Always a warm greeting from the owner. Very tasty, hot, fresh food. Small dining room for inside eating. Good meaty spare ribs, flavorful fried rice with the combo platters.

Plenty of food for the lunch price of $6.45 with soup and rice. Chips and sauce. Fortune cookies. Fast service. Great for a quick lunch. Had the chicken with vegetables, egg drop soup and fried rice. The soup was delicious and had a huge plate of food. Couldn't finish it.

7.95 lunch special. General Tso. Delicious. Great customer service over the phone doesn't hurt either

Main menu with prices

Typically, I do not go to Shanghai Express because they're quite pricey in comparison to other local Chinese restaurants, but due to COVID-19 and the temporary closing of my go to take out spot, China 1, I indulged. I ordered the sesame chicken and pork fried rice combination platter. Like many other Chinese restaurants, the platter came with an egg roll and soup! When picking up my order I was greeted by a lovely gentleman behind the counter. He was quite pleasant. HOWEVER, the food was unfortunately just "okay". The pork fried rice was definitely the best I've ever had, but the chicken was not fully cooked and was quite disappointing it terms of flavor. The sauce was SUPER thick and it seemed as though the chicken was coated in a fatty layer and then battered and fried. For $12.85 (I normally pay $8.75 for the same platter at China 1), this experience was quite disappointing. On the strength of the great customer service, I may give Shanghai Express another try if my go to take out spot continues to remain closed. I'm thinking that maybe this was a one time thing....

Horrible experience. Horrible customer service. Food was sloppy and tastes bad. Wonton soup is mushy. Never ordering from here again.

Starting with the egg roll, it was very unique and you could tell they hand roll these. I've been to a ton of places and most egg rolls taste the same; NOT THIS PLACE. What really impressed me was the hunan beef. The pieces were large and juicy - which is not the norm. The heat was there, but it wasn't overwhelming and I got used to it really quickly. Flavor was awesome, vegetables were par-cooked very nicely. This place is first rate, and they don't seem to skimp on anything; I was really impressed! No photos, I destroyed all of the evidence.

This place is a gem, when we came in we looked around and saw a comfortable atmosphere it was really fancy looking inside and it was perfect for a lunch with my mom. This place would be great to take a date or go with friends. The food quality was absolutely amazing, this is the best Chinese food I've ever tasted with unique flavors I have never tasted before. The staff was so friendly and we tried their rare teas they were delicious and as a tea lover I enjoyed talking and learning about the tea and its history and origin. We had orange chicken which was so flavorful the flavors were perfect and the quality of the chicken was absolutely amazing. We tried the honey walnut chicken as well and it had a smooth semi-sweet sauce it was another perfect dish. All in all I will definitely be back and others need to know about this spot. It's one of the greatest Chinese spots I've ever been to. Please do yourself a favor and come try out the variety of flavors and ambience this cozy place has to offer you won't regret it.

This place stays busy, and after trying the food, it's easy to understand why. The restaurant primarily focuses on takeout, which seems to be the main reason for the constant flow of people picking up orders. However, if you prefer to dine in, there are a few tables and chairs available inside. We decided to stay and eat because we had somewhere to be afterward and wanted to enjoy our meal before heading out. The restaurant itself is small, but the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the irresistible aroma of freshly prepared Chinese food coming straight from the kitchen. It immediately sets the tone for what's to come. We ordered a variety of dishes including Chicken Udon Noodle Soup, Fried Chicken Wings, Broccoli and Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Shrimp Lo Mein. Everything arrived fresh, piping hot, and packed with flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the shrimp dishes were satisfying and well-seasoned, and the fried chicken wings were crispy and delicious. Every dish tasted like it was made to order, and the quality really stood out. It's clear that the kitchen takes pride in preparing food that keeps customers coming back. Overall, the meal was well worth the trip, and this is definitely a place we would revisit again in the near future. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

You know if it has a note about reservations on a Chinese Restaurant it must be good! It was early so we were able to be seating @ 5:30 but by 6:15 the place was almost full. Our waitress quickly gave us menus and water was served. Their menu wasn't an American traditional menu, with lamb, tripe, pork belly, intestine, and kidneys but they did serve common proteins also. We ordered fried dumplings and spring rolls while we paroozed the menu for dinner items. They came quick and take the roof off your mouth hot!! We ordered dinner, I had the dry pot style lamb 7 spice level out of 10, my dining partner salt & pepper chicken. My dry pot came quick, hot and so tasty. Waited 10 mins and we both started eating it. No sign of other dish. Couldn't get anyone's attention. Finally after another 5 mins, who looked like the owner asked what was wrong & went to check for missing dish. It arrived 10 mins later on a bed of lettuce No pepper & onion, very bland. We would go again possibly if we were in the area telling of the wait time as to not happen again hopefully & chose wisely - definitely a sauce

I figured our experience would be positive since the restaurants are under the same ownership. Sonny is a great guy and every time I interact with him he is happy and up beat. No Sonny this time but our experience was still great. We ordered an egg roll, small pork fried rice, Mongolian beef, and an egg drop wonton soup (yes you read the last part correctly and it's great (upon request)). There isn't really any place to sit and eat in the restaurant so I'd consider them strictly take out (they also do not deliver). Inside the restaurant itself is small and very We were told 10 minutes for pick up by the time we ordered and it was ready in 10 minutes. The total came to slightly over $30 and was well worth it. Food was hot. It all tasted delicious. Portions were very generous. I had Mongolian beef leftovers for 2 consecutive days after eating that night and the pork fried rice was protruding out of the top of the container and the lid barely closed. The Mongolian beef was loaded with green onions (one of my favorites), the beef was tender, and it was spicy! The dish came with plenty of white rice which also lasted me through the next day. The pork fried rice was a beautiful golden-brown and flavorful. The wontons were tasty and perfectly cooked. I've actually never heard of combining egg drop and wonton soup but my girlfriend loves it and King Wong does it upon request. Our order came with 3 fortune cookies, a bag of fried noodles, and the sauces (duck, soy, hot mustard, hot sauce) were next to the counter to take yourself. There is plenty of parking as it's located in a strip mall with other businesses. Our experience was very good and my girlfriend orders from here often. We'll definitely be back again.

Working late, I came to dine in around 10 PM and had fast delivery of everything I ordered. The food had creative tastes compared to the many traditional dumplings I have had in San Gabriel Valley.
