4 adjustments, my walk was back to normal and my neck could rotate more than it has in years. Free consultation my eye!! Owner went on my wife's FB post and said I could come in for a "Free Consultation" which according to them at some point changed to an exam which they charged us for. What a scam! Wife called after getting this bill and he said that he told us at some point that it was now an exam. Really? Neither of us remember that. I moved my arm around a little bit and told him where it hurt and now we have a bill for over $115. This is very unfortunate because I would have gone back but not after I feel like I was lied to. It's a cheap thing to do. We will of course pay this bill and take it on the chin but they lost my business for sure. read more

I saw medical doctors including an orthopedist about my rotator cuff problem. On each visit the doctor would spend about 2 minutes (I am being generous) checking range of motion. Over 18 months all they offered was cortisone shots, which didn't work. Finally I followed the recommendation to go to Dr. Carrino. My first appointment lasted 2 hours not because I waited but because he was so thorough. I had a separate 30 minute appointment just to examine my shoulder. He isolated motions that were frozen and after 3 months of electrical stimulation combined with ultrasound treatment, motion began to be restored and with some physical therapy I now have use of my arm again almost pain free. I had a great experience with Shasta spine specialist. It was like medicine should be back in the good old days. You feel like a human not just a number. I suffered with excruciating back pain for years. It wasn't until I had to DRX that I was able to start to feel relief. His warm and friendly staff welcome you with a smile and the Dr. goes out of his way to make everyone feel at home. There out there excellent chiropractic people or businesses in this field, but you do not want to go there for two main reasons. The main one is that he will offer you other special treatments that your Insurance will not approve of. But he will not let you know that. after your treatment is over and he gets all the money allowed by the Insurance Co. Thinking your case is closed, well legally it is, but far from it! Think again, He will turn around to try to collect from you those "special treatments" that he promised the Insurance will pay . The worst is that he will let time passed by a few months or up to two years then collect. Don't pay them then you will be in collection!! Scam artist!. read more

Sometimes you get to a place in life that you need to go against what "others" have adviced you not to do. With that said...I had back surgeries in the 80's, had motorcycle accident in the 90's and neck surgery in the early 2000's. Lots of metal and fusion's. "They" told me not to go to a Chiropractor. Well, I saw an ad on TV (which DR. hasn't had ads on TV for years!) and called right away. Been going 3 days a week for a month now and I feel better! Feel stronger and straighter.
