What a pleasant surprise! In Rifle on business for a few days and the owner of the motel I'm staying at recommended this place. After a trip to Rifle Falls State Park I stopped at Shanghai Garden for an early dinner. The wait staff was awesome, very attentive and helpful. Very prompt with beverage refills. I enjoyed hot and sour soup, and it's among the best I've ever had anywhere. The cream cheese wontons were very good, too. But the icing on the cake, so to speak, was the orange beef. I'm a big fan of orange beef and have tried it at restaurants all over the world. Shanghai Garden's orange beef is the BEST I'VE EVER HAD. The beef was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. This is a very hard dish to prepare correctly. Previously, the best I had ever had was in New York City at a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant off Broadway. And theirs was tangerine beef, but close enough for comparison. I would definitely go back and I highly recommend this great little gem in Rifle, Colorado. read more

food was terrible this time. I order frequently as I can't drive. Sweer and sour pork was so over cooked and tough you could not pierce with a fork. Breading was terrible and tasted stale. Fried zucchini had a different breading. It heavy like corn meal and tasted stale or like it was cooked in old oil that had a fishy taste. Very disappointed! read more

Food is very good, and they're always very friendly! When you order carry out, if you order enough, they often give you something free like egg rolls or a free soup which is nice! They're fast, it's always 10 to 15 minutes for carry out. I've never have died in so I can't comment on their restaurant experience. read more

Super awesome food paired with great service! The place itself is relatively spacious with low lighting. We've been here a couple of times now and the food is always delicious and such a fair price. If you want to get full, they have the food to do it. The ribs were tender but I thought they were a little overcooked. They didn't have much of a selection for their buffet, which runs I think Tuesday through Sunday but if you want to get full this is the place to go But I don't think it's worth the $14.00 range not where the maybe five or six meal food. I have an ordered anything but I bet that would be a little bit better. Maybe I'll try it next time. I'm up that way. read more

Unfortunately, I'm having to update this from 5 stars to 3... The last few times I've ordered takeout, I got home and found out that things in my order were incorrect or just plain missing. I live too far away to bother trying to go back and get what I actually ordered so, unless you're ordering delivery or willing to check all your food in the parking lot, I'd pass. We were really craving teriyaki chicken tonight only to get home and find out they gave us teriyaki beef, with some sort of gross mustard-y sauce smeared on it... What a find in Rifle CO. The staff is speaking Chinese. There is Chinese music with great Chinese Decor. The food was excellent and very authentic. We had Shrimp with walnuts and sizzling chicken and vegetables. It is Rifle so there are prong horn skulls and a mule deer trophy on the wall. read more

We used to eat here every couple of months and the quality is a little hit and Miss. Our last visit there was upsetting, while waiting for our food I looked at the salt shaker and saw brown things in it. I pulled off the lid and dug one of the brown things out and it was a bug. I put it on the table and it began crawling. I dug another one out and it also was alive. I went and told the owner, he walked over and saw the bugs crawling. He squished them with his finger, shrugged his shoulders and said he'd bring new salt. No one came to wipe off the table where he smeared the bug, he didn't apologize or seem to even care. Based on his under reaction, it terrified me to think about what happens in the kitchen. We will never return. read more

Had a great experience a couple days ago. It's been awhile since I've eaten here and the waiter remembered my preferences of drink and condiments without asking! I try to stop in here when I can. The food here is very good. They have the same menu as the Thai Chili Bistro on 3rd street, but the staff and quality of food is way way better. They don't have a buffet for supper so you can actually have a sit-down dinner without people lapping they buffet line. Their soup in wonderful and the Entrees are equally great. Definitely a good stop. They have a large parking lot that can handle RVs for all my road trippers also. read more

This review is for the outrageously overpriced charges from this place. Watch out, they don't want to work if you make substitutions and charge for every little thing. I ended up paying nearly $18 for a veggie green curry and $22 for a green curry adding scallops. I'm done with this place! I am a trained chef who was craving some Chinese food. Maybe my pallet is too refined but I have never put Chinese food in my mouth that was this repulsing in a valley where I was born and raised.. Egg rolls, well if you like freezer burnt fried rolls this is the place for you. I got fried beef noodles which were not traditional, literally some sort of noodle deep fried so hard looked like a horrible state fair funnel cake but with noodles. Not how it's suppose to be made. I could go on for days and never do reviews but I don't want someone to waste their time nor money on this slop. Pigs probably wouldn't even eat it, it's that repulsive. What a nice little find in Rifle, Colorado. I had to jump off the interstate and see what a town named Rifle was about. (Silt is up the road a bit, and Parachute too) So I took a slow down phase from the interstate and found this nice little Chinese place. Seems like is is a buffet, one of those all you can eat events. I was not is a bulging mood so I had a bowl of Wor Won Ton Soup. I love that dish because it has a bit of everything in it and has an end, unlike the buffet. The soup was super heated and had all the ingredients I have come to know as Wor Won Ton. The won toms are thick dough and more like a folded noodle with a few things in the middle. All in all I was pleased and rolled off to find my next treasure down the I70 read more

The food just isn't very good. The sweet and sour pork was over cooked and unpalatable and the fried rice was heavy and greasy and just not good. The egg drop soup was ok- no major complaints. They delivered to my hotel but only had a couple of bucks change available, which would have forced me to give them about a 30% tip. They wouldn't accept a credit card instead. I stopped by for take out on a late evening. It is not too far off the interstate and had reasonable prices. I ordered a sesame beef dish special, which also had a soup and rice. The price was $11 plus tax so it wasn't bad. The hot and sour soup was a little different as the meat seemed to be similar to chili meat, but it was good. So far, everything we've ordered for take out and for delivery (not in the dining room) has been very fresh, hot and tasty! Rifle's not known for it's multi-cultural cuisine choices so I wasn't sure about ordering Chinese BUT, it's totally surprised me. We have primarily used the Beyond Menu online service which has been so easy and efficient. All the vegetables have been super fresh, the meats have been cooked perfectly and the quantities are usually more than we can finish in one sitting.
