Eh. This place was just OK. We went right when they started opening up the restaurants after Covid so the outdoor seating was helpful and eased our concerns. We were told up front that the wait staff wasn't really wait staff they were kitchen people who were helping out for the day. The service was just fine. The food well, I'm not sure if it was a limited menu because it was during Covid or what but it was a very very limited menu. I think we got a pizza I can't even remember it was that forgettable. The wine wasn't that great either but the ambience was excellent. This review is coming off somewhat negative and I don't mean for it to come across that way. I Definitely would give this place another try but I would go into it with lower expectations. I am grateful, very grateful that they opened up as early as they did and gave us a place to go.

I went here this past weekend with my parents. We were looking for something to do that would be relaxing, and being new to the area from California it seemed like a good choice. The drive from reminderville was really nice too! While I'm not a big wine lover, my parents are. I don't like reds or anything really dry so I tried the few sweet ones that were available. They were eloquence, discretion and defiance (did I mention they are all named after virtues?? Cool!). The defiance was my favorite (my mother said that was fitting lol), it was a rosė blush and soooo good! My parents said the ones they tried were all good with one exception but I don't recall which that was unfortunately. Tastings were .50 each and glasses were $5 I believe. We also got a cheese plate, and I ordered the meatball soup, can't remember the exact name. The cheese plate was pretty basic, the soup was actually really good but just a little bit salty. But not too much that I didn't enjoy it! The girls working were nice and helpful, service was good. It was pretty empty when we arrived but got busier by the time we left. The set-up was fine, tastings and food orders placed at the bar and they bring your food to your table. There's also a back room, like an enclosed patio and an outside patio as well. We would definitely go back!

The food and wine was really good. I was surprised by the nice selection of both wine & food!

So she chose the Christmas lights of Chagrin Falls and "Odd Fellows Restaurant" which looks out on the Gazebo and all the lights of the square. We arrived at the restaurant and immediately were seated at a comfortable table in the center of the room by a very professional young woman. Very shortly after, the sweetest, most bubbly young lady greeted us and introduced herself as Bianca, our server for the evening. I can't say enough about Bianca. She was absolutely extraordinary. Friendly is an understatement. She had a beautiful smile that never left her face. She was so personable you could not help but feel comfortable in her care for the evening. Throughout the 2+ hours we were in her hands she just kept getting more impressive. If you decide to give "Odd Fellows" a try you would be doing yourself a great service by requesting her as your server for the evening when you make your reservation. Our initial order included refreshing drinks from the bar along with great crusty bread and excellent "Roasted red pepper soup". Very nicely done. We followed that with our entrees. I ordered the "Sesame Tuna" which was very nicely prepared. My wife and sister-in-law had the "Walleye" and they loved it. My brother enjoyed the "Shrimp Bucatini". I must say the kitchen did an exemplary job all evening... Kudos to the entire kitchen staff. We followed dinner with excellent coffee and very nicely presented desserts. A marvelous finish to a marvelous evening at "Odd Fellows". I give them my highest recommendation and encourage you to give them a try. Don't forget to request Bianca -- she is the cherry on top.

Started off with bread that came with a great garlic butter. Wish the bread had come out warm but it was good. I had a Caesar salad with shrimp for dinner which was great, filling but still light and the shrimp were fantastic, nice and big and very flavorful. We also ordered Brussels sprouts, fries and "onion rings" for the table. The Brussels were fantastic, probably my best bite of the night. I also really loved the fries, they had the perfect amount of salt which I always appreciate. The onions rings were very good, but I would call them more of onion straws so just be sure you know what you're getting if you grab those. Others at my table enjoyed the burger a lot, as well as the shrimp pasta. A lovely holiday experience overall!

I stood at the bar for 30 minutes waiting for a drink a few visits ago while the bartenders took shots with other guests and got absolutely trashed while I was waiting to be served to the point that other patrons at the bar were asking me if I needed them to get the bartenders attention to make my drink, meanwhile the staff was avoiding eye contact and refusing to acknowledge me. tonight at 9:30 they came up to my table and told us it was last call (according to google this bar closes at 12) and brought us our checks. we paid cash and they didn't bring us change- assuming you're getting tipped 66% on a table you refused to wait on is insane and I had to go inside and ask for both mine and my sisters change where I was met with eye rolls and dirty looks from the girl with the braid who had been giving us dirty looks all night. this bar is convenient for me and my sister to meet and catch up each week and to be met with such blatant disrespect is beyond disappointing. closing the bar early so you can have a private party with your friends is not an acceptable reason to kick other patrons out and it has happened times before. we will not be returning, which is disappointing to both of us.

The decor inside was elegant and calming. I love how they kept a lot of the history of the building itself and tied the history into the decor; beautifully done. We sat outside on a half booth half table and enjoyed the weather. Our waitress was so sweet ! She had the biggest smile and was so sweet with the kids. I got the blueberry mojito and my husband got a draft Garage beer. They were both great. Next we got the calamari which was fabulous ! Home made breading and sauce. Even the kids were all for it . We also received some complimentary bread and their specialty butter . The home made butter had a bit of savory to it and was in a league entirely of its own. I think it was a roasted red pepper blend. This complimented the red pepper but it was very tastefully done with how much was added . It was just right. My husband got their signature "Square Bistro burger " as it comes and he said it was great and really enjoyed the special sauce. He said next time he's going to ask for more of that sauce on the side that's how much he liked it. The kids both got the Mac n cheese and finished as much as much as they could ! Definitely a good pic for them. I appreciate the kids menu crayons and several options for them to choose from including a kids sushi roll! For my dinner I ordered the crab salad maki which was really amazing. The rice was perfect . Everything in the roll was extremely fresh and the crab salad itself was exceptional with the sauce they made it with. The eel sauce on top had the perfect amount of sweetness. The Tobiko Nigiri was well balanced and fresh. The miso soup really stole the show for me on all levels. I usually order miso soup everywhere we go and this was by far one of the best I have ever had. The tofu was home Made you could tell it had a wow factor and was extremely delicious. The miso broth itself was also nothing less than exceptional with the flavoring. It had to be made from scratch . It was fabulous. We will definitely be coming back and we will surely recommend it to family and friends. Thanks for having us and creating a great dinner experience in Chardon square !

The staff works really well together to deliver timely service from the moment you sit down. The servers are well-versed in knowledge of the menu and making suggestions to accommodate requests! For the food- for starters, the bread and compound butter are absolutely incredible and fresh. The duck flatbread is full of unique and cohesive flavors! I ordered the Korean bbq steak and my goodness, that did not disappoint. I will say as a suggestion, the Brussels sprouts would be better on the side and crisped up a little bit versus mixed in with the potatoes. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and the flavor of the entire dish was wonderful. Also ordered at my table were various sushi rolls which were all presented beautifully and had flavor to match. The ramen bowl boasted a bold broth with perfectly cooked noodles. The dessert was not quite what I pictured in my mind, I ordered the chocolate raspberry cheesecake and I was thinking it was going to be a vanilla cheesecake with chocolate and raspberry swirls but it is actually a chocolate cheesecake. Personally it was a little dense for me but still very tasty! The drinks were tasty and well thought-out and the bartenders are very good at their job! Overall was a wonderful dining experience. Would definitely recommend!

An absolutely fantastic visit today…read more Our daughter is moving out of town, and for her "going-away" dinner she wanted one more visit to Cru. What a wonderful choice it turned out to be. From beginning to end, this was truly a remarkable dining experience. Every time we visit, it seems like both the food and the service continue to get even better. We had reserved a table on the outdoor patio and were seated promptly. We absolutely love the patio--its ambiance is second to none and, in our opinion, it's one of the best outdoor dining spaces in the city. This time, we decided to keep things light and ordered a selection of appetizers, a cheese board, and desserts. Since the menu changes four times a year, there's little point in listing every dish, as they'll likely be different by the time someone reads this review. A huge compliment goes to the entire kitchen staff. Every appetizer was beautifully prepared, and they even made a special zucchini blossom for our daughter, which was a wonderful surprise. A special thank you also goes to the pastry chef. The three desserts were outstanding, and the personal touch of writing "Good Luck in Chicago" in chocolate on one of the dessert plates made the evening even more memorable. We also want to recognize both sommeliers. During a previous visit, one of them had prepared an incredible house-made bar nut mix that we still talk about. We asked whether it was still available, and although he explained it was no longer on the menu, he went out of his way to prepare it for us on the spot. Our daughter absolutely loved it. Our second sommelier (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was equally wonderful. She took the time to recommend several excellent Pinot Grigios after my daughter asked for suggestions, and her knowledge and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our server, Julie, who provided warm, attentive, and professional service throughout the evening. She helped make an already special occasion even more enjoyable. As we were leaving, my daughter summed it up perfectly: "This was probably my favorite visit out of all the times we've been here." For a restaurant we've enjoyed many times over the years, that's about the highest compliment we could give. Thank you to everyone at Cru for making our daughter's farewell dinner so memorable. We wish you continued success and can't wait for our next visit.

Until now a nice quiet place to unwind after a LONG week of work (doing cancer research) . Recently I found that mixing their bbq and chunk garlic is a fantastic flavor profile. I've even gotten it for others and they all love it too! Long story short is that the owners have decided that they refuse to allow this combo -PERIOD! I can't buy them some garlic nor am I allowed to bring any in (which I get). BUT seriously- wtf ! You'd think they would want to at least be a little flexible given the number of patrons at minimum (5 on a Friday at 7-8:00pm - see pic). Not to mention that they won't even consider giving it a try on the menu. HARD NO!! I try to patronize these little places to help keep momentum on their side but this sort of attitude just rubs me the wrong way. Just let me get it on the side even (I offered to pay extra). Again - HARD NO! At this point this is too much for me to swallow. I never give them any trouble about anything and always tip at least 20%. WHY is all I ask! Just to BE the BOSS I suppose! So, don't come to Madricks Tavern if you don't like it the way they like it. If you do - God bless you, but I'm not gonna be coming here as often if ever & I plan to share this story with all my friends. Not because it's the end of the world or anything (although that might not be far away ) but it's just such a simple thing that burns my a*s!!
