If I could give the Perry Highway Sharkeys a -5 I would. The stylists in the past have always been kind and given my little one nice cuts and been warm and patient with her. However, for the second time we arrived 8-10 mins late to her appt due to me needing to pause bc I have diabetes and can't drive with a low sugar. Both times the male manager greeted us with contempt instead of professionalism and when I asked if there was a way to just have her bangs trimmed I was cut off and told I'd have to wait over an hour even though two stylists were there with no clients. My child is half Asian and the sneering attitude from the particular person is markedly different from how he treats caucasian children there. If you don't have a blonde, white kid I suggest you try the other location or somewhere else. we were fortunate to get a better cut down the road at Harmony salon for half the price and zero the racism/ negative energy. read more

We booked our appointment at 5:20 pm on 09/20/25 for my daughter with Stylist Jennifer. We got text that Jennifer was sick and given another stylist Danyell. We Ok'ed it but also requested for the stylist who handles the girls who doesn't like haircut. The lady who sent text confirmed it. We got another text around 3:30 that our appointment was moved to 5:30. We got there around 5:15 pm. And Danyell was cutting other kid and done with him around 5:40 pm. Danyell asked few questions and started prepping my daughter who is discouraging us and stylist for cut. Finally Danyell was ready to cut where my daughter is sitting but by then she was telling us she would not able to complete the job even before start and giving us various explanations and keep on saying ' i can explain' several times. Stylist and Asst. Manger wanted to wrap and push us out. I asked them why they are saying not to finish her hair cut. There were 3 -4 team members are there but none is trying to do anything get this haircut complete. Everyone is waiting close the operation for the day. Danyell asked us to come another day. I declined. We drove 1 hr 15 min to get this done at this place. Sharkey's team is able give additional time for other people who were squeezed before us. And able to check several times to do the work according to their satisfaction. I have read other comments about other Sharky's locations too. I have seen similar ones against non-locals. Few of my observations at this location. 1) Asst.Manager at the location do not welcome guests or atleast us 2) She overbooked someone before us earlier the day of appointment and moved us 10 min after original appointment. Update came around 3:30 3) Throughout the appointment Danyell and Asst. Manager behavior is very weird. They love to defend themselves than doing the job they signed up for. 4) Asst. Manger has no clue what her role is and no-one even apologized from Sharkys today. 5) They were acting like we did something wrong and our ask was not fair. Finally with everyone arguments my daughter is done, exhausted after crying for the day and we left without a cut. 6) I sincerely advise the management to keep specific signs what kind of people they will accept. With political stigma everyone is doing what they want to without any wrong doing from their side. Asst manager and Danyell have really don't care attitude. I had scheduled appointments for my 2 year old twin boys for a cut at 5p & 5:15p. We were running a few minutes behind, because they're toddlers & the after work traffic. At 5:06, we received a phone call (from the manager?) asking if we were still coming. I said yes & that we were 2 minutes away & apologized for the delay. We arrived & buckled one of our twins in the chair as we chose something for him to watch during his cut. At this time, I believe it was the same man who called had walked out of the back room & right up to us reeking of cigarettes. He said "I'll only be able to take one of you now because you were late." I said your door states you take walk ins & there isn't anyone waiting in line. He said yeah I can't take both of you. The poor stylist stood there shocked & I apologized to her because she would be losing money because of his decision, but we weren't going to get just one child cut. I also stated that this was bullshit because he should have said this on the phone when he called instead of waiting for us to get there, out of the carseats & in the chair. I also told him that we had been there multiple times before & each time we had to wait well over our scheduled appt time to get cut, the last time being 20+ minutes after our scheduled time. First, I admit we were in the wrong being late & I should have called, but never once when we had been there had our appointments ever started on time or close to it. But if you're running a child-centered establishment you have to account for the fact that toddlers have a mind of their own, throw tantrums & don't make it easy to be right on time for anything. Be considerate & tell the parent right away on the phone that you cannot take both of them, not once they're in the chair ready to go. We would've cancelled both appointments on the phone & gone elsewhere. Common sense, but if you're going to smoke cigarettes it's best to not be in peoples faces reeking like it especially when you're around children. read more

I cannot figure out how this place doesn't have 5 stars across the board. They are amazing with kids. My son cannot stand to get his hair cut and they are so patient and fast. And for girls, it can't be beat! Nails painted, a ring, hair cut and a fun style. My girls ask to come here weekly. Sometimes it's goofy to book online, so I generally call. The quality at this place has really gone downhill. We've had multiple bad haircuts here but the one my son got last night was especially awful. It looks like the stylist was drunk when she cut his bangs, they are so uneven it's unfixable. She even cut my kid's neck pretty bad with the razor, he has a pretty large and deep cut. The service you pay for when you go is a cut, wash and style for little boys and he came home covered in hair, there was clearly no hair wash and it looked like she just tried to brush his bangs to the side to hide the terrible job she did. I called to talk to the manager and left a message, I've gotten no call back. He has photos tomorrow at school and what a memory we will have of the LAST time we will ever be going to Sharkey's. We've been going to Sharkey's in Robinson for years now but I have never written a review. Whenever we go this place is always busy, so an appointment is a must! My daughter (now 8) graduated from the fun car chairs for awhile now, but she still loves coming back. She gets to watch her favorite shows while Kristen cuts her hair. Kristen is the best. She takes time with my daughter (and me) to agree on a cut that we can all live with. She has great suggestions and always does a really nice job. Added bonus- they wash her hair (so I don't have to) and they do a quick nail polish application (which she loves)! She's happy because she still gets a balloon and a toy when we're done. read more

My first experience at Sharkey's was exceptional! I booked our appointment online which was an easy process. When we arrived, we were immediately shown back to our chair with no wait. My husband and I were dreading this hair appointment as we were expecting our 18 month old daughter to have a meltdown at the salon. However, she did the opposite, quietly sitting in her chair until the end. Though I do believe that bringing our personal iPad with her favorite show helped quite a bit, the kid-friendly environment, the fun little car salon chair, and our great stylist was really the reason why we didn't embarrass ourselves in public. We selected the first haircut package that came with a little certificate, photograph, lock of hair, balloon, and treasure. Though the price tag ($30, I think?) might seem steep to some, I was overall pleased with the services. They did get a really cute photo of my daughter and I do wish that I had a digital copy, not just the paper. Unfortunately, our experiences got less & less impressive.. Every time we would go, it was like they were seeing us for the first time all over again. I understand you can't remember every face & my baby is no one special to them but at least put how you cut his hair in the computer so I don't have to attempt to describe it.. Monthly.. And, the haircuts weren't as good as the first time. They were never short enough and for a while I kept bringing him back but I won't anymore. Still great for a first haircut but the older they get - look elsewhere.. Especially for boys with fast growing hair like mine! ------- Took my 10 month old today for his first haircut.. We took our son (who has autism) to a couple of random salons for his first few haircuts, but after discovering Sharkey's, we'll never take him anywhere else. They're completely specialized in giving children a fun haircut experience. We always go to Ashley W. because she's amazing with our son. She even keeps a hair profile for him that has where his cowlicks are and other little details about his hair, which is a nice personal touch. Great place for kids cuts. At 3 yrs old my kid acts like he's being scalped during haircuts. Completely freaks out. The staff at Sharkey's are able to settle his crazed butt and also give him the cutest hair cuts. How they do it? I don't know. I'm convinced they're some sort of wizards and are using magic on my kid. Or maybe it's the cars that the kids sit in during the cut and distraction methods they use like paw patrol videos. They definitely know what they're doing when it comes to children's haircuts. I took my 10 month old son to get his first professional haircut recently because I couldn't stand the mullet that was forming. The hairdresser was quick and very precise despite his meltdown and constantly turning head. We opted for a fohawk which could look good styled or left alone. The haircut lasted probably less than 5 minutes but everything was even and clean cut! My only complaint was during the hair cutting process, there was hair all over his face, hands, and clothes. While I saw the lint pick up roller in the front which I used for his clothes, I was disappointed that they didn't clean his face up or at least offer us a wet towel to clean him up. I ended up using the wipes in his diaper bag to clean his face up before leaving. I saw other hair dressers using wet towels for the other kids so maybe our stylist left my son alone b/c he was doing that hyperventilating type of crying...but getting offered a wipe/towel would have been appreciated. Other than that, I didn't have any other issues about the place. The haircut cost $18 which was totally worth it. We even bought some kid-friendly styling gel which should last us years, since you only need a tiny bit. read more

They consulted with us and gave us some guidance (which I am glad we did because if they listened to me my son literally would have had a mullet hahaha)! New to the area and first time here. Yelp said walk-in welcome but they are definitely more appointment preferred. They seemed stressed about fitting us in but were really nice and made it happen. I was just looking for a cut but they do more of a package. My daughter is still scared of getting her haircut so it really helped her that she got to get her nails done. They also far exceeded my expectations on the styling. The braids were so cute. Kids also get a toy and balloon so well worth the $25. I don't wait that long at the pediatrician! Kids are not that patient and it messes up my plans for rest of the day. This is a great concept but I believe if it was ran better that they may be more successful. Twice now I have tried to take my toddler there without an appointment. They clearly advertise " walk ins welcome". I completely understand not being able to get in right away or even that day when I choose to walk in. That being said, both times I have stood there for at least 20 minutes without even so much as a nod of someone's head. Both times I was then told " sorry we can't take you today , we are booked". Seriously? I have made appointments in the past and am generally pleased. All I'm asking is get more staff either to answer the phone or simply greet someone when they walk in. So basically what Im saying is get rid of the walk in service or at least acknowledge your customers before you make them stand there with a toddler , only to be told you are booked.
