I don't usually write reviews but I am very disappointed in this place. My husband and I order weekly but yesterday when we ordered our order was wrong. We did an online order for General Tsos and when it was picked up it was General Tsos Tofu. We do NOT like Tofu and I know we did not order that. We called once we got home and asked to exchange it for the correct item. We were told no. I said that wasn't very disappointing because we are loyal customers and their response was "ok". I did not receive a confirmation email when I placed my online order and they did not attach a receipt so there was nothing that we could do. The cooks there are very rude and nasty. I visited today to get shrimp broccoli for my 88 yr old mother and requested soft broccoli . The young lady at the front desk was very nice , however , when she asked the cook to prepare the soft broccoli he got Irate and started berating me as a woman and threw me my money back. Like so many other inexpensive Chinese restaurants in this area, Jin Cheng is a plain-looking, unassuming store in a shopping center. Don't let appearances fool you though. I found the food to be above average, nearly the equal of the best of the inexpensive Chinese takeouts in South Jersey. The General Tso's chicken in particular was crisp and flavorful. Also, the fried rice actually had pork and a few other ingredients and wasn't just the cliched yellow fried rice that some other places dish out. Service too is top-notch. We dined in for this review and they were very helpful in getting us everything we needed. Jin Cheng is in a shopping center at the corner of Rt 73 and Ramblewood Parkway, accessible from both roads. Be aware that unlike many other intersections in South Jersey, this one doesn't have jughandles. So you'll actually have to keep left to make a left turn from Rt 73 to Ramblewood Parkway. I've always had great experiences here. It's a Chinese takeout place - by now all of you should know what to expect from that without much detail. It has all the standards - egg rolls, wontons, lo mein, General Tso's and Sesame chicken, Orange chicken, sweet and sour.... basically a standard takeout menu. No surprises there. The food we've gotten has always been fresh and the kitchen looks clean. Service is friendly and very prompt (we always pick up orders, and we usually leave as soon as we put down the phone and it's always ready when we get there, even on very busy days). Quality is as good as can be expected - not winning any Zagat ratings, but good for a takeout place. I've never felt like the food was subpar. Fried things have always been crispy and not too greasy, sauces are saucy and not congealed and weird, etc. My BF and I typically order a bunch of food to get the free General Tso's with $25 or more deal, and eat it over the course of the next 3-4 days. It keeps fairly well (particularly the lo mein) and overall is a good deal - several meals for the price of one restaurant meal for the two of us. read more

I was a faithful customer of this place until recently. The lady answering the phones is ALWAYS rude. They don't practice any customer service...ever! I recently placed an order and got home and realized they missed one of my combo platters. When I called to speak to someone she insisted I was lying and she took the order correctly. I was willing to come pick up the missing platter and asked if I placed another order would she still honor the lunch pricing (since this was missed on her part) and wasn't even angry over the miscommunication. The menu was pretty adamant about fresh cooked food for every order and using minimal oil while cooking. It couldn't be worse than my last experience so I called and placed an order. Delivery was reasonably quick (was quoted 45 mins when I placed the order). Some of the best American Chinese food I've had. I ordered only a couple of things (Boneless BBQ Pork with Fried Rice, and Fried Wontons). Both of them were amaze-balls. The pastry for the wontons was airy, cooked perfectly, and NOT GREASY. Taste bud nirvana. I was tossing back and forth between a 4 and 5 star rating. I've been to Chinese take-out all over the US, hardcore fan of American Chinese food since I was a kid and eat it regularly as an adult (maybe a little more regularly than I should..whoops!) and this place is definitely in my top 3. read more

Great Chinese takeout. We live nearby and don't go anywhere else. We're big fans of their Lo Mein, and everything with their Brown Sauce (like Chicken and Broccoli). Our two kids devour it like lunatics. I've also become a huge fan of their Mongolian Beef. A bit spicy an a great flavor. Service is friendly and usually any order takes 15 minutes or less. FYI - there's a new wrinkle. The last couple times we got their Lo Mein is was pretty bland. Last night my wife took the second one back and they happily replaced it free (and bigger) with a one with more Lo Mein Sauce. It turns out their new spoon for the Lo Mein is smaller - so she told us to order extra Lo Mein sauce in the future. Highly recommended. I find the Egg Rolls a little bland and beef them up with some sauce from another dish. read more

Just moved to this area not too long ago. I've tried 2 other Chinese places that had five stars and one place in particular is awful (will be posting review on that place also) and other place was just ok, but the lesser of the two evils! I come from Philly where we can get almost any type of food we want and 9 out of 10 times it will be good, so I am a bit spoiled with my expectations of food choices. Anyway, I am SOOOO glad this place opened! I had stopped ordering from the Chinese places around here because I had TOP QUALITY food in Philly and the other places just kept disappointing-Especially when you are craving something & it's less than up to par! I've ordered from here twice in two weeks and I have to say both times the food was fresh and definitely up to par!! The one thing is the Chinese ribs around here-sorry they are awful, but NOT at Jin Cheng's!! These are what the ribs should be at a Chinese restaurant!! They deliver rather quickly, food is always steaming hot, portions are big and I will continue to order from them. They offer coupons for free items when spending certain amounts (quite a few to choose from at different amounts-they even offer a FREE entree with coupon if you spend over $30)!!! They also offer great luncheon specials, have an EXTENSIVE menu with great choices. Will adjust to your specifications and are willing to make sure you are happy. I am SO UPSET with the service I received tonight. I work at TD Bank call center and on my break I ordered Chinese, as I do every Saturday or every other Saturday, for the last 2 years from this place! My coworkers and I have given them SO MUCH SERVICE over the last few years. I also want to add that I am 8.5 months pregnant and there are not many food options in the work café during the weekend, only snacks really, and I need actual food. I called for my usual and for delivery, no different than any other weekend, and the woman on the phone said since I work at a call center there was no guarantee that I would not get stuck on a call and have her driver waiting, so she was not trying to get yelled at by him! I reassured her we order every weekend and it is never an issue. She said she refuses to take the risk. I asked if she meant I could not order. She said No, that she would not take my order. I really cannot believe that the place we spend $30-40 at EVERY WEEKEND for 2 years just refused to take my order, when we have never had any issues previously. 3 Departments at my job overheard this conversation and all agree they will NOT be ordering from them again. So not only are they going to miss out on my department's $30-40 orders, but other large group orders as well. I am appalled by this. I plan to let everyone at this call center know about this. There is no fury like a hungry pregnant lady being refused food! I will be looking for other places to take my money to from now on! read more
