We have been here a few times and every visit has us going home happy and armed with a take-home bag. This was a birthday celebration for my niece and two of her kids (lots of April babies!). The birthday boy picked King's and we are all glad he did. The specials board won most of us over - I had their chicken and shrimp with a spicy sauce and every bite was a treat. Fresh tasting shrimp and perfectly cooked, white meat chicken made me clean my plate (no doggie bag for me). The three kids in our party all ordered different (less spicy) dishes and they finished their meals too which is unusual for them as they are very picky eaters. Service was excellent. The hot tea on the table didn't need sugar (unusual as I have a sweet tooth). The crispy noodles were just that - really crispy with a very hot mustard and sweet duck sauce on the side. We have been eating at King's Palace for about 30 years and always loved every meal that we ever had. Last night we had takeout. The food was the worst Chinese food that we have ever had there. The hot and sour soup was thin and tasteless. The noodles were stale that came with it. I had the tofu with vegetables which was tasteless. My husband had Kung Pao chicken which tasted very different from previous dinners. Not sure what was going on if it is a new cook or new ownership but it wasn't good. Food was delicious but that is about the only positive I can say. The female owner who served us was quite rude. She was so short with us. Also, there was constant hollering from the kitchen area all throughout our meal. When I questioned why the menu says one thing and the bill said another, she very abruptly and rudely said to look at the signs on the wall. They have these sheets of paper with small font hanging throughout the restaurant saying the prices have gone up due to inflation, but they don't say how much. So if you look at the menu price, which she says is old, they can jack it up as much as they would like. Perhaps print up to date menus. Completely tacky and I won't be back. Recently went there to find that they had sold the place and it was being run by someone who just does regular run-of-the-mill Chinese food. I can't decide between three or four stores but I'm going with 4 because I loved the Hot and Sour Soup. I have a feeling you will either love or hate this place. Service was reasonably friendly and brusquely efficient, which is what I would expect from an authentic restaurant run by older Chinese women. If you need overly attentive servers gushing platitudes, go to P.F. Chang's. Right out of the gate they brought me water, hot tea, crunchy wontons, some sort of pickled cabbage (wasn't a fan), sweet and sour sauce, and hot mustard. I ordered a dinner combination that came with my choice of soup, an egg roll or a spring roll, and my choice of rice. I chose the hot and sour soup and I was actually pretty surprised hot tasty it was. It was piping hot, had tofu, egg, and chicken in it. Tasty stuff. The spring roll was hot and crisp, pretty standard but done well. The General Tso's chicken entree was a little lackluster for me, it was also piping hot, but it was maybe a little under-fried so had a weird texture to it and the sauce was missing some kick and some flavor. The fried rice was far too dark for my liking, it wasn't terrible but I would probably opt for white rice next time. Overall pretty good, I would come back and choose some different options for dinner and then decide if it's three or four stars. Definitely worth trying, but may not be your cup of tea. read more

Been searching for a new Chinese restaurant since our go to place changed owners a year ago. We live in Cherry Hill and have tried the top 8 places on the list which left us disappointed. Amazing how many places ni longer have bone in spare ribs. Was excited to find them on the menu. Ordered 4 dinner combos that comes with enough food for 2 in each. Time for an update. We gave them a second chance, again mostly due to the convenience of being right next to the theatre. Either my last experience here was just a bad day, or they've really made an effort to improve. We tried the "Fried bean curd with peanut and sesame sauce" and it was delicious! We also really enjoyed the "Double vegetarian delight" which was a mix of veggies and mock duck in a garlic soy sauce, fried up and served on a sizzling skillet. Definitely worth a try. I really don't understand the negative reviews for King's Palace. I've been here twice with my boyfriend. Both times we got soup, once we split a dinner plate and once we got lunch specials. The food quality is well above average and beyond our expectations. The service is quick and to the point, there's no annoying chatty waiters checking on you every two seconds. I had the egg drop soup which was hot and very flavorful, my boyfriend had the hot and sour soup which was very rich with beef flavored broth. We split a dinner plate of pepper chicken which was well cooked, extremely flavorful, had the perfect texture sauce with incredibly fresh and crisp green bell peppers. The lunch special I had was General Tso's and it was super crispy NOT soggy like it is at most places, nice big chunks of very fresh white meat chicken, and delicious sauce that wasn't overpoweringly spicy. My boyfriends lunch special was sweet and sour pork with perfectly crisp breading that was light and crunchy. The pork itself was very fresh and flavorful. The red sauce wasn't overly sweet and had a nice fruity flavor. I can't recommend King's Palace enough for amazingly well executed Chinese comfort food. read more

When we moved from Philly to South Jersey it took forever to find a good, weekly Chinese place that wasn't mediocre. We probably tried 5 or 6 that I always complained about before finding King's Palace which quickly became our favorite (we alternate between here and Joe's Peking Duck House, which are both great but have different menus, although both have great duck). The owner (I'm assuming he's the owner) is extremely friendly, will make your food anyway you want, and always greets me with a smile when I come in. Its a couple dollars more than delivery Chinese, but worlds apart and 10 times better than any we've had in the area and well worth it. The combos are all good, no matter what you like (and its nice that you can get brown rice for no extra charge). Chik. w/ broccoli, Lo mein, sweet & sour pork or shrimp, general tso's shrimp, and chicken or shrimp in garlic sauce are all excellent. Although not on the menu, you can get 1/2 an order of Peking Duck for around $20, which includes a huge legs, plenty of meat and pancakes (its good if you're the only one in the house that eats duck, as a whole order is just too much for 1 person). I like that they cut the fatty parts out but leave the crispy skin-so good!! The Chef's specialities are interesting too (butterfly shrimp with bacon is really good), and I don't think we've ever ordered anything that didn't taste great. I definitely recommend this place for your regular Chinese spot, and its never more than 20 minutes for pick up (unless you get Duck, which is 25). read more

They are extremely friendly and like any Chinese restaurant, bring you your food before you can even finish ordering it. Prices are also very reasonable for combination platters.
