I love this place, it's never busy, but the food is so dang good! They prepare it when you order so it's always hot and fresh. The restaurant is always clean too, even the restrooms. Now, granted this is only our first time here, so we will have to test it out again before we truly switch. However, this was THE BEST Mexican we have ever had. Sever was a sweet older gentleman who referred to my husband as friend and was just the right amount of attentive. Sala was a slow heat, meat was wonderfully marinated and cooked to perfection, handmade chips for the tortaco nachos and the taco salad shell was so crispy and flaky! The price to us was fair for the portion and quality of the food. Try it for yourself! For reference, we ate around 6:30pm on a Sunday night.

If you're looking for a true small-town, southern spot, Jim's Family Restaurant in Somerville is…read morejust that. Nothing fancy, nothing over the top--just good food and friendly folks. We stopped in on a Sunday right around the church crowd rush, and the place was packed. Lots of people were lined up for the buffet, but even with a party of seven, we were seated fairly quickly. Our server was the sweetest southern lady, complete with a warm smile and southern drawl. She made sure everyone in our group was taken care of and couldn't have been kinder. I had breakfast, and while it was definitely a little more "southern-style" than what I'm used to, it was good and filling. Prices were very reasonable, which made the whole experience even better. A couple of notes: they only accept cash (no cards), and the parking lot is on the smaller side. Inside, it's simple--tables, chairs, a working kitchen, and the kind of atmosphere where you're bound to run into someone you know. Overall, it's exactly what you'd expect from a small-town family restaurant--local food, local people, and a welcoming southern vibe.

Breakfast items are pretty good. But aside from burgers the lunch/dinner menu is pretty bland. Nothing really stands out or has a lot of flavor. The main issue is a smell of sewage near the bathrooms. There is no visible issue but the smell is there nonetheless. Also, the bathrooms are so tight you can barely even get into them. As a parent, if you need to assist your child with a potty break you'd be better off running across the street to the Ingles grocery store. Because it would be an impossible feat here at Jim's.

For example they have a streak dinner with a very low budget, high fat steak, which is never served the way you requested it be cooked. But, they charge the same price at a mid ranking steakhouse like Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse. The quality is more like that of a Waffle House steak. The portions are also extremely small. It's absolutely robbing their customer. Candy the owner knows full well the quality is undeserving of the price she charges. It must be stated also that this is NOT a one off! It's always poor quality at a high price.

Located in a neat downtown area with several other restaurants and some boutique style shops. Since it was a Monday evening many of them were closed. I decided to try Bigfoot's Peanut Butter and Bacon Burger (Grilled half pound angus burger topped with bacon and your choice of cheese. The peanut butter comes on the bottom bun for the added kick of flovor!). Other than being very messy, which I had to request extra napkins for (it appears that normally that they have paper towel rolls spaced around the bar top but was not near me), it was really good. The patty was cooked medium well and all the ingredients were tasty. Because of the mess I would probably not get it again. But that is the only reason. The tots were perfectly crispy outside and soft inside. It was not super crowded and other than having to ask for extra napkins, bartender was attentive. In addition to the bar top there are some tables as well. If I was back in the area would have no problems with returning and trying another burger, their prize winning wings or the "IDK What I Want" Sampler of 3 of their starter options.

I was giving her and she asked me is everything OK? I asked her where is the other half of my sandwich she looked at it. And replied " well I don't know. I wondered why they only gave you half a sandwich, but it does have 3 pieces of bread in it." At this point another waitress came over the first waitress asked why did they give him a half a sandwich? The second waitress replied I just think that's how they're doing things now. The first waitress that asked me, would you like the rest of your sandwich?? I replied yes that would be great So off to the kitchen, she went and 15 minutes later comes my other half Apparently, this is their way of saving money.
