A must stop for authentic Chinese food in Windsor, Canada. Just a day before we had the worst dim…read moresum in Cleveland,Ohio, I had very little hope there is good Chinese food anywhere around To be honest, Ming kitchen across the street was closed for private party and we saw Shin Shin Chinese. My husband looked at the sign in the front door, street side that said, "Best Chinese food in Windsor", self proclaimed. In my mind, I thought I would be the judge of that. We entered the restaurant at 2pm, Sunday afternoon, there was no one there. I thought, "oh no," but we just ordered none the less. The owner was so nice. Took our order, and within minutes our food was out! 1. Crispy wonton with cheese, accompanied with a sweet sour sauce. Delish! It was freshly made, crispy, hot, tasty! We expected 2-3 wontons appetizer, the dish came out with 8-9 little yummy wontons. 2. House veggie soup, I believe it was a bone broth, on the house! The owner came out and said they just boiled some veggie soup and offered some for free. I didn't know it would be free until I didn't see it on the bill. Dish after dish arrived and we were delighted. 3. Sichuan boiled fish. Waitress came out to ask how spicy we wanted the dish. Caution, we said little spicy, but that's subjective. I think mild would have been good enough for us, but a little spicy is still delicious. The portion was HUGE. It had a good amount of cabbage, bean sprouts, cucumber, cilantro at the base of the soup and there was so many pieces of very tender fish above. For $16.99, you have this big bowl of yummy fish, perfectly seasoned. We have enough to take away. 4. The ma pao tofu was beautifully plated and simply good. Each tofu cube was soft and the flavor so good. The portions are so big, I had to bring the tofu to go. 5. My son ordered the beef udon and he liked it. I tried it, and it's just ok for me. I still like Japanese style udon more than a pan fried udon. 6. The General Tsao chicken was very good. Again, freshly made and it's not all batter. There is a good amount of chicken in the dish. My husband thought it was the best food he had all week after lots of fine dining in Detroit, eating at Adiamo and Highlands in the GM building. Our family enjoyed Shin Shin's Chinese food. If you want a taste of good Chinese food, don't let the exterior of Shin Shin restaurant deter you from going inside and having a taste. It was delicious and if I am ever in the area, I would definitely go again and highly recommend this place. Oh

Server can speak both English and Cantonese. They are very attentive, as my husband spilled the tea and without asking, they brought towels and extra napkins. We've order: - roasted duck: the skin is so crispy and the meat is very favourable - eggplant: the spicy level is just perfect - beef rice noodles: this is always the dish that you can tell if the chef is good or not. And I'm telling you, IT's GOOD - Yeung chow fried rice: not oily at all - Bok choy: so fresh. The flavour of the vegetable kept within - Ginger Beef: if your love Spring Onion, you've got it - Black Bean Sauce with Chicken: We will definitely come back for more.

I ADORE this place's lunch specials…read more I always upgrade to shrimp fried rice because I love that the most but ANY of their fried rice tastes like home to me. The best in Windsor in my opinion, ofc :) I'm aiming to try everything on their lunch special menu. I usually get their veggie spring roll because it tastes good but also because their hot and sour soup isn't great. I would recommend their lunch specials because it's cheap ranging from $6.95 to $7.95 and comes with fried rice and your choice of hot and sour soup OR a spring roll (Standard is chicken! Ask your waitress for a veggie spring roll otherwise!) I wouldn't recommend using their plum sauce because it looks kinda gross (it being basically water). Also if you really care about the atmosphere, they only play an old radio station with a guy that croons and old tunes which is kinda weird for a Chinese restaurant. Service is nice but if for whatever reason you're sensitive to a blunt waitress, don't be.

The building's striking fire-engine-red brick exterior offers a fitting hint of the bold experience waiting beyond the doors. It's a very small, intimate restaurant, with a cozy feel that makes the space feel personal rather than sprawling. I was pleased to see that it welcomes families, including children--hold the wasabi. It was the best decision we've made that day, I got the burned miso ramen, my husband the Major Tom Khatsu and we both lived them! Very flavorful broth, and chewy noodles. The staff was very friendly and helpful considering it was our first time. The only wish I had is that their bao was without dairy, so it could be vegan too. We'll be back for more!

This Chinese barbecue restaurant has the best soy sauce chicken I've had - the soy sauce has just the right touch of sweetness to contrast the saltiness and the meat is tender and flavorful. Their other meats (barbecue pork, roasted pork, duck) are solid as well. We often stop by this place on the way to or from Toronto. On my most recent visit, we ordered Cantonese chow mein, seafood bird nest, and sizzling beef tenderloin in chef's special sauce. The chow mein was crispy without being overly greasy. The meat, seafood, and veggies inside were all fresh and delicious, as was the gravy covering all of it. The bird nest also contained fresh and tasty seafood and veggies inside a crunchy potato "nest". And finally, although the beef "tenderloin" wasn't really tenderloin (it was a cheaper cut that was tenderized with an enzyme powder), the sauce and onions smothering it were sweet and delicious over rice. This is our go-to restaurant in Windsor and I highly recommend it!
