The original Shane's Rib Shack always provides an incredibly positive experience both in terms of service and food and beverage quality. Their chicken tenders are some of best oddly enough. Their pork is not the best in Atlanta but it is VERY good. I am never disappointed. They do have possibly the best tea around. The peach cobbler should not be missed either. My ribs were hard like it was either old or overcooked. The chicken was dry in some areas. Not the Shane's I know. The service was great. Oh how we wanted to fall in love with this place! But it was not to be. This was our first (and last) visit! Not having been in before, we would have appreciated not being rushed or made to feel like we were inconveniencing the young lady taking our order. Second, we had one special request: cook the fries a little longer so that they are crispy. On the upside, our food came out quickly. THAT should've been a hint. Everything (including the fries) were lukewarm to cold. The fries were obviously the frozen kind and clearly spent time under a heat lamp. The wings were good (best part of the whole $70+ deal) and the baked beans were edible. In fact, those were the only truly edible things we ordered. The Mac and Cheese is very creamy but has no taste. I took two bites and it made me nauseous . Trashed it! The aforementioned old and lukewarm fries were over salted. I'm sure my blood pressure shot up a few points. Now to the ribs (which I was craving): SUBPAR! The meat tasted old and beyond the sauce, unseasoned. Drowning barbecue in sauce is almost always a red flag. Oh, we were asked if we wanted our bread toasted--we said "Yes" but alas, no bread ever appeared. Beyond food delivery, the service is non-existent. One might expect a heavy dose of southern hospitality but that would be a mistake. Nobody checked in--had they we would've told them about the fries and requested a do over. We would have also ordered more wings to go. Having tipped at 20% (assuming some level of table service), I definitely feel ripped off and disappointed. All in all--Shane's Rib Shack is underwhelming on every single level. Leaving we passed their "bathroom" which is outside the restaurant and labeled "outhouse." That part was true--the smell hit you as soon as you open the door to exit! Absolutely gross! Bid dad sandwich had bread not toasted no butter, garlic, cold hard bread thrown on the side. ordered sauce on the side, nope! 3rd time in a row! ordered pulled pork plate and meat was literally sitting in a puddle of grease! stew was HORRIBLE! please spend the money to hire an adult staff on weekend! steadily going downhill! This was my first visit to a Shane's Rib Shack. Apparently, this is the original location. This location appears to be takeout only. I did see some seating in a room off to the side of where you order, but it was clean, but empty. Service was quick, as I had my whole rack of ribs in less than 10 minutes. The ribs were good with very little sauce on the ribs, just the way I like them. I did take a sampling of their sauces, with the spicy being my favorite. The ribs themselves, were moist and tender. I would have preferred a little more seasoning and smoke, but they were good. I will return. read more

We use to order from Shane's Original often. We then started ordering from another of their locations because the food was better and the texas toast was actually toasted. That location closed down. The last three delivery orders have been missing items. Tonight's order was the the worst. We received someone else's order, we assumed. Our order was 4 dinners at $70.00, what we received was two small orders that was not what we ordered. The driver said to let them know. Last time I let the restaurant know, they told me to let DoorDash know. Doordash gave me a 6.60 credit for 3 missing drinks and a missing mac & cheese. So disappointing. Shane's was off their game tonight. We ordered the rib special,m. Hubby got the baked beans / okra as his sides. I got the okra and subbed in a dessert (peach cobbler) as my two sides. Both of our ribs were dry and tough, and my peach cobbler was like wet, uncooked dough...at least it was hot. We are regular customers and usually get good meals and service. I've been going to Shane's since it opened and have, up until now, experienced good and accurate service. The food is good and they always gave you a full measure of food. On Feb. 1, I went in and ordered a pound of the chopped port to go. Later, as I was going to divide the order, I discovered they gave me chicken, not port. I looked at the ticket and they had even rung it as an order for bbq chicken. I called the store and pointed out what happened. I was put on hold for quite some time and another person came on the line. I told her what happened. She then told me I was the one who made the mistake, not Shane's, and that I was responsible for checking the window on the register. Really? I was paying cash. I don't usually look at the window on the credit card box and up until now no one had ever mistaken PORT for CHICKEN. There was no apology for their mistake, just blame me, the customer, and hang up. It will be a while before I go back to Shane's. I am not going to accept the blame for their mistake. Worse yet, there was not even an apology. Arrogance and lack of customer service seems to be the daily routine there now. There are too many other bbq places to put up with being treated as if I am the stupid customer who didn't know my job while in their store. I wrote the HQ a note and explained the situation. They sent my comments to the location for a reply. There has not been one for the last 5 days. I don't think they intend to reply. read more

Shane's has been one of my go to bbq spots. In the McDonough area there's not many places to choose from but Shane's has always been there. The food is great and affordable. They are very friendly and it's a great place to eat with family there's plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. The food usually is ready within minutes of placing your order. read more

We had the bbq chicken. It was dry. The green beans and Mac and cheese were sub par. Not the worst, but Nothing special.

While visiting family, we had dinner here. There is plenty of parking at a small indoor BBQ joint with good food. You order at the counter and either get take out, or they will bring your food to one of 3 sit-down covered areas. Two of those areas are screened, and one section is enclosed and heated for this chilly night. My husband and I split the 1/2 lb pulled pork and half slab of ribs platter, we opted for fries and Cole slaw as our 2 sides. All the food was very good. Fries could have been a bit hotter, and the BBQ sauce on the meat was a bit spicy for out tastes, but meat was tender and plentiful, actually huge portions. I would recommend it. Service at the counter was fast and friendly, and the girls serving were sweet. read more

***out of towner review*** We stumbled upon Shane's on our way to pick peaches (touristy if us I know). We were met at our car door as it seems they are taking orders old-school drive-in style, and that's cool. The menu came and as a BBQ enthusiast, I didn't know where to start. The kids - plain cheeseburgers made to order (that's cool), fries w/ one, mac and chee with the other. Of course we had to conduct quality control... fries great, mac n chee, cheesy delicious. We split the sampler with chicken. The thick slices of white bread are a nice touch. Chicken tenders were fabulous, chicken was ok, ribs were tasty and a little small, but served well as a sampler. Okra, great, baked beans had a great flavor. Myron Mixon said Georgia doesn't really have a defined bbq style, and rather it's a mix of the surrounding areas, and here is where I'm happy to say that Shane does BBQ his way. His sauce is unique, a slight mustard twang to it and it's gooood. The BBQ here comes heavily sauced. I didn't mind at all but could see how some would prefer it dry, so ask! Listen. I have visited this "original" location over the past 2 years at varying times. Not ONCE have I received food at the correct temperature which is definitely an exposure for food poisoning! I have called and spoken with the "manager" a few times. I reported the location bc HOT food should be HOT and cold food COLD. When complaining about the Luke warm food and the item was replaced, it was STILL lukewarm. Goodness! How hard is it to keep food HOT unless it's not being stored properly This is the nastiest Shane's I've visited and I've given up on stopping by for my fav peach cobbler. I either visit the one in McDonough by the Publix or the one off 138 in that Publix plaza. Food is always GOOD AND HOT! Remember: if the temp is off, germs are more prevalent leading to sickness! If the food is not on a stove or oven that's headed, my previous comment applies. Just beware. 2 years and not one change has happened. Hopefully their next score from inspection (which you can't see bc you're not allowed inside) will reflect changes or a need to lose business. 5. Minutes. Later. I just viewed their score. The score on Yelp shows an 88 as recent as 9-2022. And they did not properly address rats, roaches, etc. And their manager hasn't taken the most basic food prep certification course. Our family loves stopping by the OG Shane's whenever we are in the area after a day at Southern Belle farm down the road. The staff seems to be mostly high schoolers, but they are ever so friendly and prompt. The menu is huge and most options come with 2 sides so brace yourself! It's a ton of food for great prices. My husband usually gets the sampler platter which come with ribs, tenders, wings and 2 sides and sliced bread. You can get your wings and tenders naked or sauced. I've had a few things on the menu, and while the BBQ isn't mind blowing, it's good and filling. I personally love their potato salad and Mac and cheese sides! The best part about this Shane's is the outdoor covered playground outside. It's shaded to protect the kiddos from the heat and big enough to have a whole class of kids burn off some energy before or after eating. They also have a sink with soap and paper towels outside so it's easy to get everyone cleaned up only to get them covered in bbq sauce. :) read more

Made an online pickup order today at 610pm and my husband sat in the parking lot watching people come and go for 40 minutes with no food brought to the car. He had to call in to the restaurant to ask what the holdup was. Food was supposed to be ready at 626pm, and one of the waitresses brought the food out at 700pm, with no explanation for the ridiculous delay. Needless to say, the food was sub par and not fresh, thrown together. Threw away half of it. We will Have to go elsewhere from now on. Shane's best days are behind it. Let me be clear, this is not the normal service I expect from Shane's hwy/155 McDonough. I actually drive out of my way to go to this particular location. I just left there. Purchased a 8pc lemon pepper *all flats* the way I always order. The price has gone up recently but I didn't mind because their service and product has always been consistent. What I didn't expect was to get wings that were smaller than my pinky finger and trust me my pinky is small. I immediately called them before I pulled off to see what was going on and asked if they really meant to give me this. I was informed that their normal supplier was out, they got these from someone else and knew they were much smaller. I asked could they have at least added a few pieces. She put me on hold and came back to let me know that the manager said there is nothing they can do. I politely told her I know it's not her fault, however, there are several things they could do including, adding a few wings to compensate or reducing the price in the meantime, anything besides selling someone these quality of wings. I can remember once going to Zaxby's and the attendent telling me they added a few more wings because the one they received were so small. I thought that was awesome that they stood behind their product like that! Why would you expect the same compensation but deliver a below standard product. I didn't even eat the wings because they were so small and salty. For a Manager to not have the decency to at least try to make it right is beyond me! I paid $10.69 for 8 wing tips from a chicklet!! To some this may not be a big deal, but his really annoyed me. I started to get out to speak to the Manager directly, however, I decided to call it a lost. I stopped by Shane's for the first time recently for lunch and was impressed. Their lunch baskets come with two sides and a drink for $7-$8. I got the two tenders basket with mac-n-cheese and fried okra. You order at the counter and then your food is brought to your table if you're dining in. The dining areas aren't anything fancy, but who cares at a low key BBQ joint? The woman taking my order recommended I get the okra well done and she didn't steer me wrong - it was crunchy, crispy and well seasoned. I called them to avoid making a review to see what could be done about the ribs I received being cold & she told me nothing basically & that they checked the other food & it was hot. I'm not dumb and trust I know fresh food. These were not fresh at all! Instead of fixing the mistake or giving fresh food she said she couldn't do anything about it! This is the perfect place to go if you have no control of tour children and you have no shame. We ordered chicken strip combo and a Big Daddy barbeque pork for $18. The pork was cold on the and lukewarm in the middle fresh out the microwave. I took it back and the girl said she would do re do it. She insulted my intelligence by putting the same meat in the microwave for a few more seconds. I ate it anyway. It wasn't bad but over priced for reheated food. Management has responded to my review. Here's all I have to say. I am not coming back. I don't want a free meal. You seem not to understand. I was served cold reheated food and then reserved the same food. We couldn't even get pass ordering our food.... The young lady wall to our car an was asked for a menu. She acted like we was speaking another language an she rolled her eyes an yelled meat. We said ok an trying to look pass that an told her we would like to still see a menu. She RUDLY handed us the menu as if we was doing something unheard of. From the other reviews I'm going to think this people was London because she never said hi or told us her name. I just can't believe for that to be our first time being here.
