I tried Tres Yan and Wu in Mount Laurel, NJ, and it was a bit of a mixed experience. The restaurant itself is very nice and upscale, especially compared to most Chinese restaurants in the area. The space feels modern, clean, and elevated, which immediately sets higher expectations going in. The quality of the food is clearly good, and the flavors are bold and well developed. You can tell care goes into the cooking, and from a taste perspective, the food definitely delivers. That said, the pricing is significantly higher than your typical local Chinese spot, easily about double the price, and unfortunately it does not feel like it is twice as good. For example, a small lunch General Tso's chicken was $16, which felt very overpriced for the portion. While the flavor was great, the chicken was a bit soggy, and the shrimp wontons were also soft, which may have been due to the food being takeout and not fresh from the kitchen. Overall, Tres Yan and Wu offers great flavor and a high end setting, but the value just does not quite match the cost. If price is not a concern, you will probably enjoy the food, but if you are comparing it to classic neighborhood Chinese takeout, it is hard to justify paying that much more for a similar level of satisfaction. read more

This is a Mount Laurel staple! We have been coming here for the past several years, and are always happy about the consistency. It is a little pricy, but the indoors is actually pretty nice. Good service and the food is pretty OK. I honestly remember being a lot more tasty back then and the most recent time that I went it was OK but still good. read more

Tres always has super fresh food. Simply prepared. And tasty. The dining room is clean. Service is always perfect. This time I got hot and sour soup which was both spicy and sour. Perfection! Eggroll was good. Shrimp and Garlic Sauce had perfectly stir fried vegetables and shrimp. I'd say the sauce could have been a bit more garlicy but overall a nice light dish and perfect portion size. read more

The service and food was good. The Granfathers Chicken (General Tso) was great! To my surprise it was all white meat chicken. The waitress told me they only use all white meat for this type of plate! Fantastic!!! They could put more than two broccoli florets on the plate and could have more non-alcoholic drinks than just water, coke, and sprite but those things don't take away from the quality of the food! I will come back when I am in town again and I will try something different to make sure this one plate isn't all they have that is good! I am sure it is not! Winner winner chicken dinner! I came back the following week and this time tried the Triple Delight! I had them make it spicy because I like spice and heat! It was great. After hearing rave reviews, I tried this place even though it was out of the way. When I arrived, I was told that they were out of the eggplant I ordered. That's no big deal. I had the Chinese spare ribs, an egg roll and the fried rice. The ribs were very oily and greasy but didn't taste bad. I've had ribs at many other places but they have never been this oily and greasy. The egg roll was okay but not good. The fried rice was the worst out of the three. It was mushy and generally didn't taste fresh nor did it have good flavor. I ate a little bit and threw the rest out. I did not eat in but the host who greeted me was very nice and polite. I am not sure if this was just an off day for them. read more

The place is clean and not too loud but they must've changed something in the past couple years, because when my family used to eat here, the food was consistently amazing and lately the food was Not good. Very sad and disappointing but the worst part was that when my husband and I mentioned it to our server and then the manager, nothing was done. They took our plate but did Not offer to remake or correct the bill So, we were served partially raw and not good food. 4.5 stars. So we live in the same town and even though I had heard good things about this restaurant, we didn't make any effort to try until yesterday. Whyyyy did we wait so long? It's a great spot for Chinese food. We all loved their beef chow fun, beef scallop in black pepper sauce, roasted duck and house fried rice. The service was great, everyone there was nice. We're always nervous to eat at new Asian restaurants because of my daughter's severe peanut allergy but they reassured us it'd be fine and we had no issues. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal tonight. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the entryway and reception area were, then to the table set with double tablecloths, cloth napkins and pretty silverware. Art on the walls, lovely plants all around,and classical piano music playing told us this was not your average chinese restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive despite being busy. I had shrimp wonton soup which was three tender shrimp wontons in a flavorful broth. Then for an entree I had singapore noodles with an upgrade to jumbo shrimp. Very good! My companion had an egg roll which he said was better than most, not greasy, and tasty. He followed that with chicken with vegetables in garlic sauce, he enjoyed the dish very much.Very fresh and flavorful. we will definitely be back again to try more dishes! read more

I recommend their Honey Walnut Chicken, Pineapple Chicken, Fried Rice, Chicken Lettuce wraps, and Pad Thai. Everything tasted fresh and was filled with flavor. If you have a gluten allergy it can be hard to find Asian food that you can eat. Tres Yan and Wu offer plenty of options from their gluten-sensitive menu. They take extra precautions when it comes to preparing their food. Just make sure if you order takeout, ask them to label the gluten-free dishes. If you are looking to have some delicious Asian food, then Tres Yan and Wu is the place for you. You can order takeout and have a cozy night in, or enjoy their food at their restaurant with an amazing bottle of wine. Happy to report I was pleased with everything I ordered. Flavors and texture were delicious. You can choose between brown or white rice. Looking forward to trying other dishes. I wrote a review for a takeout meal from here during covid that expressed my deep disappointment. I am thrilled to say after a meal last night that they are back at the too of my list. Maybe it was just the difference between food being so much more enjoyable in person. Either way, it might have been the best Chinese food I EVER HAD! And I've had a lot! The shrimp wonton soup was just perfect. My husband and I shared Mongolian beef and Grandfather's Chicken. I cannot decide which was better. My only complaint was that I've had better egg rolls. I love the takeout from this restaurant and am looking forward to actually eating there! I'm visiting my family in NJ and we ordered food twice during the Holidays. The dishes were delicious, hot, well made and packaged in sturdy containers. This may be the best takeout food I've ever had! The prices are a little higher than the average Chinese restaurant but the quality of their food is more than worth the cost! Every dish was worth eating and the leftovers were delicious too. Wish I had a great choice like this in Florida! If you want something different- freshly made, well seasoned and delicious, this is your answer. You won't be disappointed. read more

The restaurant has a lovely ambiance with white tablecloths which might imply high prices but, most items were reasonably priced. My husband had pad Thai and I had a seafood dish that was slightly salty but otherwise well made. The service was excellent. I didn't have a lot of information about this place but a friend who lived nearby suggested it for dinner. It's Asian food but def, ​not a casual corner store. Apparently,​ the influence is French Asian, ​but I didn't get that in my meal. I had something consisting of shrimps and veggies. It was underwhelming,​ to say the least. My friend ordered a lobster dish, she's had it before. i think it had a garlic base. Looked pretty good tho and she enjoyed it. Disappointing. This used to be my go to spot but this time was so disappointing, I won't be back. $70 for essentially Chinese take out. General tso's chicken - no sauce. Chinese bbq ribs - no sauce. Beef lo mein mediocre. Crab Rangoon with some strange taste and apple dipping sauce??? I'm done. If anyone can recommend a Chinese restaurant, I'd appreciate it. read more

OK, so they are only take out now so you don't get to have a "date night" experience in their beautiful dining room anymore (why has COVID ruined all the Asian restaurants?). Don't get me started on anti-Asian bigotry. Anyway, we usually order take-out from our local Asian restaurant but this time, wanted to change it up a bit. We decided to order from Tres Yan and we were a bit disappointed. We ordered a quart of their fabulous shrimp won ton soup, but found the broth too salty for our taste. The dumplings were to die for (packed separately from the broth, a good sign), alas, the broth was like diner soup or canned soup quality. Next, our appetizers. Very good but again, the sauce salty. Finally, our entrees looked great, but by then, we were getting full, so we sampled a bit of each and packed it up for another day. Four stars on the entrees but lose a star for the salty soup. I don't eat Chinese food often because it's full of sodium and I am on a lower salt diet due to my high blood pressure meds. My BP shot up that night to almost 180/90 and it's from the soup. I'm afraid that that was my last time ordering from this place. Shame. read more

The place smelled great and looked like what a small family owned Chinese restaurant in a small suburban town should look like. It reminded me of my childhood. The food truly is refined here. Not greasy, but flavorful and refined. I ordered the shrimp w/broccoli special and mei fun (thin noodles) with shrimp, and everything is delicious! Highly recommend. They currently only do takeout due to the pandemic. read more
